Big opportunity here everyone!!

As you may remember or not, Big E let us hold Smash at NEC last December. The turnout was pretty ok, and the tournaments ran great. He was open to us potentially having another event with him. Big E is an amazing FGC host in the Philadelphia area, and working with him further can do nothing but good for the Smash community!

Fast forward to this month, and Melee made it into Evo!!!

But wait... THERE'S MORE!

Big E's next tournament - Winter Brawl 7 - Is an Evo qualifer!

What does this mean for us? Nothing too much... yet. There currently is no qualifier information set for Melee in regards to Evo, but I want to help change that. Winter Brawl 7 can be a great way to help push this change, by first getting the game into an Evo qualifier event!

Big E wants to see your support for Melee at Winter Brawl 7! The event is about 3 weeks away, so we need to act fast! If Melee makes it into Winter Brawl, I'll help make sure the event is amazing and I'm sure the amazing staff with Big E Gaming will treat us great.

Show your support and post here letting everyone know that you want to see Melee at Winter Brawl 7!

Whether you want to show up (YOU SHOULD!) or want to tune into the stream to show support for the game. Lets show the entire FGC what Melee has to offer and give them a sneak peak at what's in store for Evo 2013!!!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to help spread more information about an event I'm hosting later today to help raise money for charity. Being from a barrier island in South Jersey next to Atlantic City, my area was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Fortunately my house and family remained fine, but still nearly a month and a half later my town still doesn't look the same. Trees uprooted everywhere, some houses destroyed, dumpsters and piles of garbage still being taken to the curb everyday gutting out houses from ruined belongings - and this is nothing compared to what happened to other nearby towns.

Being an event organizer and live streamer for tournaments, I wanted to help give back to the community in this time of need and raise money for all the victims from this hurricane. This event is just that - CLASH For Charity. It's a 24 hour fighting game marathon and tournament that is taking place in South NJ. If you happen to be in the area, you should come out - it will be a great time. If you can't make it, the entire event will be streamed on Twitch TV.

I'll be collecting donations at the event and online, and will be giving away some random prizes to the donators. Prizes like show tickets for places around Atlantic City, blu-ray and DVD movies, a copy of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and more.

The event and stream starts tonight at 9pm EST. Help spread the word to help gather as many donations as possible! I, along with everyone that will benefit from this money, would truly appreciate it.

Event information: http://clashtournaments.com/?p=478
Live stream: http://twitch.tv/clashtournaments
Donation link: http://clashtournaments.com/charity

We're going to be playing a wide assortment of video games from the newest popular titles like UMvC3 and AE to classic gems like Ehrgeiz!

For those of you wondering - yes, there will be Smash on the stream at some points!

Because of the problems earlier, I'm rebroadcasting all of the matches now for all of you to watch in order, asap, before they make it on YouTube!

http://www.twitch.tv/clashtournaments

The stream is live now! I'll likely be repeating this all night until I wake up in the afternoon. There are nine matches that will be on repeat totaling just over 2.5 hours.

Do I support splitting? Hell no. In fact, I've been one of the biggest forerunners against splitting. Now we know what happened at ROM, but is it so out of the question? Why do we flip **** over it now? I understand the importance of there being no prize splitting, but for it now to explode out of no where and for a stink about it to be made publicly on stream and on social media in front of thousands of players is not going to do anything positive, all it does is hurt out community. Barring the Unity Ruleset, it has not (or hardly) been documented as prize splitting is not allowed, and why it is bad. It was not documented as not being allowed in either the ROM 5 thread, or in any Apex Series resources (since this was an Apex qualifier). So what do you think, should action be taken? I'm not here to answer that question. I am also not here as any representation of Apex Staff. But how bout some food for thought?

And that's just a small sample of what recent results have to offer. And in that list is another Apex qualifier, and two of the three players included in yesterday's split with another incident. I also have one other example from a little bit further ago: http://www.apex-series.com/the-big-house-wrap-up-results-2/ A write up for The Big House on the Apex website itself. The Big House was a qualifier for Apex 2012. This article itself states that top 2 split, on the official Apex website for a previous Apex qualifier.

  ---

Is splitting a problem? Yes. Does it need to stop? Yes. Causing such an insane fuss over it now seemingly out of no where? Not right. Had it been documented at all then you can say otherwise, but what happened at ROM (splitting wise, not dealing with the ruleset confusion and Winners Semis splitting) is NOTHING new. The community needs to work on fixing the problem, and not think that what happened at ROM was out of the blue. As for CT and Mew2King, he takes full fault for offering the split at ROM 5. I have talked with him extensively since it happened, and have made sure that he knows it is wrong and not to do it again. He offered it with no bad intentions, and even stated himself to me that it was not said that it wasn't allowed at all, and that it happens all the time (as proved here). Despite the split, he continued to play his hardest through Losers and Grand Finals, as he still wanted to win the tournament. Still, I have taken the time with him to make sure he knows that he should not be splitting again.

*** sorry if the links weren't clickable right, they got pretty messed up pasting into AiB's ridiculous text editor :/

Hi everyone,

CT Chibo here, asking for your help. Not the kind of help that the presidential candidates are asking for today - no choosing one over another - I'm just asking for all of your support.

As most of you know I'm sure, I have been professionally streaming tournaments for roughly a year now, and recently launched my new website less than two months ago. I want to keep growing with no end, landing bigger events, getting better equipment, and provide better content for all of you. I need every persons support here to help continue this dream of mine and to give back a better support for all of you.

I'm not asking for money or donations, just your support via social media to help show that not only CLASH Tournaments is worth the effort, but the Smash community as a whole. The more followers my Twitch channel has, the more subscribers my YouTube has, the more followers my Twitter has, and the more likes my Facebook has - it all shows support from what I think is one of the best gaming communities out there.

Please take a moment out of your time to do the following:

Follow my Twitch TV channel:
http://twitch.tv/chibosempai
Do this by clicking the Follow button near the top-left of the video player on the page

Subscribe to my YouTube channel:
http://youtube.com/clashtournaments
Do this by clicking the Subscribe button near the top of the page

Follow me on Twitter:
http://twitter.com/clashtournament
Do this by clicking the Follow button near the top-right side of the page

Like me on Facebook:
http://facebook.com/clashtournaments
Do this by clicking the Like button near the bottom-right of the cover photo

If you don't have an account on any of the four sites listed above, I strongly suggest that you create one. All four of these tools are very important for social media in today's competitive gaming scene, and can really help you get the information and content you want to see.

Please share this information with your friends and sub-communities as well! The more follows/subscribes the better. I promise in exchange to keep doing my utmost best work to provide you top quality content for the games you love.

Here we go everyone, this is what I have been hinting to recently on Facebook and such. The new CLASH Tournaments website:

http://clashtournaments.com

My plans for this are huge. I encourage you all to read the first article I posted here:

http://clashtournaments.com/?p=89

It explains my plan for the site and what I think it can do to really help Smash. Here is a short explanation about the Smash specific part. With CLASH Tournaments I am also making this a sponsorship opportunity as well for players, similar to how players are sponsored in other games. How I am treating this though is quite different from others.

For better or worse, the Smash community in general is not used to sponsors and acting to be a part of something larger and presentable to larger sponsorships, partners, etc. It simply does not work with large establish sponsors to throw players and Smashers in there and hope for the best. Instead, working with a small team I will be there every step of the way with my players. With a small division I can guide them into making the best decisions, being the best sponsored players, and becoming the best they can be in the game. I want to offer my knowledge and experience with my players and truly prepare them for larger things, and I feel this type of personal connection is something that is lacking from other sponsorships which is something that sponsored Smash players really need.

My first players to be sponsored under CLASH Tournaments are CT Mew2King and CT ZeRo. Clearly some of the best players we have to offer, and I'm ready to help make them the best they can be. Both of these partnerships are paid sponsorships and will be treated as legitimately to the fullest extent. Additionally in working with CLASH Tournaments they won't just be players like many other organizations you see, but will also be working as content providers, writing articles and content for CLASH Tournaments. Both of these players have often shared their thoughts and knowledge with many all over the internet, but normally in very unorganized fashion, and ways that aren't archived and easily viewable for the general public. There is no real leading place to turn for the best Smash content, and I hope to build that place. A place where players of all skill can turn to learn and become a better player. A place where everyone can turn to for entertainment, content, and media.

In the near future I will also be tweaking and fine tuning the CLASH Tournaments Facebook and Twitter pages to accommodate the new site. In the meantime however the new site is live, and I will continue to be thinking of ways to enhance the brand even further. I am debating how I can bring on even more people into the team for content creation through not only being a player, but possibly commentators, personalities, and members of all gaming communities, not just Smash.
