IxisNaugus says: His entire game is centered around punishing crap, because he doesn't have an approach (sh Fair may look like a proper approach but it's honestly not). He punishes spacing, bad or good it doesn't matter, that is Bowser. He punishes good spacing with well timed tilts, SideB and maybe FSmash if you're lucky, and he punishes bad spacing by Fortress OoS and a grab if he's lucky once again. It sounds nice in theory, but it doesn't work when put into practice because when an opponent gets too close or too far, he's doomed. When they're too close they're probably juggling him to death and when they're too far, they're probably camping him to death, and he can't change his punishment strategy to suit those situations because his moveset is so bad.
So when Bowser's forced to approach it all goes to hell because then he's bumbling around like an idiot trying to hit the opponent with something, and when the opponent is "inside" Bowser he cannot get them off because his aerials are useless, as is his spot and airdodge. To add insult to injury, he's also a ****ing goliath, so he gets punished far worse by even the most standard of links, and some moves he just can't DI out of altogether. Contrasting that is the fact that he has low gravity for some absurd reason, making him far easier to KO upward than many other characters. He's a punish character, but ironicly, he gets punished far worse by other characters things than what he can do to them.
