Is Tales of Symphonia a good game?
I have heard a few good things about it, I think. So I'm thinking about getting that or Okami. I know Okami is not RPG, but I love RPGs and I need a new game to play. So give me your opinions.

I haven't played the Wii one but I know the Gamecube one is stellar aside from some character issues, but the problems are very small.

did you really ask?
Skylaru wrote at 4:21 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
Yes, problem, Fats?
wWw Crofats wrote at 4:24 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
many, many problems if you did not already know this was a good game.

It was weak. I didn't even finish it.

Yooo I beat the wii one, it wasn't even bad, just not as good as the first one so *****s be knocking it down more than they need too, but ToS for the gamecube was legit as hell.

I haven't played it, yet, but I heard and read a lot that it's amazing. It's definitely the most well-known Tales, no doubt.

i never beat abyssion... ***** was 2 broken

Tales of Dragon is better

Tales of Symphonia is a good game, i orgasmed over it when i first played it tbh
i'd take Abyss over it though.

Also ToS 2 is pretty crappy but if you really enjoyed the first one you should give it a shot anyways.
Carls493 wrote at 4:39 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
Symphonia is bascially to Tales as FFVII sorta is to Final Fantasy: The most popular, highest-selling, and highest rated Tales game of all time, which has an influence on the games after it, has a few OVAs, and was lucky enough to get a sequel, even though that sequel's considered to be not as good.

That's just from a general point of view based on how common that particular game can be everywhere. It would be one of the games I would start with if I ever completely get into Tales.
Shinarouji wrote at 4:40 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
It's a fantastic game. Its sequel might leave quite a bit to be desired, but that doesn't take away from the experience of the first.
RiKu wrote at 4:41 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
ToS is a really good game. ToS 2 is a waste of time considering you can beat the game in less then 20 hours.
Zip. wrote at 4:44 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
@Carl:i think ToS is the only tales game that namco bothered to advertize in the states, lol
Skylaru wrote at 4:45 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
Ah, then I may get the first game first then. On the Gamecube I mean. And how is Abyss?

Which explains why it's the FFVII of Tales.
RiKu wrote at 4:47 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
Abyss was good. It's a little more challenging then ToS.
Shinarouji wrote at 4:48 PM on Jul 27, 2011 :
Others got advertisements in magazines and such Zip, but Symphonia was the only one that really got extensive media coverage

Abyss is also really good. Most of the fanbase is divided between which one they like more, but if you like Symphonia it's safe to say you'll most likely enjoy Abyss as well.

don't 4get about Vesperia.

I'd still get Okami over Tales. Symphonia is crazy long, but you'll definitely get your money's worth with Okami and its just a much more involving game imo

Both are great games though

It depends what kind of games you like. I haaaaaaaaaaated ToS, but if you like JRPGs you'd probably like it.
I got about 20 hours into it before I just had enough.
For every battle except the bosses, you can LITERALLY turn off your TV and mash the A button, and when you turn your TV back on, you won. The story wasn't enough to keep me interested after I found that out.

I would recommend Okami

I beat the hell out of that game, to the point where I can't stand playing anymore. After Abysson on Maniac (and the entire playthrough that went with it), and after playing on hard while trying to get "I Hate Gels" and "Friendship First" (basically, don't let anyone die for the first part of the story, and then no healing items for like the first 1/3 of the game), it's boring to play on any difficulty besides Maniac. But then, if I play on Maniac, it takes forever to win a battle and I get bored from playing for 30 minutes and making almost no progress.

Was a fun game though. I loved that the main character was an idiot and that the "tank" on your team is a little girl. It had some dumb cliches but also broke some of the cliches by doing things like making someone other than the main character the "hero" (not a spoiler - you find out 5 minutes in).

Beat it countless times.

I even beat ToS2 twice so I could do the secret dungeon. Biggest ****ing mistake ever......

TOS, for the Gcube, one of the top 3 gamecube games IMO
eighteenspikes wrote at 3:46 AM on Jul 28, 2011 :
TOS is ****. Completely generic storyline (pretty much word for word ripoff of Final Fantasy X, lol), bare bones side quests, palatte-swapped enemies, boring combat system that plays the same ****ing voice clips nonstop, spamming gels literally breaks the difficulty. Don't bother.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is a great game.
Skylaru wrote at 6:41 PM on Aug 11, 2011 :
To me, it wasn't all that compared to the first game. :/ It's always "Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality" or constant "I'm sorry..." and I hated Alice with a passion. Other than that, the first one was better.
Evil Mata wrote at 9:19 PM on Aug 21, 2011 :
The first one is the best, never played the sequel
Zano wrote at 1:13 AM on Aug 23, 2011 :
I beat the second one twice and did the labyrinth

you *****es are weak.
