The Standard of Living.
This afternoon, someone wrote a blog about a ****roach, and himself.  Disgusting, it will be exposed and shared with the entire site.  Kids, adults, and everything in between.

what was just as surprising, was one of the comments left on the blog:
The Fallen Angel wrote at 1:34 PM on Feb 28, 2012 : welcome to allisbrawl.
Apparently, the staff and users think this kind of **** is not only okay, but is the standard around here.

  • It's the standard to talk about ejaculating onto bugs,
  • It's the standard to post pictures of half naked 14 year olds.
  • It's the standard to lose a game on wifi, blame the lag, and call the other player a ******.
  • It's a standard for a staff member to infract with bias, defending those who he has a few things in common with.
  • It's the standard for the content team to do absolutely nothing.
  • It's the standard for the admins to look the other way.
  • It's the standard for the site to go down for a few hours, with no explanation to the users.
  • It's the standard to ask girl ont he site for nudes of themselves
  • It's the standard for those girls to actually do it...  smfh  (Thank god I haven't bore witness to that ****.  I'm currently throwing up in all of our mouths.)
  • It's the standard to talk about what sexual things you would do to fictional characters.
This list could go on for the rest of eternity, and it's really sad that we've been degraded and de-evolved to the point where this site loses members and hemorrhages respect, specifically because a few key members think it's funny to act like this.

The staff does nothing, the users do nothing, so eventually this  site will collapse upon itself, and it will be down to the 15~ people here who were the cancerous spew that caused the fall int he first place, sitting together in a circle talking about the same disgusting **** that is currently over looked.

Fuk.

See that?  That's a censor dodge.  I will most likely get an infraction, and be banned for a week, because I said that.  But what is great, is I could leave the C in, and say "I would **** an underage girl in any state, right now, and then I'll go out and sell drugs" and I won't be in trouble at all.

The retarded double standards and rule interpretations are complete garbage.  The site is barely even usable.

Oh, and inb4 the staff weren't on.  Enrish posted three times after the blog was made.  Just sayin.

That blog absolutely disgusted me. Cannot believe a mod actually posted in it without locking/deleting it. I had already visited that blog like 3 more times since I first saw it to see if it was closed yet, and yet it still hadn't each time I checked.
dmbrandon wrote at 2:25 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
They deleted it. It only took a public blow up, and an issue res thread. Amazing!
wWw Dazwa wrote at 2:26 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
I didn't even need to read the ****roach blog to know it was inappropriate

but it took someone to make this blog before it was even taken care of

come the **** on, mods

Jk, I agree with this blog's sentiments

i'm unsure as to why people who hate the site still continue using it even when their suggestions, whether they're legitimate or not, fall upon deaf ears every time

tbqh the admins aren't even active in order to look the other way. they're just literally not here LOL

Another drama blog yay.
Btw, you might want to correct the eight one. There's a typo in there somewhere.

"It's the standard to ask girl ont he site for nudes of themselves"

I agree with this blog on some levels though.
dmbrandon wrote at 2:39 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
I don't give a **** about typos. if that's what you're taking away from the blog, then you're enabling the site to be a piece of ****.
Itakio wrote at 2:40 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Well it's not like the mods are getting paid (they aren't, right?) to moderate AiB, so I don't see why you're getting mad at any mods. They can basically moderate whenever is convenient for them as far as I'm concerned. They're basically offering their services to us for free, even if they are small. I would only have a problem if they made things worse, but I don't think they do.

But yeah, you're right. This site pretty much sucks if you have the wrong people on your friends list, that's why I mostly just look at local stuff when I come here.
dmbrandon wrote at 2:41 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Itakio, the mods here, working for free or not, volunteered to help the site be a better place. Less than 10% function as such. Plenty of decent players/people would moderate for free, and do a much better job.

Your following sentence saying staff and users while using his quote implies he is both a staff and a user. But idrc, I digress.

Just because they aren't paid doesn't give them the excuse to be bias, do a poor job, and ruin things. If they don't want to mod, they don't have to mod. But if they want to mod, they gotta mod.
alt089 wrote at 2:44 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
why do you count player skill so much when it comes to being selected for staff positions

you've implied this many times before in other blogs/posts

a lot of people you consider "randoms" are actually active and contributing members of the SITE, which is what counts, even if they're not good at Brawl or w/e
dmbrandon wrote at 2:48 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Being good at the game should be a requirement. People who are bad at the game shouldn't be bossing around the players that help the community grow. Plain and simple.

Mango is an idiot a lot; everyone knows this. But he shouldn't be infracted by people that can't take stocks from him in tournament. Random mods are their to serve their egos, most of the time. If you can't play the game, you should HAVE to understand the game on an extremely deep level to mod. Otherwise, you're just an idiot looking for attention.
dmbrandon wrote at 2:49 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Take Enrish? Enrish is *** at Brawl, and doesn't understand high level metagame. So he doesn't care if the community dies. (As he doesn't mod anything, ever?) If Enrish was a top player, like MikeHAZE, he'd have a lot more to lose when some ****bag decides to turn his website into a cesspool of half naked anime girls and racial slurs.

While I agree with a majority of what you said and the underlying message that you're trying to send I disagree with one of the points that you said was "standard".

"It's the standard to post pictures of half naked 14 year olds."

No, it's not. I've seen 3...maybe 4? people even post pictures of anything remotely resembling sexually suggestive underage girls. I guess the fact that one of them is a staff member makes this a problem, but to say that it is standard I disagree with.

t0mmy wrote at 3:10 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Not all mods can delete/lock blogs, it could take a mod a while to get it reported.
It'd be nice to see users report any site rules that are being broken instead of just adding to the problem, not directing this at any single person, just putting it out there.
Hamek wrote at 3:13 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
There's no report button though t0mmy. If there were I'm sure way more people would report things they find inappropriate. But as of right now, you have to find a super mod or admin who's online, click their profile, click send message, then figure out how to word it without just sounding like you're complaining to complain. In addition, the staff members are staff members to find those types of things and delete them (or find a supermod/admin who can, if they can't)before they get out of hand. That's not the member's job, you shouldn't force the staff member's jobs on the members.
alt089 wrote at 3:13 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
You're exaggerrating a lot and thinking people need to be good at Brawl to moderate a website shows you really shouldn't have any influence in decisions on a site ever. =/

why the heck would 'good' players be the only ones eligible to become mods? do you honestly think that being good at brawl has any worth when it comes to real-life situations (or even simple moral conflicts) ?

no one blogs about brawl on this site and no one talks about it. the problem doesn't dwell in the blogs about competitive brawl, it dwells in the lack of mods and the rampant alt accounts who abuse the ladder system or make stupid *** troll threads.

IMO, we need mods that uhh... actually use the site. how about that?

i agree with your blog except for those key points, although im sure since im 'random' ill be ignored. who knows though, i might even be better than you at brawl. lmfao.

oh wait!!
i have one point i'd like to make:

it's kinda hard to enforce these moral high-ground situations since every single one of you (myself included) completely ignores the fact that this site is not age-restricted.

there are some things that are a given, like posting nudity.. but how are you going to enforce restrictions on what people can and can't talk about without completely destroying the site?

i think that there are some things that are not controversial at all (in the public's eyes) that should NOT be talked about. pedophilia is definitely one of them, followed by **** like "boku no picco" or whatever... that kind of stuff is just flat-out BAD.

things like gay marriage or marijuana laws or safe sex, though? those things should be protected. they are controversial topics. they are open to debate.

idk maybe im just spouting, but w/e. wanted to throw my RANDOM 2 cents out there.

This is exactly the problem some people have said exists: because it's "funny" and a "joke" it's ok. I saw the blog shortly before it was deleted so I know its contents. I'm really not sure how you could consider that appropriate for a PG13 site.

People who are good at managing things are managers. You don't need to be good at banking to take care of a dispute between employees.
dmbrandon wrote at 3:25 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Managers aren't in charge, the oversee small operations. And Managers must be versed in the content in which they manage. Don't be an idiot, please. You're arguing semantics. (And incorrectly, at that.)
dcold wrote at 3:27 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
I agreed with everything you've said, up until you said that good players should be the ones controlling the site. Maybe I'm coming off with bias, but I honestly don't think because you are better at this game than I am, means you are better abled to manage a site. The site is not apart of the game, you can wavedash in Melee, but how will that help you control and organize a website? If the idea of respect is something that is in your mind, then that is the fault of our own mindsets of not being able to take someone who's "under us" seriously, and up to them to prove them otherwise.

This reoccurring idea of better players should be in charge of the lesser players in things not directly linked to the game really should not be there. From my experience on this site and in the smash community in general, yes there are many many great people here, and some bad ones, but the top people are sometimes complete jerks because of the fact that they think of themselves as better than those "below" them on a skill level.

You may be better than -inset mod/admin name here- at Brawl, but does that alone make you more competent to run a site than they are? Honestly I'd love to hear your side
alt089 wrote at 3:27 PM on Feb 28, 2012 :
Hamek is right. Most top players seem like dorky idiots, anyways. Being good at Brawl has nothing to do with moderating.
