Out of a 100 man tournament...

Tier 1 (God Tier). Always places high in the top 1-4.

Tier 2 (Top Tier). Always places high in the top 5-10.

Tier 3 (High Tier). Always places high in the top 11-16.

Tier 4 (Middle Tier). Usually places mediocre in the top 17-33.

This list was thought of from the following evidence : live tournament results, characters performance on starter stages, and overall good match ups against the rest of the cast.
I've been playing all the characters that I have not been familiar
with, to get a better idea about how they would place on the tier list.
This tier list goes further in depth, adding PT's pokemon as separate to make them a hacked independent character, with no respawn switching and fatigue. Then there is the default or Balanced PT that uses all 3 pokemon equally. Zelda and Shiek is referenced as "used as both", because they both work around their weaknesses, Sheik for the damage racking, Zelda for the KOing. The
numbers represent a scale from 1-10. 10 Being the best. I have
researched facts to come up with this tier list and did some math. This is what the current metagame is right now, although it can change slightly. As for low tier tournaments, they should consist of Bottom - Middle tier characters.

I'll continually keep updating this, so you can use this tier list as a reference if you don't agree with the "official tier list" that was based on VOTES! Basing a tier list on votes is a bad idea, tier lists in fighting games all pertain to match ups, for the most part.

I've seen better C. Falcon,s Ganons, and Links more so than Jigglypuff. Also, do you know of any Jigglypuff that gets up high on the ladder or in live tournaments? I haven't seen that yet. With less hitstun in brawl it's harder to land a free rest.

I made some changes. Ok, maybe Yoshi is better than Samus, but PT has some different tiers depending on the pokemon, on average PT and Yoshi are pretty much at the same level, Ike has the broken jab game which is why he is slightly above Yoshi. Jabs are easy to hit with and rack up alot of damage quick.
Fox can easily land an Up+Smash with his speed. Fox is definitly not bad, he's a little above average. Any character that has an easy to land KO move, and hard to escape combos, a reflector to discourage projectile camping, and his rapid blaster which recharges move decay with each shot is definitly better than average.

MK too low. snake too high.... i.e. separate that into 2 tiers. Lucario Oli IC pika should be below marth wario and rob. mid tier and below doesnt matter

IMO MK should get his own tier at the very top. Snake should get his own tier under MKs'. I don't think DDD should be that high up. Maybe under Olimar considering he gets destroyed by everyone Olimar and up (except Snake).

Updated today... put Pit a bit higher than Toon Link, it's easier to KO with Pit than it is with TL, unless TL gets fortunate with a D-air spike. Pit also has longer range attacks, and 2 reflectors to discourage camping and Pit has a better recovery than TL and is heavier. TL has more projectiles options than Pit, more priority on attacks, and a better air game, and that's about it.
