Olimar is not top tier, I've learned him and become something extraordinary with him, but he isn't top tier. In my opinion, he's a faulty character and should be treated as such - like a risk. These are my match-up statistics for the characters I read you all dicussing. Match-up Statistics Olimar vs King Dedede (55-45) Reason being is that D3's aerial game can catch Olimar while he's offstage. His high damage to hit ratio moves means that he'll be able to get Olimar off the stage with fewer hits, then keep him there. Olimar on the other hand has complete stage control under any condition. He can out manuver D3, out spam him, out reach him, and KO him using USmash when he tries to use his Up Special. Olimar vs Meta Knight (50-50) Meta Knight is an excellent character, but Olimar has the ability to punish any mistake like it were ten. He can quickly rack on damage on Meta Knight and comfortably KO him at 85-100 provided you use the best KO option at the time. A lot of Meta Knights don't realize it, but things like Shuttle Loop (punishably by USmash from below) and DSmash (Punishable by grab or DSmash if perfectly timed) Meta Knight's best KO moves, can be punished very easily. The only time Meta Knight may give Olimar trouble is offstage where his aerials can keep Olimar away from the ledge if he can read Whistles. Olimar vs Mario (65-35) Usually this match is 65-35, in Olimar's favor, unless you're playing on Battlefield; in which case, it's 60-40. Olimar's, Red Pikmin are like living shields in this match-up because they cancel both Fire Ball and FSmash which are key moves for Mario. Olimar's got the ground game covered as usual here, but through a unique usage of Fire Ball Aerial approaches, Mario can get inside of Olimar's range and stay there. Mario is the capitan of S.S. Gimp which is where he can easily take down Olimar with any one of his gimp-handy tools. Olimar vs Ganondorf (80-20) If it wasn't for Ganondorf's beastly power, this match-up would probably be lower in Ganondorf's favor. Ganondorf cannot safely approach Olimar, it's as simple as that. Any Olimar who knows how to correctly space his or herself can avoid anything Ganondorf can through then punish with impunity. From the very moment the match begins the clock is ticking for Ganondorf to KO Olimar before Olimar's pikmin rack up 100+ damage and turn him into BThrow fodder.
