It has techically been bigger than melee for a long time. Apex 2010, Genesis, both extremely huge, and make former melee tournament attendance look small. They both have their place in smasher's hearts though, and both should be played competitively still, melee is still maturing like a fine wine (despite smashers being the most immature competitive gamers I have ever met).

Nope is the only one who got this right. It's because they didn't get the streaming rights, so most likely, they are getting pressure from their sponsors, most likely the sponsors said, if we can't advertise, we aren't signing onto another contract with this game that can't be streamed live.
