I don't really care about Birdo because Mario 2 characters are generally overlooked as being part of the Mario universe, but as a Mario character she is more recognizable and deserving of a spot than Ridley, whose game series hasn't even outsold Mario Kart, Nintendogs, and Barbie let alone the Mario series.
