(01) The original twelve fighters from Smash '99 will make it in, yes. They tend to have permanent "senior priority".
(02) I heard a few widespread rumors about the next Smash not having any wi-fi but what do I know, lol.
(03) Character replacements? Not sure about that either.

What I meant by "third party Nintendo characters" was minor characters from major Nintendo titles.

For example: Koopa, Goomba, Baby Bowser, King Boo/Boo, Birdo, Toad, Noki, Pianta, Petey Piranha (from the Super Mario series)
