Dissidia Online Thread!
Keep in mind that this is under construction. Considering the English release is 24 days away there's no rush. **IMPORTANT!**
You MUST have a wired connection for your PS3 for Ad hoc Party to work. If you use a wireless connection it WILL not work. Xlink Kai, on the other hand, will only work with a Wifi Max or other similar products.. If you don't have either of these things, you're not getting online. Table of Contents I. Creating a Japanese PSN and Downloading Ad Hoc Party II. Using Ad Hoc Party III. Xlink Kai IV. Usernames V. FAQ VI. Youtube Links Ad Hoc Party I. Creating a Japanese PSN and Downloading Ad Hoc Party *Note* You do not have to use the account for Ad Hoc Party. You only have to use it to download the application. Feel free to use AHP under your English account. Sorry in advance for the photos, specifically at the beginning. They get the job done, and that's what matters. Step 1. Create a new User Account on your PS3.
Step 2. Log into the new account and go to 'Sign up for Playstation Network.'
Step 3. Select 'Create New Account.' Click continue.
Step 4. Select Japan as your country.
Step 5. Leave the first two options alone and go to the third option. Select 1990 or below to avoid parental issues.
Step 6. Wall o'text ahoy! This is the license agreement, just hit next.
Step 7. The first textbox if for your email address. Feel free to put in a fake email. As long as it has @ and .com or .net, it will be accepted. The 2nd text box if for your password. It has to be at least 6 characters and have both numbers and letters. The third textbox is confirm password. Just retype what you put in. Make sure to check the checkbox, it will save your password. Next is the secret question, choose anything. The next box is obviously for your answer. Once again, put anything. Click next.
Step 8. This is your online ID or your PSN tag. If you're using this account for AHP, use a legit name. If not, just put in a username.
Step 9. If the name isn't taken, you should be here. Put anything in these two boxes, they're for your first and last name. Leave the third box as it is, gender is optional.
Step 10. You should be here:
Type 5 numbers into the first box. The next textbox will open a drop down menu.
MAKE SURE TO SELECT THE SECOND OPTION! For the rest of the textboxes, random letters will do. Step 11. DO NOT CHECK THIS BOX!
It will make you have to confirm your email, and if you use a fake account, you don't want that. Just hit next. Step 13. The final page, confirming all your info.
Click next. Step 14. Click the box to go to the Playstation Store.
Step 15. If you followed the instructions, the password should be saved already. Simply sign in.
Step 16. Go down to the second to last option. Click it.
Why, hello there Firion! Step 17. Go to the AHP icon. Click it.
Step 18. Click the first box.
Step 19. Click and download!
Step 20. Now, exit the Store. If you're like me and have a seperate account for AHP, sign into that now.
Step 21. Go under Games and find AHP.
Congratulations, you've gotten AHP. II. Using Ad Hoc Party *Note* As with all Japanese games, circle is for confirm and x is for cancel. And here we are at the main Ad Hoc screen.
Go down to the third option. Click it. It will begin searching for your PSP. In Dissidia, go to the online lobby. Shouldn't be too hard for everyone using the English version. When it finds it, the name of your PSP will appear. In my case, this is creatively named Alexis.
Click the second option. The first option will search for people playing your game in each lobby, but we don't want that. Go back to the first option and click it.
Use R1+L1 to scroll between the worlds(A,B,C,D, etc.), and the left analog stick will cycle between the lobbies (1,2,3, etc.)
D and F are the most used Dissidia rooms.
I typically go to F Lobby 1.
And now we're in!
Rooms are the houses. If the door is shut, the room is closed. If there's a x outside the house (unfortunately, none of the houses here have one) it requires a password to get in. Finally, if the door is open, you may join. To join a house, simply move the cursor over one, press circle, and click the second option. To create a room, move the cursor over an empty space, go to the second option, and press circle.
If you choose to create a room, this pops up.
You don't have to change a thing. The box with 4 creates a house for four people and the box with 8 creates a house for 8 people. The first box is the name of your house. It defaults to your username, but you probably want to name it after the game you're playing.. I dunno what the second box does, unfortunately. I'll look it up. The third box sets a password for the room.
And now you wait for someone to join. Press triangle here for a set of options. The first box is to leave the house, simply select the option of the left and press circle. The second box is your house's description. Put anything here. For something Dissidia related I suppose you can put "No equips!" or "Equips". The third option is to open or close the door. Finally, the four option kicks a player out of the room. It bans them and they cannot get back in. III. Xlink Kai Really, I'm not even going to lie. There's literally nothing to say here. This program has its own site. Go there for answers, because I've never used it myself. http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ Quick Start Guide: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/?go=quickstart Getting Your PSP running with Kai: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5649 How to tell if your router will work: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31389 Vista help guide: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26893 IV. Usernames PSN Xiolyphy Xlink Kai V. FAQ Q: Will Ad Hoc Party ever be released in English? A: Yes, Square has trademarked it in America. I don't think it's been confirmed by Square themselves though. Q: I was D/C'd from the person I was playing with in AHP! What happened? A: If someone not playing joins your room it has a tendency to lag and eventually d/c. Q: Do all PSPs/PS3s work with Ad Hoc? A: All PSPS work. The 20 gigabyte PS3 doesn't work with AHP, though. Q: Do all versions of games work with AHP? A: Yes, all versions work with it. People go on with English copies of games all the time. I'm pretty sure English and Japanese games cannot play with each other. As in, if I try to play a friend with the English version with the Japanese version it's not going to work. Q: Which application is more active? A: Right now, before the English release, Xlink Kai is dead. AHP is filled with tons of Japanese players and you can find an English player fairly often. Q: Can I use anything other than a Wifi Max for Xlink Kai? A: Wifi Max is the most commonly used option, and I've heard it's the easiest. There are other options, however. But most of them are sold out <_> *More to be added* VI. Youtube Links Ad Hoc Party setup/usage if the written guide wasn't enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UzTyDJSnl0 (Recommended, I used this when I first got the application) ...Oh my, the Youtube links section is extremely short..If anyone has any good Youtube guides for xlink Kai tell me, please.
