Explain to me why this is bad.
There's a lot of reasons.
1. They tried the same thing in Canada, and Britain. People have actually come to THIS COUNTRY to get care because the same system we're trying to implement here isn't working there.
2. Government doesn't know how to run healthcare. It really doesn't. Leave it to the private sector
3. This plan is coming from the same party that gave us the stimulus bill, which didn't work at all and was just another wasted lump of cash. This administration which is trying to get this bill passed has spent more money than any other administration in history, and hasn't gotten anything done with it.
4. IT ISN'T NEEDED. They're pulling numbers out of their asses like "47 million uninsured". However, here's something you DON'T know. A lot of these uninsured people are people who COULD afford health insurance, but choose not to buy it because they're young and healthy, or they just don't want to. Sure, there's a lot of people uninsured, but it certainly isn't 47 million.
5. Despite what you think, there WILL NOT be enough care. You have to wait for weeks in Canada to get some procedures done, what makes you think it wouldn't be the same here? There will be rationing.
TL;DR - Socialized healthcare doesn't work, and there isn't really a huge reason for it. The healthcare industry IS messed up, but socializing healthcare won't fix anything and will make it worse.
