Riddle Evaluates Each team's 2010 Season.
Well, we all know I'm starting with my favorite team. Let's go Cincy, Who Dey, all that jazz. Week 1: @Patriots. Oh boy, Tom Brady. My fear is that our secondary won't be that up to snuff, but, well, Houston beat them last year after Welker went down and they won't have Welker again this year. People keep mentioning Edelmann, but I can't say if he's the same. No two players are exactly alike, so we'll see how well Brady does. Moss is getting older as well. My prediction is this will come down to who has the better defense (protip: Bengals) and the better running game (protip: Bengals). Calling it a win (1-0). Week 2: Baltimore. Oh bo-...no, Flacco sucks. I don't get it. Most pundits rated the offseason the Ratbirds had better than the offseason the Bengals have had. Their major signing was Boldin, ours was Bryant. Most people say Boldin is better, but Boldin can't stay healthy while Bryant has been victim to horrible QBs (his best one before Palmer was arguably Jeff Garcia). They drafted better and have better value? I'm sure Atkins is better. We only had to draft one TE cause we drafted one last year. We got some huge sixth round value in Briscoe. Shipley is amazing and will do wonders for Palmer. The Bengals already have a better front seven that got hugely improved on the pass rush. People fear Baltimore. I don't. Calling it a win, it's at home (2-0). Week 3: @Panthers. This team might be fighting with the Bucs in the basement of the NFC South. They've jettisoned a very good number of their veterans and a number of their players are under 27. You have to wonder how well a team like this will do after just coming together to play together as well as having a not-so-spectacular draft? I can't see the Bengals losing this game. Calling it a win (3-0). Week 4: @Cleveland. ...you're kidding me right? Granted, the Brownies got better and Holmgren on that team helps tremendously, but they're in rebuilding processes. It's a toss-up, but we'll probably win this. If we don't, we really don't deserve the playoffs. Just ask Pittsburgh. Calling it a win (4-0). Week 5: Buccaneers Another rebuilding team. This team might have a pretty good defense, but they don't have Zimmer and I can't see their offense improving, especially after losing Antonio Bryant. See what I said for the Browns, subtract the part about Holmgren and sweeping, and you'll essentially have the same thing here. Calling it a win (5-0). Week 6: Bye. 5-0 to start ain't bad. Week 7: @Falcons I don't know a lot about this team, but I'm going to say that this team is no slouch. This is gonna be a toss-up game, Matt Ryan's not bad and their offense is incredibly decent. Their defense got better by signing Dunta Robinson too. We'll see who wins this game, gonna be close. For fairness' sake, we'll call it a win but it could go either way (6-0). Week 8: Miami Pittsburgh beat them last year. They improved their offense a lot, but their defense suffered a lot. I can't say a lot though, I don't know how much they've improved. I think we can win this one as well, but we'll see. Win (7-0). Week 9: Steelers Oh boy, a Monday Night game against Pittsburgh with Ben back and finally shaking the rust off. Well, they've lost Holmes, didn't really improve in the draft (hell, both the BEngals and the Squeelers had similar drafts if you look at their pick). I can't see them winning out here, especially at home. If Troy's around this long, maybe they'll have some help, but it's hard to say how long he'll be around. Calling it a win (8-0). Week 10: @Colts ...We're in Peyton's house? You expect us to go against that? Peyton shredded the Jets' #1 pass defense last year, even Revis. I can't see us beating him. We have a great defense, better than what the Saints had in the Super Bowl, but honestly, I don't see Peyton losing this easily. If we win, it'll be a huge upset. Calling it a loss (8-1). Week 11: Bills. ...next. Win (9-1). Week 12: @Jets. Probably the best game the Bengals will have all year. Thirsty for revenge after their loss to them last year and wanting a much better game against probably the best pass defense in the NFL, if not the best defense. Sanchez will have considerably better weapons as well. I cannot wait to be sitting in Kentucky watching this game and wishing that we had hosted the Jets so I could be at that game. Gonna be a damn good one, but I see a close loss. Calling it a loss (9-2). Week 13: Saints Oh man, this is gonna be another great game. I can't pick a winner here, I like both teams. Dat vs. Dey...Saints will have a #1 offense again. Their defense may take a couple steps backwards after losing some of the players that they have. I can't make this call, it will all depend on the Bengals' cornerbacks. Calling it a loss though (9-3). Week 14: @Steelers. ....see my last entry for them. They're fighting with the Brownies for the basement at this point. Win (10-3). Week 15: Browns Again, they're better, but we got better as well. We'll win. Win (11-3). Week 16: San Diego I hope to be at this game in person. Offensively, they're very potent, but their defense blows. They may have gotten better offensively, but I think they've taken steps backwards. People have them ranked as high as fourth best team. I don't see it. I don't fear them. We almost beat them last time against a slightly better defense. Now I feel they've taken a couple steps backwards. And it's in the cold Cincy night. Calling it a win (12-3). Week 17: @Ravens Gonna be a damn good game to finish the season with, but again, I don't fear the Ravens. We've made just as many improvements they have and we were the better team last year. It's gonna be a repeat. Win (13-3). Fair assessment or was I too biased?
Oh right, if you want your team evaluated, post it here.
(Read: I will not evaluate Minnesota because everything revolves around whether Favre comes back or not, I will not evaluate any AFCN teams, and I will not evaluate any team I know nothing about. That means you, Jacksonville.)
