I love how people complain on Pictochat and Jungle Japes while almost no one does on Brinstar, Rainbow Ride or Delfino Plaza. I wonder how the *beep* those 5 stages still excist in competitive play.

I dislike the fact that it makes it so that if you don't use the list it affects the chances of your tournament being featured.

JJ is still retarded. Seriously, the river isn't fair. And NO, I don't complain about the Klap Trap. I complain about the stupid river. If I get down in the water, I don't want to suffer from about 1sec of lag before I can do anything, it is too long and messes up so much! >.>

...You realize that this is the single most ridiculously noobtastic argument ever, right? If you know how it works, every character this side of Ike and Olimar can recover from anywhere right of the left-most ledge. "I don't like it"? Jeez, how the hell did you EVER come to grips with FD's ledges?

What are you talking about?

People complain about Brinstar and RC all the time >.>

In fact it's because of those two stages we need to have at least two stage bans.

Yea this, and only reason stages like this are legal is cuz Brawl doesn't have that many good stages for tourney sets honestly. icon_neutral

LOL INUI. xD

Inui has a point though, people aren't gonna take your opinion as seriously if you suck at what you have an opinion in. Especially if you're so hell bent that you're right about your opinion on the thing you suck at.

It's like a guy who sucks at baseball and cant' pitch for **** so he talks about altering the rules in some ridiculous fashion and in his mind it's more competitive and fair. And while he may be right, notice I'm not trying to discredit you here BPC, but while he may be right or wrong that is beside the point I'm trying to make. He's not gonna be taken as serious and no matter what he says it's gonna be in everyone's minds he's trying to alter the rules so he has more of a shot at something he sucks at.

...

Okay, fine. You calling it out? Where are your results, huh? You're calling me "horrible" at brawl with absolutely no idea what you're talking about...  Let's see here, what are you talking about? Well...
Very first tournament, Oktoberfest, I placed 4th out of 20. Not that impressive, I suppose, but it's a start.
I flat-out won teams (with Tham) at Smash@Slay, my second tournament.
I made it out of pools at Make Some Neuss, a fairly large international. I took a fair number of MMs there as well.
I placed 3rd (admittedly in part due to very poor bracket seeding) out of around 20 at LST^3, placing first in my pool as well...
I made it out of pools at Dogusch Smash (akin to Make Some Neuss), and made about a grand total of 20-30 euros in Money Matches while at the tournament, beating among others Bloody (second-best wario in germany), Kunai (best TL in germany), and Gale (a personal victory... He wrecked me at Smash@Slay and MSN singles, this time I dominated him).

And what are your results? Let's see... I'm seeing mostly fairly ****ty wifi tournaments, and even there your results are fairly shabby...

If you want to call someone out, then make sure you can hold to the challenge. I honestly didn't want to make this post. Considered making it back when Inui posted it at first... My german friends have mentioned it to me before that I'm far too quick to toot my own horn when it comes to my tournament results, but you know what? When I'm being called on it, I think it's justified. And you want to criticize me for that? I go to tournaments. I perform at tournaments. So if you're going to try to sling an ad hominem argument at me, at least make sure that it is accurate and justified. And that you're not just being a big hypocrite.

THAT SAID. It's still ****ing ad hominem. It is still the oldest fallacy in the book. The only reason it works is because people are morons. Seriously. I can say with almost 100% certainty that I know more about competitive ruleset design and the stagelist than Inui ever will. The only reason he gets any attention is because he's kind of famous in the smash community. But you know what? There's a good reason that "lol inui logic" has become something of a catchphrase on SWF, and why he usually posts here, where people are less informed and more idiotic, and where he has the ability to ban anyone who calls him on his bull****... Inui has no idea what he's talking about quite often. Asking Inui about rulesets is like asking M2K about the Diddy Kong matchup. Some random scrub off the street is a better source of information than that! If I was basing my opinion and my arguments on my reputation, then yes, it would (debatably if you ask an SWFer, which is, in retrospect, kinda sad) matter that Inui disagrees with me. I'm not.

@San: Doesn't double jump + upB just not get him far enough to the side?

Cadat while those are very impressive it's sad to say that since you live in germany you might not be taken as seriously.

I honestly think you should.
But people these days think that the U.S and Japan *Europe to sort of* have the best players and the most advancement in their metagame. Players who come over here usually don't do as well as they do in their normal countries. Like rain placing lower than brood when Rain beats him all the time over there.

Sucks we think that way =/

On japes, Ike only dies if you get into the part of the water where you can't even double jump, or very near that range. Meaning, up to the far left side, and anywhere close to the left platform Ike can recover.

Cadet I would rape you very badly in Brawl and would gladly MM you at a USA national lol

GAY is correct (and also a fairly decent player)

you make crazy as **** arguments a lot about **** almost everyone hates, and you try to shove YOUR definition of competitive down everyone's throats

shut the **** up sometimes; we don't want it spammed at us all day and all night in big walls of text filled with you crying about people not listening to you

I don't doubt that. So would M2K. Would you listen to his opinion about what the ruleset should look like?

I hate to bring this attitude, but I'm right and you're wrong. You haven't even tried arguing; you've simply said "why listen to that german scrub". And you know what? I've got a reason why you should listen to "that german scrub". Because for some insane reason, other people are starting to take me seriously. I know, right? It's insane! All I've done is provide reasonable argumentative logic, time after time, and people are listening to me! Prove me wrong and I'm out of your hair. Keep saying "lol scrub" and wait until you belong to that lonely crowd of people completely ignoring me, next to Xyro and Darknid, and the rest of the smash community starts picking up on these ideas. Sound like I'm placing myself too high? Have you seen the SWF discussion thread for the unity ruleset? I don't hold much influence on my own, but in all of the smart people in the smash community, some people do. And they're listening to me.

Furthermore, "my definition"? "Crazy as ****"? Let's clear some things up here.
IT IS NOT CRAZY AS **** TO SAY THAT SOMETHING SHOULD BE PROVEN BROKEN BEFORE IT IS BANNED. That is the single most retarded thing I have ever heard. I thought Sirlin cleared this up ages ago. I'm sorry, but I happen to be the kind of person who waits to see if a strategy can be beaten before I go and start banning ****. For some reason, I'm not alone, and you know what? I'm likely to trust the regions who have PTAD legal and play on it regularly with no problems whatsoever to the regions that never play it. Same with Japes, Norfair, and any other stage. Norfair... K, we got texas saying "this stage is kinda gay with wario". And then we have MLG, where the stage was rarely banned, rarely picked, and not really proven to be that retarded... And then we have Atlantic North showing off their incredible knowledge of stages and I feel more and more disinclined to trust them on, well, anything. The commentary alone is enough to make me cringe, and it makes me understand why AN has the most conservative stagelists: they suck at stages. And by they I include you.
And then you call my definition of competitive gaming crazy? I hate to break it to ya, but it's completely logically derived from one axiom. One axiom that every competitive game has followed and most game designers have as a mantra: "Depth -> competitiveness". Reject this, and you have completely senseless results such as my classic example, Chess being as competitive as Tic Tac Toe. This has basically been the very guidelines of competitive gaming since the antiquity. It's not my definition.

And you know why I shove it down everyone's throat? Because I enjoy being right. I like it when the game becomes more competitive more than my own comfort. I prefer sensible solutions to ANs steady march towards Japan. I think that if I was wrong, someone probably would've said something slightly more convincing than "shut up, we don't care". Because people do care, are caring.

Lol I'm not forcing my opinions down anybody's throats.

I think you're just a bad player who has a bad scene so you do okay in it if that. Yup.

I bet a random who plays DK from our state like say PbBear would you rape your MK BTW.

The post wasn't created to be like LOL BPC is a BAD PLAYER, (this one was however). The post was created to show you why people aren't gonna take your posts as seriously as they could if say someone like M2K said something about the game of Smash. Cuz in order to play as well as he does, he must understand it very well. You haven't proved to anyone you understood it other than writing big chunks of text about the game.

Theory crafters man, they are annoying and this coming from someone who used to be one.

Red Ryu rooted the Green Bay Packers to their fourth Super Bowl win, Favre or no Favre.

M2K is also the same guy who said Diddy was the best character in the game, and MK loses to Olimar and Fox.

He knows the game, not sure how well he can explain it.

There are players I consider worse than him and I trust them far more at discussing the game.

This is coming from the guy who got kicked out of the BBR for getting temp banned on SWF multiple times, started some pretty large **** storms with his region to which multiple people wanted him gone, and is currently permabanned from SWF.

BTW is Ike still the 5th worst character in the game?

Quote (originally posted by falln):
its less on the character that's planking and more on who you're planking

almost every character in the game can successfully plank falco

Multiple characters can't do this to Falco, some on the List Zebra listed probably could, Zelda planking him? doubt it.
