Weekly Contest: Guess the Card
I am happy to introduce a new weekly contest for people to participate in: Guess the Card! It’s similar to Octane’s Guess the Macro (actually, it’s the same thing), but with a focus on TCG cards. One major difference is that there will be prizes!
It’s simple enough; just guess what TCG card you think the macro came from. For example:
The answer to this one would be Challenge. This one wasn’t too much of a challenge though (I hope). Difficulty levels will vary. Sometimes the macro image might even be rotated!
I am planning for the contest will be updated every
Saturday. The time will not be consistent because it may be impossible for me to log on a specific time.
Rules -Submit your answers to me
through PM. The title should be something along the lines of “Guess the card contest # whatever contest we’re on”. Answers posted on the board or in shoutouts will be deleted.
-In the event that my PM box fills up, leave me a shoutout (but don’t post the answer!). If it happens to occur during the deadline, people who left a shoutout will get a one day extension on their answer.
-You may
submit only one entry per week. So make sure you have the right card identified before messaging!
-Make sure your answer is clear. Sometimes cards have different versions with the same name. Submit something such as: “Hanenbow with the flower” to identify which one you are guessing. Unclear answers will be disqualified.
-Entries will be accepted until
Friday at 12pm (noon, not midnight) CST after the contest started. Prizes will be awarded before the next contest starts.
-After a few days I will post hints on request. Hints will be something along the lines of what series or category the card is in).
-I’m not sure if I should even bother putting this down, but don’t share answers. If you are discovered doing this you will be banned from guessing in all future contests. It’s not worth it, really. Don't submit with alts either.
-The correct answer will be announced when the next contest starts.
Prizes If you are able to get the correct answer within the week, you will win four cards:
2 commons, 1 uncommon, and 1 rare. You will also get
1 lottery ticket (figuratively).
Each week will have a random UR (or some other good card) as the prize for the lottery each week, which will be announced. So basically, if you submit the correct answer you will always have a chance to get an UR for the week! The lottery number will be picked by an RNG. There will be 3 lottery winners per week.
There are also participation prizes! Regardless if people actually get the right answer, coin prizes will be rewarded as follows.
10 people - 100 coins
20 people - 500 coins
30 people - 1000 coins
However, if only a few people get the right answer (25% or below - tentative number), there will be bonus cards awarded to those people. They will most likely be around the level of rares, but depending on how few people got the answer correct, it may go to URs.
Special Weeks On some weeks, the prize distribution/rules will be different. Here’s a summary:
The general setup for guessing the image is the same (though the macros themselves might be harder). However, the top 15 people will get a specifically chosen prize (which will be stated for the week). These will be harder to get/better cards such as Pokeballs, Smashballs, Promos, Keepsakes, 5,000 coins, or some random UR. Everyone not in top 15 will get a normal participation prize, as usual (lottery ticket included).
