I have MAJOR problems vs Olimar... His pikmin can be thrown faster than Links projectlies, also Zair isnt that effective on Olimar. Hes very hard to approach...

Olimar is really hard. He's short so arrows are going to be hard to hit him, same with Zair. And if a Pikmin sticks to you, you can't do an arrow or boomerang since it's just going to hit the Pikmin. What you should really be scared of is his BADASS grabs, it has range, speed, damage, and power.

against oli what you need to look out for is his grabs, spacing, pikmin projectiles, and "combos."
Oli's like to dthrow cg, dthrow to upsmash to uair, dthrow to fair to grab to dthrow, etc.
His best KO moves are his upsmash and dsmash and an undecayed fair, although this is usually not possible as they like to use fair often. His pikmin spam is highly impressive and they can act as a shield around you that causes your own bombs to explode on you when you throw them. He is light and he has a bad tether recovery that is only as long as the number of pikmin he is holding. The tether can be edgehogged but if done incorrectly can lead into a stage spike. If he manages to make his way back to the stage without his upB, he can dair you at the ledge for a spike. His upB can also be used as an attack move on ground if you approach via air. He also can do very well on norfair since it helps his recovery issue and his spam and aireals stay effective (his uair outprioritzes our dair i believe). However, I have been told that RC is a terrible stage for him which is lucky for us since it is our second best stage.

If you're gonna edge-guard an olimar they use their whistles to get super-armor...find out if they're an air-dodger or whistle user and try to punish and get that sweet gimp. I don't play that many Olimars so that's all I can say...

In my honest opinion though, it's around 60:40 olimar... but maybe that's because I used to play arkive zero a lot. Olimar definitely has a lot easier match-ups, but link takes awhile to kill and definitely can match olimar's camp if done correctly.

nice vid. i was wondering why arkive was rolling more than normal then saw the date lol. i'll be the mediater and say 65-35 olimar. however, i dont have much exp. with the matchup. i find being at least somewhat aggressive is the best way to play an olimar. at least the ones i face. its possible for link to match olimars camp but i think in most cases olimar would win that. but with all of links laggy moves, olimar is gonna be grabbing link whenever he wants. link just has a big advantage in weight and killing potential. rainbow cruise seems like the best option. (i coulda sworn i saw somewhere on the SWF oli boards that THEY should take US to RC lol...)

You can d-air much more often against olimars, right? But they do pretty much nullify bomb games, so that's a major loss. One thing, though: Japes may be a really good stage to CP against an Olimar.

I spend far too much time against Olimars attacking his Pikmin, forcing him to run back and pluck some more tends to hurt him a bit, I think. I think it's important to fight this match just outside his chucking range. Keep your distance at all times.

I'm one of the few pro-RC advocates on the oli forums at swf... I doubt someone said that @.@ Especially since arkive told me that's his favorite stage.

Dair isn't the best option against olimar... he can usmash it.... which doesn't really do anything but clank. Though I could be wrong on this.

I think I remember either Olimars Up-Smash or Up-Air eating through Dair when I tested it a few months ago.

Although, a lot of Olimars are semi-stationary so...you could maybe through the dice doing it but. . . ^ ^ ^

Best approach options for Link against Oli (face it, Link has to be the one to approach xD): Zair and jab through his pikmin. Then...get smashed/grabbed. xD

The pikmin just NULLIFY Link's projectiles.  Not just his bombs...but just one pikmin stops his rang and arrows as well.  The purple ones just go straight thru everything... xD 

Man, this is one baaad matchup for Link...

Link's best bet, IMO, would just be to sit back and fend off the pikmin without leaving himself open (there's no way, even on FD, that you can space with those things xD).  It's hard to pull off, but if you can just get him to come up close or run out of pikmin, you can hit him.
