But it's easily SDI'able and it's priority (read: reach) is terrible. Could be used as an OoS option, but you can still SDI out of it and punish the awful landing lag. =_=

So after all of this, Diem's points still stand, there is no way to deal with planking for any char and it deserves a ban. How about a 60-70 ledge grab rule and on top of that, a rule disallowing 6 consecutive ledge grabs without being engaged by your opponent. I don't think Yoshi can ledge cancel eggs to 6..and even if he can, **** yoshi.

You're not going to be able to get rid of planking without limiting some characters unless you have a "referee" that watches the game and calls the player out for planking. Even if you can manage to set it up, the question that remains is, "What do you do after the ref decides that somebody's planking?" Do you reset the match to the same stocks and handicap the planker? Does the planker lose the match after a certain number of recorded plankings? Is the planker just flat out disqualified after planking too many times? Even if you can answer these questions, the fact that not all refs would have the same definition of planking would throw screw around with things. In the end, the only thing that you can truly do to get rid of planking is to switch to melee...

I keep telling you, the solution for defining the limits to planking lies in the framerate. Get the actual number of invincibility frames, take the most extreme examples (Marth/G&W upB invincibility added in), and determine just how much stalling you're actually doing. It'll be easier to set limits that way.

In my opinion your right
anything should go in tournies
I mean
Personally I prefer the neutral stages
but
in a tourney anything should be aloud
They only do it for the johners
if you cant get around your opponents level or skill @ a level or anything their doing period
why play the game
if you know theres a possibility you can lose
figure out ways around your weakness' period

I'm still getting around "johners" and "if you cant get around your opponents level or skill @ a level or anything their doing period why play the game if you know theres a possibility you can lose"

edit- just realized this thread was revived and I responded to an almost month-old post. How is planking even still an issue?

I took care of it.  I'll just close this unless Umbre can convince his conscious to reopen it.
