Hive Minds, Conformity and the Spiral of Silence.
In the beginning humans came together because we needed each other's abilities. Then we became to dependent and we started to evolve to be submissive. submissive to people that we think are superior. isn't this whole world ruled by forced artificial scarcity? And that we all think we can be ourselves but we can't?

Why are we all on this forum? I mean the majority of us aren't even playing brawl. Do we have a need for security? Closure? Like minded individuals who won't judge us because we have anonymity?

The Internet is an incredible device for sharing opinions with one another. Yeah, in many places and in certain groups, cultures or social circles, saying the wrong thing can alienate you from others. But it's not just because we don't want to offend people who are superior. Perhaps it's people like our family that we want to maintain a relationship with, but would take great offense with some of your opinions. A lot, probably most people on this forum live with their parents. The Internet provides a fantastic window for you to see out of and communicate with like-minded individuals from the (un)comfort of your own home. And to openly express disagreement with not-so-like-minded people, without the fear of it affecting your life.

Spiral of Silence

I'm sure most people that are here picked this forum because they grew up with Nintendo though.

To true. Us basement dwelling nerds are birds without wings. We know that we have creative and intellectual potential, but we lack the proper social skills to succeed. Pretty soon the majority of society will be like us because we're too scared to think we loathe each other.

I don't quite understand wht the spiral of silence has to do with anything. I'm here because most of the people here share common intrest. There is nothing wrong with people gravitating to each other and spending a majority of their time with those people. It because a problem when corruption exist.

The spiral of science even happens on the internet but to a less extent in mainstream society were nobody talks to each other and carry on their buisness like zombies. There's a social commentary of it in Shaun of the Dead, life is back to completely normal even with the zombies, and when zombies were first coming people were to scared to mind anybody's buisness besides their own in fear of rejection. Humans have evolved to be submissive and to think like each other.

I dislike Brawl. I still post everyday in GS.

This site could be called "Hourglasses R Us" and I would still post. The name of the site doesn't have any say in whether I post, it only attracted me here in the first place.

However, if the name had been different, I would've had a different first impression, and most likely not posted.

Although I did first come here because I love Melee, and liked Brawl at a point.

The reason I'm here is because of the people, the humour and the fun. Not because of Brawl. In fact, in GS, we've discussed hundreds of games, and rarely ever talked about Brawl.

Just sayin'.
~There are many types of monsters in this world. Monsters who will not show themselves and who cause trouble, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood. And monsters who always tell lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance. They are much more cunning than other monsters. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart. They eat, even though they've never experienced hunger. They study, even though they have no interest in academics. They seek friendship, even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such a monster, I would likely be eaten by it. Because in truth, I am that monster~

You sound depressed.  Sure we rely on other people but there's no predetermined behavior norm.  Be original, assertive, independent- yourself.  Who's stopping you, submissive conformists?

I like the wifi chats/ladders.  People judge other people all the time regardless of anonymity; I might name several character forums but shouldn't.

My insomnia plays a part in why I visit the off topic forums.  Mostly, I'm here because I like it.  Great discussions, thought provoking, people from around the world post, great people, well moderated, need I say more?

I'm here because of Social Chat, nothing else. Occasionally Role-Play, and the ladder, but that's it.

I came to this forum thinking reddit == hivemind and you were all talking about some of the social websites out there that encourage a "hive mind" setup.

I seem to be mistaken. Woops.

I came back to this because I started playing brawl again. I play mario cart wii more now days (because its fun even when I loose), but its still fun to get competitive once in a while.
