Help with Charity Tournament
Greetings to all, I am a student at Samford University, a decent size college in Birmingham, Alabama. As many of you know, Alabama recently got hit with a ridiculous number of tornadoes, and everyone on campus wanted to particpate in volunteer efforts. My friends and I, passionate about loving people and Super Smash Bros, decided to hold a Smash tournament to help raise funds. With only a few days of shoddy advertising, we were able to raise $100. Excited that we are making a difference, we decided to host a tournament next fall when school gets back in session to raise money for a different charity. THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP. We would really love any and all ideas to help make this tournament run smoothly and to maximize our fundraising efforts. We also have so many questions. Should we advertise outside of our campus, like at Gamestops or online forums? How many and how should we go about procuring consoles, controllers, and prizes? What kind of rules do we put in to make it a legitamate smash tournament and a charity function? I have a copy of the current ruleset and flyer we are looking at using, but I admit that I do not know how to upload it as a downloadable link on this forum. I also have looked at the various posts about running a tournament on this site and downloaded tio, so please don't refer me there. My friends and I thank you for your support, and while I cannot speak for Holt International Children Services, I am sure they appreciate it.
