E3 advanced pre-planning (making sure the tradition lives on)
Yes, I know it's next year. But I checked for the hell of it and the site's up so naturally I got stoked: http://www.e3expo.com/

I want to make a plan now so I have plenty of time to set up any sort of activity or participation aspect of the festivities for next year. I also want to know if anyone even comes to this part of the forum any more. I love posting on here every year and would hate to see the tradition die.

I only come here when something important has happened.

No one here cares about the great games coming out this fall (Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3 etc) with the exception of Zelda and Kirby. Zelda has been discussed up the wazoo and Kirby doesn't really warrant discussion, he just kind of comes and goes.

Hence the deadness. Don't worry, we'll start posting once E3 comes around.

Well everybody is super hyped about Zelda, so yeah.

But I am sure that just because somebody doesn't mention a game it doesn't mean they are not looking forward it, I haven't mentioned KOF: XIII, yet I am super hyped for the game.

Make a topic about said games, people will talk.

If not then I suggest you to

Long time no chat bc! That's reassuring to know. If you have any ideas for activities/pre-show participation let me know.

Also doesn't that homepage get you hyped?

Sure. And yeah it does haha.

Also, this thread makes me want to make a Zelda one. Our discussion on it is far overdue, we haven't convened in ~6 months.

Lol I have a crazy idea.

I've been dabbling in Gamemaker for a while; what if I make a point-and-click "E3" video game? I could work a whole story around it, and it would take place inside a virtual LA Convention Center. As you progress you unlock arcade mini-games based on games being hyped or rumored for E3 2012 (even if they never end up being announced). Also, as the show gets closer and closer more parts of the convention center open up!

Also, at the start you are a reporter. You get to choose which of the Big 3 you are reporting on and that gives you a "pass" allowing you to get into that company's area and play their mini-games. To obtain other passes you must find other reporters and "duel" them by answering trivia from E3 2011 and playing mini-games.

The backgrounds can be screenshots from E3 2011 and the other sprites can be simple pixelated graphics. The sounds can be crowd noise and chill bg music.

If anyone thinks this would be a fun diversion as we count down the days until the show let me know! And if you can/want to help in any way say so!

Quick question: Would anyone be interested in having a chat-room event during the E3 press conferences?

Elaborate.

Fen, in response to your question -- I would. The AIB chat or some other one? I really dislike the AIB chat, but then again I'm just really used to Xat chats.

I was just planning AiB chat. Nothing like video chat, just a real-time text chat. I've never used a chat program b4 which is why I suggested AiB, plus it makes sense here since I'll be logged on p. much all through E3 anyway.

If you have a good chat program you recommend we can look into it though.

Xat chat is completely different from the AiB chat.  Here's a picture of a simple Xat chat room (that for some reason shuffles through various ways on how it can look) :

The only problem is for best results, you need to make a website and create the chat -- but it's pretty simple.
This is the site I'd start from (if necessary, I'll build the website): http://www.webs.com/

But if you're really for the AiB chat, I'll work with it, I honestly just hate how it restricts you with how much you can write in a single post.

I say lets see if anyone else is interested. If it's just 2-3 people AiB chat works fine, if it's any more than that we'll use Xat.
