Sup Oregon, I have recently had a few thoughts about coaching and the tournament scene, mostly inspired by
this thread on smashboards. I have not seen a lot of coaching in Oregon tournaments but still I thought I would throw this out. Not everyone playing smash in Oregon knows someone that can give them a rundown of a certain match they are having trouble with, or point something out to them during a set. And if one player has a coach and the other doesn't it makes it pretty unfair (Depending on how good that coach is of course). So what I purpose is that we have volunteer coaches, which is exactly what it sounds like. Before a tournament we ask players if they would like to be a coach for that tournament and if during the tournament someone needs a coach to even the odds a volunteer coach can be called over. Beyond just being fair to both parties I think this could really help new players who are having trouble sticking with the game due to the initial skill gap.
So Oregon, what say you?
