Also there are plenty of creative sports games. I hardly buy any - most recent being NBA Jam, a surrealist and incredibly strange take on the genre - but even I know that the genre is misunderstood.

Please, stop assuming the MLB 2K and Madden series encompass the entire genre, because they don't. They're just the two worst.

And you're argument against them was taking a bunch of the games people listed, many of which were given good reviews and/or enjoyed by millions of people, and saying they sucked based on your entirely subjective opinion, and THEN saying that those millions who enjoyed it are just "eating sh** up."

Well then I guess you're right on the money because I pretty much am about four levels of meta-hipster. The reason that I listed those games there is because I love them and they are good. Also, if I listed every one of my favorite game series, it would take me too much time to write it down.

If you were affronting the fact that I am asserting better taste, while still preferring these "big names"... well I don't know what you hoped to gain. Mario games and Zelda games are good. Even Zelda II, as awful as it was, was something different, and even then, when the video game industry was recovering from a near-death experience, Nintendo had balls to go so radically different from a predecessor. I'm sorry that I don't drink the fine wine of the video game world, whatever that is, but good taste would be more appropriately defined as liking something worth liking, and in my eighteen years of gaming, I have never tasted failure from any of the series I have listed on my profile.

I'm guessing you haven't played Star Force then.

I enjoyed Star Force, not because its story was any good at all, but because the character designs were actually pretty interesting most of the time, the gameplay was solid and based on a winning formula, and it had enough change to qualify for a new series. The lack of alphabetical chip codes was disappointing, but overall, Star Force was good.

Taste is all subjective as well. It can't be defined. What one may define as good taste, another may not.

Opinions can't be right or wrong. There's no such thing as an incorrect opinion. There isn't a correct opinion either.

And Zelda II wasn't awful. It was a great game, and you don't like it either because of its difficulty (which I will admit is unforgiving) or because it's a side-scroller.

I literally just commended Zelda II for it being something Nintendo took a chance on. Zelda II is awful in the sense that Zelda I is awful.

Not my intent at all. Just going off of what I've seen in the past, and those two reasons are what people typically cite as to why it's bad. My apologies if you took offense.

I is just so... vague about everything. Even more so than II.

If the games listed in my profile are any indication, I love both sidescrollers and unforgiving difficulty. I've played through some hellish games that were far worse than Zelda II and been proud of myself for it.

Zelda I was just poorly translated.

I guess that was part of it, but the game itself was boring. In the same way I consider Space Invaders and Pac-Man boring, though, maybe it's just my age.
