This is a ladder game vs Wario:

Wario's ridiculous air speed makes him hard to Dtilt or LK. It's nothing great but critiques are welcome.

I beat my first decent Olimar with Zelda icon_smile . It's one of the milestones to growing as a player; beating a really bad MU.

I couldn't time my air dodges right and they kept buffering wrong and making me be juggled more until I finally decided UpB down to the stage was better :/ .

first off, uair & 2 lightnin kicks, great way to start the match

secondly, u were very aggressive & zelda doesn't have the best approach to say the very least... take a second to stop, think and/or retreat for better spacing. watch & study wolf from 0.26-0.30 (even though he missed) & from 2.25-2.40 where he rapidly caught up with u by dodging ur nayru's & dsmash, while he took only 2% damage...

idk if im any much use as im not very good at all, but thats what i got from the video. it was a very close match if i may add icon_smile

The 5th match glitches out at the end but I lost the 2v1 by running into aether and getting dragged off stage. Sad I was. Enjoy the vids, and any advice is welcome.

I posted this on SWF and I figure I leave this here as well. Haven't been here in some time.

Hey everyone. So I recently got my videos put up and I thought I'd post them around to get any feedback, constructive or destructive, about my playstyle/habits. Unless otherwise specified, all matches are on wi-fi, so I probably got away with things that wouldn't have happened offline. Most of them are from last year though. Thanks.

Guess I'll be the first to leave some feedback. Note that I'm just basing this off of that one match you linked.

Your playstyle feels a bit empty. By that I mean, I feel that you're just throwing attacks out, hoping they hit and then going from there. That sort of playstyle doesn't exactly work for Zelda, since she's so easily shut down by other characters.

You seem to nair a lot and at random times. Just thought I'd point this out.

Using Farore's Wind while above the stage is just asking to get hit. That move has too much startup and ending lag to just be used whenever. You should avoid using that move unless you're trying to recover, as it leaves you vulnerable to attack for long periods of time.

The last thing I'd like to point out as that you need to work on your lightning kicks. You threw a ton out there but only sweetspotted like three of them. Also, that being Zelda's strongest KO move, you don't exactly want to decay it by using it so much like that. If you have a lightning kick opportunity, feel free to go for it, but don't just throw that move around.

The tall skinny characters are throwing off my sense of spacing. Nice edge hog 1st KO.

I don't feel like your playstyle was empty. I thought you did pretty decent actually. It's hard to say that you didn't try to make some reads on your opponent, when I feel like your opponent didn't do too many reads on you, other than play around with jab to grab, or jab and wait (though most Captain Falcons like to do this on wifi).

I like that you don't have an excessive spot dodge/air dodge/roll habit, or at least, not too much. You also seem to like nair as much as I do lol. Nice nair cancels. I believe the reason you 'throw out lightning kicks' as Linkz put it, isn't always because you actually want to sweet spot, but also to space/cancel. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Cause that's what I'm usually doing when I use any other aerial other than nair to cancel. I use it as a spacing option.

You should post more vids sometime. And some offline ones too.

Interesting use of Farow's on platforms. It looked risky though.

Throwing attacks out: I hear what you're saying but I tend to do that as a way to cover my tracks. Granted, it won't make much of a difference but the difference between surviving and dying is really just a few %'s every now and then. I'll try to work on that.

Random N-airs: I believe I do this alot specifically against Falcon because I find it to beat/interrupt his aerial approaches. I wouldn't dare do this against a Marth though.

FW: This usually provides me with a mix-up. This time it didn't work though so that's understandable.

LK: I don't go for the sweetspots all the time. I use it as a way to escape an unfavorable position or to cover my tracks while retreating.

Everything you mentioned, for me, varies from MU to MU and from player to player. I'll link more vids here but based on this match alone, your observations are spot on. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks. I thought he was gonna up-b but this works out fine regardless lol.

I tend to base my playstyle off from reads more to make up for my lack of AT usage (I don't Love Jump at all, I rarely ledge-warp cancel, and I have a less than 50% chance of using Nayru's Momentum canceling carefully so you won't see me doing it often as well.)

I have a bigger spot dodge habit than this video shows lol. Granted, I've gotten better but it still shows. The excessive LK usage is as you say; I don't always intend to sweet spot it, but rather as a way to give myself room between me and my opponent. And I have more online videos. I can get more offline videos if my friends would allow me to save the replays of my Zelda, which doesn't happen often lol. However, I've transferred schools now so hopefully there's a bigger scene at my new school.

Thanks everyone for the input. I appreciate it greatly.

I just watched all the videos. Was pleasantly impressed, despite them being wifi matches and idk opponents. Things that stood out to me the most were your uses of aerial canceling (Zeldas don't do this enough), of being very aerial based, weaving in and out kinda like a Wario in some ways. You also had some very good reads, particularly in situations where you were tech chasing your opponent, predicted the roll, and punished. Not only did you punish, but with lightning kick of all things. On wifi. Yeah that's definitely not easy to do. And a lot of lightning kicks in general. And excellent usage of d-tilt to up-tilt at high percentage. You're also very grab and nair happy like I am. xD

Another thing that stood out for me was your quick reaction time, especially out of shield, or dealing with annoying moves like Falcon's jab. We should play sometime (though we have before a long time ago). Keep up the great work, you have potential (:

Thanks Mocha. Hearing that from an excellent Zelda main as yourself is really empowering, seeing as you barely know me lol. I wouldn't mind playing you again if I didn't despise Zelda dittos so much -_-...

I do have more videos, but at the discretion of the person I asked to put them up (I asked for alot of vids, both Zelda and others) so it may take a while for the next ones to come up but when they come up, I'll put them up.

Any other input is greatly appreciated as well icon_smile

You're welcome, and nah, I'm not as good as people uptalk me to be. I'm just trying to improve and help others who are trying to improve as well. And yeah I've seen you around, but you don't post much. Which is a shame, because it'd be nice to see some more activity around the Zelda boards (both AiB and SWF) in general.
