If you're a beginner to Smash, what's one of the
first things you learn? The moves of the characters, right? Well,
that's an easy answer -- those are the basics. You can't play if you
don't know what the controls are.
So, let's say
you've mastered the controls and the moves of your character(s). Have
you learned all there is to learn about Smash? Not really. If you knew
everything about Smash, you would probably never lose. But chances are,
unless you're someone like Ken or M2K, there's someone out there who's
better than you. ^_^
The question now, then, is, what makes one player better than another?
There are countless answers to that question. And that's the premise
behind this series: We're going to explore some of those answers.
Learning the controls of Smash is important, true, but there's a lot
more out there to learn.
A quick disclaimer before we begin:
This series is intended mainly for beginners and intermediate Smashers.
If you're an experienced player, you probably won't have very much to
learn from this series. You know more than the vast majority of
Smashers, anyway. xD And now, on to the article.

One fateful day, a player lost a game of Smash. Distraught, he sought the advice of Isai the Wise.
"Isai the Wise," the player inquired, "what should I do differently from now on to prevent myself from losing?"
