All is Brawl Ladder rules

All is Brawl welcomes you to the Brawl Fall Singles ladder!

Our rankings ladder works like many other ranking systems: you earn Skill Points for beating opponents and rise and fall in our overall rankings based on your points. By bringing structure and risk/reward to Brawl's online play we hope to make an exciting and competitive environment for all Smashers. Through Microsoft's TrueSkill ranking system, we bring the same system used by XBOX Live games to the Smash community for world-class accuracy in rankings. And we wrap it all up with the only complete matchmaking experience on any Smash site: our custom chat room, where you can find & challenge opponents, report scores, and leave feedback within a friendly chat environment. There's no easier way to start Brawling!

Before you start playing, however, you need to review the following rules.

General Rules:
  1. All players are responsible for checking the rules regularly, as rules may change without notice.
  2. By joining the Match-making chat, or by taking part in the ladder, you acknowledge the current rule set, and agree to abide by said rules in participation of the ladder.
  3. You may not have more than one account on the ladder at any given time. Any person in breach of this will be banned from the site without heistation.
  4. While trash talk is part of the game, any major unsportsmanlike conduct, or verbal abuse to another player or the staff will not be tolerated. This is on a case-by-case basis, but punishment can lead from a warning to a permanent ban from the ladder.
  5. Do not spam or flood the Match-making chatroom. Offenders may be banned.
  6. Chat room moderators will be on at most times to handle disputes. If you have a problem with another user, do not take it into your own hands. PM a chat moderator and have them resolve the situation. Chat moderators have bold names in the user list. You may need to visit the Free Play or Social chat rooms if a moderator is not visiting Match-making chat.
  7. DO NOT CONTACT STAFF MEMBERS ABOUT MATCH DISPUTES. PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW UNDER "DISPUTES AND DISHONOR" IF YOU HAVE MATCH CONFLICTS.
Challenges and Playing Matches:
  1. If you accept a challenge from another player, the match must be played unless:
    • One person cancels the match within five (5) minutes of the challenge being accepted.
    • Both players submit a cancelation request as part of the reporting process.
  2. Once a challenge is accepted, a Private Chat window will open allowing you to communicate privately with your opponent. Use this chat to decide on a host and exchange friend codes. If no agreement can be formed on hosting, the Player with the lowest TrueSkill score will host games 1 and 3. The higher ranked player will host game two.
  3. It is the responsibility of both players to report results on a challenge. You have one hour after the challenge is accepted to report a score. If only one player reports on a challenge, that player's report will be used as truth in determining an outcome. A challenge will be dropped completely if neither player reports within one hour.
Brawl Rule Set:
All matches must be played using the following rule set:
  1. General:
    • Three (3) stock.
    • Seven (7) minute time limit.
    • All items off.
    • If time runs out during a match, Sudden Death will never be played. Use the following rules instead:
      • If one player has more stock remaining than the other, the victor will be the player with the most stock.
      • If the stock count is tied, then the player with the lowest damage percent wins the round.
      • If Sudden Death is forced by one player using a "suicide" move (Kirby/Dedede Swallow, Ganondorf Flame Choke, Bowser Bomb, Wario Bite, etc.), then whoever initiated the suicide move wins the game.
      • If both the percent and stock are tied at the end of a match, a one (1) stock, two (2) minute match will be played. This match must be played on the same level as the game prior and with the same characters. Whoever wins this 1-stock playoff wins the game.
  2. The first match of a game must be played on a verified Neutral Stage:
    • Battlefield
    • Final Destination
    • Lylat Cruise
    • Smashville
    • Yoshi's Island
  3. The loser of the first game picks the stage for the second game. Announce your decision in private chat so your opponent knows which stage to pick. If your stage selection does not come up in game, suicide three times and start the match over until you get your chosen stage. Make sure to communicate this with your opponent.
  4. The third game, if forced, will be played on a stage chosen by the loser of the second game.
  5. When choosing a stage, you may pick any Neutral stage, or any of the counter pick stages listed:
    • Delfino Plaza
    • Luigi's Mansion
    • Frigate Orpheon
    • Battleship Halberd
    • Pokémon Stadium 2
    • Castle Siege
    • Jungle Japes (Melee)
    • Rainbow Cruise (Melee)
    • Brinstar (Melee)
    • Pokémon Stadium (Melee)
  6. Any map may be played as long as BOTH players agree to it.
  7. You may NOT pick a stage that you have already won on for your counter-pick.
  8. After the loser of the previous match chooses a stage to play, the winner has the option of switching characters. He/she must announce the new character if they choose to do so. After the winner has switched (or passed), the loser is also allowed to change characters. This is called advanced slob picks.
  9. Infinite grabs, jab locks, laser locks, suicides, wall infinites, etc. are not banned. Do not dispute a match that you lost to the above tactics.
Disputes and Dishonor:
  1. Any challenge that receives conflicting reports from players will automatically file a dispute. Disputes are reviewed by our Referee staff.
  2. You may change your report on a disputed challenge by clicking the "reopen" icon next to the challenge and re-reporting. You can change a mis-report this way and make things much easier on our staff.
  3. Dishonor points are given to users involved in disputes in amounts depending on the dispute.
  4. When reviewing a dispute, Referees will ask players for any evidence in support of their position. If unrefutable evidence can be given either way, the player providing it will receive a win for the match. If a match cannot be decided either way, it will be canceled and both players will receive a Dishonor point.
  5. Receiving too many Dishonor points may result in a ban from the ladder.
Cheating:
  1. Any attempt at boosting, host lagging, using multiple accounts, or major glitching to gain TrueSkill score will result in an instant and permanent ban. This is not disputable.
  2. While most glitches are seen as "Advanced Techniques", any use of a technique to stop a character from moving, or freezes the game is prohibited. The use of these tactics will result in a loss for that game.
Closing:
There's nothing we love more than an intense, high level match between two great players, but please don't let that blind you from the true purpose of the game. We're here to have fun! This ladder is here to make the game even more fun than it already is, so try and remember: it's just a game! Have fun, and good luck to everyone!
