As we covered in our welcome back announcement we had transitioned the site to a snappy new server and restored the database to get AiB back up and running.

Unfortunately, after getting AiB back up in roughly 24 hours we were the victim of DDos attacks against the site once again. The same type of attacks we have been dealing with since August of this year. The same type of attacks the entire smash community across several of the most common smash sites have been dealing with.

At this point, in the past few months, we have experienced more downtime than we ever wanted AiB. And felt we were left with no other alternative but to sign-up for a dedicated DDos protection service. You guys have already experienced enough downtime and we did not want to put you through more after just getting back up. It is unfortunate some individual(s) agenda against the smash community is going to cost us another $2,500 or so a year just keep our site up and running on top of normal server/ladder costs (and after pricing out all the services out there this is one of the lowest cost options out there by far).

Allisbrawl had been in an email chain with the other attacked sites dating back to when the attacks just started to explore possible suspects, ips, and possible action courses to identify the individuals responsible and persecute them for their actions. We will continue to explore all avenues. If anyone has any contacts in law enforcement or anything else that might help please let us know. We do not want to miss out on any options that might lead to the identification of the responsible party and taking legal action against them.

We are still tweaking the settings for the DDos protection service so it may take another day or two to have everything correctly configured. But we just wanted to let you know based on everything we have researched this DDos service should stop these attacks and keep AllisBrawl up and downtime free.

As frustrating as this situation has been for you it has for us as well. In spite of not being happy about the additional costs of the protection to deal with these continued attacks we are at least happy to be able to provide you an experience that will no longer have downtime because of them.

Hello AllisBrawl. Wi-Fi denizen Stridez here bringing you this short but sweet interview with the incredible Peach player SlayerZ. SlayerZ is known for being one of the top players in the ladder (current Spring 2013 Doubles Ladder Champion) and is more recently making quite the showing in the local offline scene, placing 2nd in both singles and doubles at Super Smash Sundays this past weekend.

Stridez: To start off, what is your name, age, and main in Smash for people who don't know?

SlayerZ: My name is Jacob, I'm 18 years old, and I main Princess Peach.

Stridez: How long have you used Peach, and why do you prefer to main her over everyone else?
SlayerZ: I've used Peach basically since the game came out, however I also used a variety of characters like Metaknight, Ike, and Kirby before, lol. But what stood out for Peach was her combo game and her ability float, which I loved.

Stridez: Those are some of her unique qualities as a character that really set her apart from the rest of the cast, and you especially as a player. You are known for your very quick low string combos with Peach, as well as your precise float cancels. Do you feel like her uniqueness makes up for her weaknesses as character?

SlayerZ: Lol, uair strings are soo good. Floating is amazing, without it I really think Peach would be really, really bad. It gives her more mobility with float cancels, and fast punishes out of shield. Another reason why floating is so good because you can poweshield MK's nado just by ledge floating onto the ledge and simply shielding. MK's nado destroys Peach, but this gives her a way to combat it. So yes, it really does make up for the weaknesses she has.

Stridez: That is a very clever option to use versus one of her most difficult matchups. Do you spend a lot of time looking for new options with Peach, or are there other Peach players you look to for advice/new strategies?

SlayerZ: Yes, I do. The training room is very helpful for finding little obscure things to add to your playstyle. Kie in particular does many interesting things that I have added to my playstyle, which by the way has been working really well lol. He wanted me to contact him, which I did. Through Twitter and we talk about Peach stuffs. Silly Kyle and I also talk about  Peach strategies, in hopes of improving her metagame. So my Peach references are the training room, Kie and Silly Kyle (my boo 4 lyfe<3).

(Kie is a strong Japanese Peach player, widely considered the best Peach overall, and Silly Kyle is a Peach main from Arizona who competes with SlayerZ currently for the title of best Peach on the west coast)

Stridez: Both Kie and Silly Kyle are amazingly successful with Peach, and it’s nice to see that you a sharing that same success in recent times. On another aspect of training, lets talk about your history of playing wifi. For as far as I know, you have dominated the singles and doubles ladder with top placings since as far back as 2010. That level of consistency is pretty amazing. What are some of the pros and cons of playing wifi, in your opinion?

SlayerZ: Thank you! Wifi allows you to implement and try new things out to add to your playstyle. That's basically what I use it for now, to try to improve my offline game. It's also very good for match up practice and getting pretty colorful names, lollll. Cons include: lag, rage inducing, irritating/immature wifi players, I know I can think of more, but not at the top of my head. But yeah, play wifi at your own risk, LOL.

Stridez: Thats interesting to hear that you use it as a tool for improving your skills offline. Were you always using wifi as a way to prepare for competing in person? I ask because there was a time when you didn't attend any events here in SoCal, all while placing top in the Allisbrawl ladders.

SlayerZ: I really just used it to get better as a player in general, but now that I have changed my playstyle drastically over the years, it's now mostly for implementation. Yeah I was a wifi monster but now I attend all the SoCal monthlies. It's easier because I just got my license so I don't have to be as dependent on others.

Stridez:  That leads to my next question. Now that you are pretty much a regular attendee of these regional tourneys, what are some of your impressions of the offline scene as whole?

SlayerZ: I like the offline scene, it's fun and there's lots of nice and cool people. The competition is exciting. Overall it's enjoyable and wish I was a part of it sooner.

Stridez: Yes there's so much excitement that goes a long with playing in tournament matches, and I'm really thankful for all of the cool people I've met through tournaments. I'd definitely recommend attending to anyone who hasn't yet. Taking a step back from smash, do you have any other interests? Such as sports, schools of study, etc.

SlayerZ: Besides smash, I'm mostly at college, with my boyfriend, or hanging out with my cousin. Right now I'm attending Mt.Sac and majoring in psychology or bio... maybe a double major, dunno. And I don't play sports, but I exercise often at home.

Stridez: Wow I didn't know you also attended Mt. Sac. I know a few friends (and smashers) who go there as well. How lucky for you that they started hosting large events right across the street from where you go to school lol.

SlayerZ: Yeah I'm like 10 minutes away from the venue, yay. And Mt.Sac does have a small smash scene. They play Brawl, PM, and Melee. Sometimes If I'm not busy after class, I'll go play and hang out with the smashers there for a bit.

Stridez: That's cool! You should get them to come out to the next tourney. It’s always interesting to see a new face. You never know who the next low/mid tier hero might be.

Stridez: That will conclude the interview. Before that do you have any shoutouts you would like to give?

SlayerZ: Lol we'll see. Shoutouts to mah boo Silly Kyle, Legyt aka Queen Beyonce, and Stridez for being a wonderful interviewer.

Stridez: Haha thanks man. See you at the next tournament, and good luck with the rest of your endeavors.

AiB is back!
As I am sure you have noticed AiB has been down and dealing with technical issues these past weeks. I wanted to take a minute to explain to you the what, why, and going forward of it all.
From the very beginning when Neal and I created this site we aimed to provide a great and stable platform for people that were into smash, to play, make friends, improve, and be apart of a community around it. We were fortunate to be able to do that with no extended interruptions in service for over 5 years since our inception. And are proud of that. However, since August of this year we have been facing DDos attacks bringing our network down intermittently. We would work with our server provider to take temporary protection steps to get us back up. But most solutions were a bandage, rather than a full blown end all solution. There are 3rd party companies out there that provide you cloud prevention for DDos attacks but they are all expensive. Think the type of stuff banks would use for their server, solutions costing thousands a month. Meaning they would bankrupt us and AiB would be no more if we were forced to budget that type of protection in month in and month out. The good news is these attacks are pretty resource intensive and difficult to sustain for a prolonged period. We are also better educated and ready to put in place short term solutions should these types of attacks start up again.
So apologies for failing to live up the expectation of providing you a constant and stable platform. It is important to us. And given our resources we are doing our best to provide that for you.
Upgraded!
So not only are we back but we are back with a brand new shinny server. What had happened, and was actually directly responsible for the downtime, was database corruption issues. One of the unexpected offsets of the DDos attacks was a high level of increased strain on the server and database itself which eventually lead to this outright database failure. Fortunately, we did have a backup so we could restore 99% of data. Unfortunately, this back-up was a couple weeks old from the point the site went down. Meaning anything that had happened (pms, wall posts, badges earned, etc) in that two week period is permanently gone. We could have just requested a replacement database hard-drive in our server. But as we worked to restore everything we thought it is a good opportunity to upgrade the server outright. As we prepare for the Smash 4 release next year we wanted to ensure our hardware was equipped to deal with the level of excitement around the newest smash game and provide the platform you all deserve to, constructively, put that excitement to use. So everything has been upgraded and our entire network has been transitioned to the new server as of now. The new server is better, faster, and more powerful *and more expensive :(*.
Possible Lingering Bugs
So as I mentioned above. With this upgrade we moved every single piece of AiB code to this new server, restored an old database, and brought it all back up. Doing so is a lot of code and server transition. We have been on a closed IP since Saturday for our staff to test out AiB and let us know if anything is not working properly. We feel pretty confident with the help of those guys and gals most everything is working as it should. However, if you notice anything that is not please post in the comment section below so we can take a look and verify the code was properly transitioned. Any lingering transitional stuff we hope to get fixed in short order here.
Clean up of any exsisting issues
When it comes to losing about two weeks worth of database stuff for the most part theres nothing we can do about it. However, if its a situation where you earned a badge in those two weeks and can remember the staff member that gave it to you and why. I would reach out them via pm and hopefully they will recall the conversation and re-gift you the badge. In the coming days we will also be revisiting past ladders to make sure they and all winners are squared away and address any upcoming ladders. In short the staff will be working to make sure everything is as it should be.
Relaunch Promotions
As our way of saying we are back and we missed all of you we will be running some promotions. Anyone that logged into their account between now and Thursday December 19th 11:59 EST will get an "upgraded 2013" badge in the spirit of our server upgrade. We are also tossing around some ideas for a couple other promotions internally. Wanted to get the site back up as soon as possible but will have more news about the rest of the promotions in the coming days.
Sorry about the downtime. We missed ya guys and are glad to be back!

This week on AiB has been pretty eventful for me. Organizing TCG trivia, looking for content writers, temporarily breaking the front page, sorting out TCG rules, and doing some preliminary work on staff cleanup. But now it's time for the next QotW!

I would like to announce that Toxic Spectrum has joined the judging committee and Horsy and Niteninja have been removed due to inactivity. I am still open to adding one more judge so let me know if you are interested. The only requirements are being active (meaning voting for each contest) and not being ridiculous in your judgments (Ex: voting for someone who puts an unrelated nonsense response to the question; sort of self explanatory).  It also helps if you have won a previous QotW since you know the types of things we are looking for, but winning a past contest is not required.

Information:
Each time an article is posted, it will contain a question to be answered. Just post your answer in the comments section of the article to participate. Easy right? The best answer and runner ups will be chosen by a panel of judges that includes: Foodies, Toxic Spectrum, Yoshinendo, Zano, and OrangeFox.

Despite the name, I will be hosting this biweekly (every other week) on either Thursday or Friday. The specific day depends on the number of other articles that need to be posted for the week.

The articles will contain the response of the winner and up to 3 runner ups for the previous question. If participation is low, there will be fewer runner ups; the minimum number of entrants for a contest to be judged is 4. Submissions will close one week after the article is posted.

Guidelines:
- As stated above, just post a comment to this article to participate.
- None of the questions will have a direct, correct answer. If one does, the question chosen was bad and I give you permission to type angrily at me.
- With that in mind, make sure your answer is creative! Being clever, witty, and/or funny will heavily influence your chances (in your favor, of course) of having the best answer!  If you want to be really thorough, maybe even consider the preferences of the judges.
- It’s possible to answer some of the questions in one sentence, but writing slightly longer responses will most likely help you win. However, if your one-liner is amazing we won’t discount it just because it is short. Similarly, if you submit a wall of text with nothing of substance don’t expect to win just because your answer is long.
- Your answer must pertain to the question.
- You may only post one answer. If you post more than one, only the first will be looked at.
- Keep your answers appropriate.
- Proper grammar and punctuation helps.

Prizes:
QotW winner
QotW runner up

Note: There is no participation badge due to the nature of the contest (typing one sentence with no thought can take 10 seconds), so make sure to put effort into your answers!

Want to suggest a question for future Question of the Weeks?
Send Foodies a PM with a subject with something along the lines of: “QotW question suggestion”

Your question should be Smash/AiB-related, appropriate, and thought provoking. Questions that have the potential to produce entertaining answers are also highly preferred. Do not send questions that could cause a flame war (Ex: Should the community ban MetaKnight?), questions that can be answered with just yes or no (Ex: Is playing against Ice Climbers annoying?), or questions with correct answers (Ex: How many mid-air jumps does Kirby have?).

Here are some past examples to help your question designing:
- Which SSBB character would be the best at playing SSBB?
- You wake up as your main. What do you do?
- If every character was as powerful as they are in their actual game, who would be the best/worst fighter, and why?

The questions that are featured will give credit to people who asked them. You also get a badge! Note: You may not participate in the contest if the question featured for the contest is the one you suggested.

Prize:
QotW featured questioner

Results:
And now, here are the results from the previous competition! The question was: “Why do Olimar's eyes bulge?”

★ ★ Winner ★ ★
Nicholas1024:
"Many years ago, Olimar was on a routine delivery, when suddenly, disaster struck. An asteroid smashed into his spacecraft, severely damaging it and worse yet, cracking the captain's helmet. Though it was a tiny, seemingly insignificant fracture, the air he needed to breathe was slowly leaking out, into the toxic atmosphere of the unknown planet. In thirty days, his spacesuit would be naught but a tomb for his suffocated corpse. However, slim as his hope was, he forged onwards. By nurturing, raising, and subsequently sacrificing hundreds of the local fauna/flora hybrids, he was able to repair his craft before his time ran out, and leave the planet, back towards home. Despite this though, the ordeal took a grim toll on the captain. The sheer number that died weighed heavily on his consciousness, and although he attempts to maintain his composure, his bugged out eyes convey a haunted look to those that meet his gaze. Even now, if the captain listens carefully, he can still hear the death screams of the creatures that sacrificed their lives to save his."

Judge’s comments:
"Telling the story how it was, but with the most detailed writing for these contests so far."
"Pretty good story and the creativity he had."
"This sounds like a legit explanation, sounds like he has some friends inside of Nintendo."
"I love the darkness in this answer, love this answer the most, very creative!"

= Runner ups =
lobsterfest:
"hyperthyroidism"

Judge’s comments:
"Didn't think a one-word response would ever be adequate until now. Lol'd."
"Scientifically makes sense"
"One word but makes sense and is to the point, props."

Tikatou-Dnanobot:
“He is the bugged-eyed alien from Toy Story with three eyes that say "We are eternally grateful!" He lost an eye when Sid chose him through "The Claw". Sid ripped his lungs out so he wears a helmet. He got so traumatized when Sid tortured him he turned really pale! His suit was changed when aliens discovered and took him to their planet and gave him the S.S. Dolphin. There's your answer.”

Judge’s comments:
"Creative."
"Toy Story was my childhood."
"Toy Story! I like this one a lot because I was honestly thinking of the same thing with the aliens!"

Axew:
"Since Olimar Travels to Different Planets, He rides his rocket to outer space and the high pressure makes his eyes pop out which is why he barely opens his eyes anymore. Olimar uses his Pikmin to guide him and protect him because he can't open his eyes or else his eyes will pop out."

Judge’s comments:
"Another logical explanation. Which explains why he always needs his "eye-seeing" Pikmin."
Very logical explanation, I like it!"

*I (Foodies) was actually a runner-up by votes but I already have the runner up badge so I gave it to the person with the next most voting points. Here were the comments:

"This is probably a good number of reactions from the other users as well. Mainly the part being up though."
"Thank GOD the site's back up! My eyes popped out too "
 "That is eye opening."

Congrats to the winner and runnerups!

Finally, here’s the question for this edition’s Question of the Week!

"What is Captain Falcon's favorite dance move and why?"  - Masakado

What are you waiting for? Post your answers!

With the end of Brawl 'til Fall 2013 ladder season, I thought it would be the perfect time to interview someone who placed well in it.  I picked out Cody, a New Englander formerly known as Quest, who placed second in the ladder with an impressive record of 22-0.

Hamek: First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate you on getting second on the fall 2013 ladder, that's quite an accomplishment, especially since you were undefeated.

Cody: Well… thanks, but it was only a joke ladder lol.

Hamek: Even so, not losing at all in 22 matches is nothing to sneeze at.  According to the brawl widget on your profile you main Zero Suit Samus, but in some of the feedback I noticed that your opponent mentioned you played Sonic.  Who did you use during this ladder season?

Cody: I used mostly three characters. ZSS, MK, and Sonic.

Hamek: Is that because you wanted to see how your Meta Knight and Sonic complimented your ZSS in certain match-ups or because you just wanted to have some fun playing different characters?

Cody: Mostly to have fun. I just used Sonic to see how he would do and as for Meta Knight, it was a joke ladder. But I wanted to practice tech skill and input consistency for using him more offline.

Hamek: Speaking of that, you live in New England, a region which to my knowledge has had a good amount of drama, were you yourself involved in any drama?

Cody: Sure I trash talk a lot of the other players hoping to motivate them to improve. I want them to be able to compete against any other regions we might have to face at a national but when I trash talk it's all in good fun. They know I joke around (or at least I think they do).

Hamek: Trash talking people is a great way to make them focus on getting better to try to beat you, I agree.

Cody: The "drama" we have is just an occasional argument on aib. We don't even do it as much anymore. Everyone is nice in person at the tourneys I attend.

Hamek: Yeah, I saw arguments on allisbrawl and wasn't sure if that extended to offline or not.  It's nice to see that it doesn't. Who do you think is the best player you've beaten?

Cody: Well, I haven't beaten anyone *super pro* yet, but I do have a winning record on Joe ST in tourney, and he's pretty good. Also Sails, the best Diddy Kong in New England, who beat Bloodcross.

Hamek: A similar question but changing the focus a bit, is there anyone who you think is underrated in the smash scene?

Cody: There might be a few.

Hamek: Do you have anyone in mind?

Cody: Maybe Falln the kirby main? I think he's pretty amazing or… on the east coast, maybe Koolaid. Koolaid doesn't go out of region as often as Bloodcross and Mike Ray do, but he is still very consistent. All the "good players" I can think of are already pretty famous. Oh, maybe some Japanese players are underrated.

Hamek: I looked up falln and he has some impressive wins, one against Mikehaze and one against Tyrant too. Is there anyone specific who you practice a lot with or is do you ladder mostly by going to tournaments and playing ladder?

Cody: I live in New Hampshire, in a very rural area. The only other New Hampshire brawlers I know of are Artemis the Pikachu main, aqua421 the Kirby/Pikachu main, and etecoon the MK/Snake main. etecoon's aib account is Nick C. They all live at least an hour from me, so unfortunately most of my practice at home is from wifi. Luckily, there are tourneys that happen every month or so in New England.

Hamek:
Is there anyone specific on wifi you you play with a lot?

Cody:
Probably etecoon (Nick C.) when I see him in free play we usually play for a while. I also practice with Yoss, Ryuga, and Foodies sometimes.

Hamek:
You've got quite the variety of mains accounted there, MK, Snake, Falco, and Marth.

Cody: Yeah this is why I believe wifi is very good practice.

Hamek:
Yeah, it means that you're able to easily find people who main any character, you're not bound by who you live near.

Cody: The only high-level players I can face offline use Snake, MK, and Falco. On aib I can practice against many other match ups as well.

Hamek: That should definitely help you, especially in national tournaments where there are high level players who main just about any character. You joined allisbrawl right at the beginning of 2010, were you playing Brawl before that on another site or did you start playing when you joined allisbrawl?

Cody: I started competitive brawl on another site but only a month before joining aib (December 09). when I joined aib and swf it's where I really started getting into tourneys and watching the pros.

Hamek: Do you think you were at a disadvantage due to coming into the scene a bit late, or did you take advantage of it due to having a clean slate as the metagame was really starting to develop and change?

Cody: No, I don't think coming into the scene late was a problem. there are people who started much later than I did and are doing very well now.

Hamek: Okay, one final question. The end of the ladder coincided with allisbrawl being down for a while due to a Denial of Service attack. Are you disappointed that ladder playoffs were canceled and you could not see how far you could take your winning streak?

Cody: I'm not really disappointed. I had to play CT Zero round 1 and that was of course difficult because of the distance. Similarly, last playoffs I had to play Z, who is also distant from me (so it was pretty laggy). I prefer the ladder because you get to choose your opponents, and I usually pick the ones with whom I have a good connection. If I'm allowed to make a closing comment about the last ladder season .

Hamek: Yeah, I was going to ask what your thoughts were next, so go ahead.

Cody:
Then I'd say it was fun. I played over 100 matches, and it was my first time using ZSS and MK in a serious ladder. I definitely benefited from it. The joke ladder was fun as well, and I did treat most of my matches seriously. I'm appreciative of the aib staff who worked hard to make the ladder run as it did (both the spring season and the joke ladder.)

Hamek: Yeah, it's a bit hard for the staff to make it run smoothly with neal having a limited presence. Once again I'd like to thank you for your time.

Cody: No problem, thanks for interviewing me.

So there you have it, someone who came into the brawl scene a bit later than most but still found a way to hone his skills and become a great player.

Hello and welcome to the 3rd edition of Scavenger Hunt! Unfortunately, due to the AIB being down the day that last article was posted we didn’t get that many answer submissions, in fact; we don’t even have a winner! The site seems stable, for now, so why don’t we get some winners for this edition! The Scavenger Hunt Badge awaits those who can answer my ten questions.

Rules:

1. You are only allowed 1 chance, to prevent people from guessing until they get it right.
2. You are to send me your answers to my AiB Inbox. You are not to post your answers on here. They will be deleted and I will not accept any more answers from you. Any message you send me, whether it having 1 answer or all 10, counts as 1 chance!

4. I will not tell you if you won or not. You will find out when I post the results.
5. First 5 who get all the questions right win.
6. DO NOT message me for hints.
7. If something happens the day this is posted that affects the answers I have, I will use the most current answers available, but if you submitted your answer before any changes are made and it matches the old answer yours will still be correct.
8. You only have until 12:00AM PST to turn in answers. Anything after that will not be accepted.

IF AIB SOMEHOW GOES DOWN BETWEEN THE TIME THIS ARTICLE IS POSTED AND THE DEADLINE I WILL EXTEND THE DEADLINE.

by Foodies Oct 13 2013, 10:14AM

Wow, it’s been a while since one ofthese was up. DDoS and site crashes, again. It would have been up even later since Niteninja has been busy lately, but he requested for me to write the article on his behalf. Which is why I’m writing this instead of him if you haven’t noticed.

Last edition’s results: ccst was the mystery user of WTU #10. He is in the group I Lost Respect for Snake and Metaknight, has the letter “s” in his name, has a friend code in which all of the numbers add up to 47, has a Mario Kart Wii module installed, and joined the Spring of 2009.  Prey, Foodies, wowiz, Zano, and xzx were the first five to guess correctly, congratulations! For those of you that tried - don’t give up! There will be many opportunities to get it right another time (maybe even this contest!).  I made this edition super easy, just so you guys know.

Rules (taken from past contests):

  1. I will show you the message the featured user sent me. If you are the user I am describing, please keep quiet about it and do not reveal yourself. Failure to comply will result in the loss of your WTU Featured User badge.
  2. In addition to a fact, clues will be given to help you search the myriad users of AiB for the right one. Don’t stop until you are absolutely sure you have the right user and he or she matches the clues given, because you only get one shot at this.
  3. To make sure you are taking the time to check your guess, I will give you a few questions to answer about this user. Every answer will be found somewhere on his or her profile (About Me, blogs, videos, etc.) If one answer is incorrect, then your whole guess will be counted wrong, so make sure you are absolutely certain of what you typed. (P.S. If you can't find the answers or have to PM the person you're looking at for an answer, you're doing it wrong.)
  4. When you are ready to give the name and answers, do not post as a comment. You must send a private message, or your submission will be void. Also, don’t give me a link to his or her profile unless you have the name and the answers to the questions to go with it. Putting just a link in your message will count as an incomplete (and therefore wrong) answer.
  5. Everyone has until midnight tonight (EST) to message me. Any answer sent in after that will not be counted.
  6. The first five that send the correct username get the WTU Winner badge!

And here is the paragraph from this edition’s user:

“Well first off, I want to start off by saying that I have an insane obsession towards cats, I currently have two of them living with me although one of the cats isn't mine. I sometimes like to make little cat noises in order to get my cat to come to me, surprisingly, it works quite well. Whenever he is around, he can hear my cat noises and he comes running towards me. Another thing about him is that he loves to play fight. He will bite at your feet playfully heh. Enough about cats, my hobby is to occasionally make signatures on Photoshop CS4 Extended. One more thing before I go. I absolutely LOVE strawberry melon juice.”

In addition to the message above, this user...
- Mains a character in the F tier list according to the Brawl v8 tier list
- Is in the group If you had only one word to describe your playstyle, what would it be?
- has the letter “h” in their name
- Joined the site Winter 2010
- has accounts on other Ai sites

And the questions you need to answer are as follows
1. What other Ai sites does the user use?
2. What is the user’s Friend Code?
3. Who does the user main in Brawl?

Just in case people forget: to participate in this edition message me, Foodies. Not Niteninja. However, if you want to be a featured user send your information to Niteninja as usual as the below copy-paste paragraph instructs.

P.S. If you want to be featured in an article of “Who’s That User?”, just send Niteninja a PM with a short paragraph about yourself, your hobbies, something interesting that has happened to you, etc. Just make sure it can’t be found anywhere on your profile (About Me, videos, blogs, tournaments, etc.) If you are chosen, your message will be featured and you shall receive the WTU Featured User badge at the conclusion of the contest. So what are you waiting for? Send in your entries! ^^ Note: Once you send me in your entry to be featured, please do not spam me with more, as I may use it on a different occasion.

Ghoooost morning everybody! I know it feels like it's been a year since you guys went out and carved pumpkins, went trick-or-treating, and pranked your teachers. But it's that time of the year again! Halloween is approaching I have some SPOOKtactular events prepared for you guys. First, who is ready for this year’s annual Costume Contest!? (I am!) Do you think you can make it to the finals?

Rules: What is a contest without rules? All you guys have to do is buy or make a costume, put it on, take at least 2 pictures of it (the one you want judged and another one with you holding a piece of paper with your username on it) and then submit the picture to one of our judges (PM with a subject along the lines of “Costume Contest”. Keep your costumes appropriate, of course. You may only submit one entry, but may include multiple photos with different angles of your costume if you feel that is necessary.

Rewards: I know most of you guys love badges, so for simply participating you will receive the Participant badge. If your costume is good enough to make into the top 3, you will receive the Finalist badge as well. (Note: there is a minimum requirement of 8 entrants for there to be 3 finalist badges awarded; the actual number awarded will depend on participation). Lastly, if you're the chosen winner out of our group of finalists, you will receive the Costume Contest Winner badge!

Categories: There are 3 categories that each costume will be judged on. Make sure that your costume fits all three criteria to the best of your ability, so you can receive the highest score possible.

Originality/Creativity - We would like to see costumes that we haven’t seen anywhere else. Try to make sure your costume is creative and something not easily acquired – making your own costume instead of buying something from a store helps a lot here.

Quality – Does it look good? Making something is cool, but it won’t be cool if it looks like you spent 5 minutes on it. If you bought your costume, it should at least be in good condition and fit properly. The lighting and background of your picture are also important: we don’t want blurry/dark photos where we can’t even see anything. Your background should be uncluttered or even compliment your costume for bonus points.

General Judge Appeal – Overall, how did the judge like it? You may be able to gain points here by having a funny costume or striking a fitting pose.

Judges:
-OrangeFox
-Foodies
-NiteNinja
-Toxic Spectrum
-Yoshinendo

Entries are due by October 31st at 11:59 pm EST. and winners will be announced on November 7th. The pictures of the winners will be posted when they are announced unless specifically indicated by the contestant otherwise.

After a very unfortunate and long delay, we were finally able to get this wrapped up and decide on our winners.  For everyone that did participate you will get a badge, but only first and second will be receiving a special badge, so with that, here are your first and second place winners!

1st Place: Foodies

This was the clear favorite and uncontested victor of the contest.  Foodies was the only one to take full advantage of her ENTIRE profile for the contest.  While the other participants merely changed their profile pics and about me to fit the theme, Foodies changed her location, title, cards, blog names, widgets, and even made a custom stage as well, all to show off her theme and did an excellent job as well (no she didn't have Anna pay us to say all this).

2nd Place: Toxic Spectrum

Out of all the others, second was a close call between this profile and another (more on that in a bit), but Kimmy's profile was well done as she custom made her pictures for her profile and put some really nice effort into it.  Unfortunately, since she did not go to the lengths that Foodies did she was not able to seize first, but still did a great job.

Honorable Mention: -Dark Ness-

It was a tough call, but Kimmy's profile was favored slightly over Dark Ness, which is unfortunate since we can only have one second place.  Her profile did look very nice and she did a good job, so I just wanted to let it be known.  Maybe we can find a consolation prize of sorts for her? We'll see.

Congratz to our winners, and I hope despite the delay everyone had fun with it.  I'll try to see what other contests we can get done if the site manages to stay stabalized, but if you have any ideas feel free to leave them in a comment, thanks.

-Zano

The DDoS finally ended, and we are able to move onto the next edition of the QotW! Not. The site crashes for 10 days with no real explanation. The judges were destroyed by the downtime and only 2 got in their votes. I don't want to delay the contest any longer though so we're moving on.

These next few paragraphs with the contest information will be repeated in all issues, so you can skip over them it you’ve read them previously.

Information:
Each time an article is posted, it will contain a question to be answered. Just post your answer in the comments section of the article to participate. Easy right? The best answer and runner ups will be chosen by a panel of judges that includes: Foodies, Horsy, NiteNinja, Yoshinendo, Zano, and OrangeFox.

The question was: “Of all the moves in Brawl, which one terrifies you the most and why?”

★ ★ Winner ★ ★
DLA
:
"DDD's down throw. Not necessarily because of how good it is, but also because I'm horrified to imagine where DDD's opponent goes after he sits on them, prior to popping out. And THEN to think that most opponents have to suffer this fate three or four more times before they reach the edge of the stage and get smashed in the face by a hammer.

I've even heard rumors that some larger characters can never escape the torture, their life becoming an endless cycle of disappearing into DDD's body through some unknown orifice, and being forcefully expelled just far enough to be grabbed and sat upon once more. The implications are quite dark for a children's video game."

Judge’s comments:
"Some unknown orifice is making me laugh. DDD's chaingrab destroys many characters as well. "
"The description is pretty hilarious and the answer is really well written."

= Runner ups =
Meek:
"Out of all the moves in Brawl, I would have to say Sonics up-tilt would be the most absolute terrifying move in the game. From a competitive standpoint, it covers absolutely no options, and is completely impractical to use. Looking at the move is rather strange, because you can clearly see him kick in the air 2 (TWO) times, but it hits 3 (THREE) times! How is this even possible? Does he kick you the first time so fast, that your eyes can't even catch it?

I know that if Sonic walked up to me and kicked me like that, I'd be a bit curious as to where 3 kicks came from when I only saw 2."

Judge’s comments:
"I want to know why this happens too."
"2 kicks but 3 hits? "Gotta fast! Gotta go faster!"

Volke Aeno:
“You have tripped, and cannot get up (likely lagging it out on Wifi). You look around and you see a figure that, at your angle, you can hardly see. It approaches, and pulls out what looks like a hammer, and some sort of sign. Likely a list with your name on it. You hear a deafening "BEEP!" and you prepare for the worst. Without any real motion, you get hit. You're still there, and look up at the sign the figure is holding. It says "1," and you count your blessings. You have survived the Judgment of Mr. Game and Watch... for now. Surely, you will not be so lucky next time.”

Judge’s comments:
"I liked the writing but a 1 isn't scary so he loses some points there."
"The build up is pretty good, I guess he's trying to show how bad tripping into a Judgment can be. Guess that guy got lucky with a 1."

Radiant Angel Admiral Pit:
"There's mixed feelings about this one.
Part of my mind says Snake U-tilt not just for being a cheap overpowered move that can hit you WITHOUT his foot actually touching you, but it makes you wonder how a male could bend his leg that well and high in a split second without receiving pain himself. After all, it's rare for a guy to be very flexible compared to females.
Then part of my mind says Yoshi's grab/throws and neutral-B, just knowing that you're being pulled into his mouth by a sticky tongue, then your whole body is eaten alive instantly, then chewed up and spat out by what seems like a cute little dinosaur that has NO teeth! Or maybe worse, being pooped out and trapped inside an egg all of a sudden to where he or others can freely continue to hurt you while you're in it. The fact that he can do this in like a single second and that he can do this to others much bigger than him shows that this is indeed terrifying.

To make it short: A man hurting you badly with his seemingly unnaturally flexible foot even without the foot actually touching you, or being eaten whole by a small toothless dinosaur, then chewed up and spat out, or pooped out and trapped inside an egg to where you could receive additional pain from other attacks unless you break out of the egg... Both scary in their own rights."

Judge’s comments:
"Well he cheated by choosing 2 characters but they were written well enough."

Congrats to the winner and runnerups!

Finally, here’s the question for this edition’s Question of the Week!

"Why do Olimar's eyes bulge?"  - LuNa11712

What are you waiting for? Post your answers!

Hello! Welcome back to another Scavenger Hunt! I would like to say congratulations to SGOlympian and Marth is not a Girl for winning our last scavenger hunt! As for those who missed the opportunity last time, here is the next chance to win the Scavenger Hunt Badge!

Rules:

3. All the answers are found on AiB only! Not on any other Allis website.

Rules are important, but now it is time to answer some questions! This can give you the opportunity to explore around the site a little if you don’t know much about it yet. I wish all of you good luck and happy hunting!

Questions:

1. What does "I love Potato!" reference?
2. What does "The only time should a grown man should ever wear a racoon suit" refer to?
3. When was “The Perfect Week” event created?
4. When was the article “Teetter Totter” written and who wrote it?
5. If you buy a Series 6 Booster Pack, what are the chances of getting a rare?
6. Which character holds the fastest time on Brawl’s Target Test 2 and who currently holds the world record for that character?
7. Who wrote SotW #20?
8. Who were the top three finalists for the AiB fundraiser tournament?
9. What does “LET’S GO WHITE GIRL!” reference?
10. Who is the creator of Scavenger Hunt?
Bonus: How do you earn the Black License Badge?

Once again, I wish you all good luck! Also, keep an eye out for more Scavenger Hunt later on: they will be hosted biweekly. Keep note that once that 5 people get all of the questions right, I will announce the winners in the Scavenger Hunt Group. Anyways, toodles c:

Note: If AiB goes down for whatever reason today, I’ll postpone the deadline to a day later.

The ongoing DDoS attack on AIB couldn't have come at a worse time. Yes, I'm referring to playoffs. A small annoucement was made on the streaming panel in regards to the decision I made, but I think an offficial annoucement will be better. Playoffs are going to be delayed until further notice. If too much time passes before things are up and running smoothly again, they'll just be cancelled. Badges will still be awarded, but I'm not going to hand those out either until things pan out (mainly so that I'm not interrupted in the middle of distribution and/or creation).

I haven't quite decided how much more time I'll allow to pass before cancelling playoffs, but it won't be too long. I'll make another anouncement with the final decision once there's a light at the end of this tunnel.

In regards to matches that started before the DDoS attack, I have all match results sent to me recorded. If I decide to continue on with playoffs, we'll just pick up where everyone left off.

Welp, this was much shorter than my usual spiels, but I just wanted to keep things on target.

Stay strong guys!

Is everyone excited for the next ladder season? Despite the chance that the whole site will be taken completely offline by the DDoS attacker and such, you know. I'm going to proceed as if that won't happen because I already planned these out: we will be having new prizes - Trophy cards! If this still doesn’t motivate you or if the site remains completely unfunctional, oh well. I tried.

Trophy cards will have the player’s name and accomplishment on them, as well as a picture of the character they used. They will not be exclusive cards (meaning only one person has them). Here are two possibilities of what the template will look like:

               Choice #1          or            Choice #2

Vote below for which template you’d rather see! (Note that the character featured will be the one you used in ladder)

If you win one, you will be able to specify what color/texture you want on the card. If you want a texture you need to be able to link a download of the texture file. You may also specify what move/pose you want your character(s) doing, or just leave it to the designers.

And now, here are the final categories that we will be using to award trophy cards.

Data based
~ Highest placing low tier
~ Highest placing mid-tier
~ Highest win streak*
~ Most matches played

- There is no card for just placing first because we have badges for that already.
- Tiers will be based on the most recent tier list, with the exception of lower mid tier (which will be counted as low tier because of current AiB low tier ladder rules).
- The “highest placing” awards will be SINGLES LADDER only.
- The player must use characters in that tier in a majority (and by that I mean nearly all) of their matches. If you are going for mid-tier and you use a low tier randomly once it's fine, but any usage of a character above the corresponding tier will disqualify the player from the category.
- It would be helpful for staff if all ladder players reported what characters their opponent used in their feedback.
- Character usage is a trust system. If this somehow becomes a problem we will scrap the tier trophies (please don’t make us do this).
*Wins against the same player will not be counted for highest win streak. Ex: if you win against user 1, user 2, user 1, and then user 3 your streak would be counted as 3 instead of 4. However, if you lose that streak you may start the counting over.

Subjective (replays required)
~ Best combo/string
~ Best finisher
~ Best comeback

~ Worst Funniest SD
~ Best team combo

- The matches have to come from the season’s ladder!
- Submit your replays to Foodies: Your message should include the category you are submitting for, the players in the match, what ladder it is from, and a link to the video.
- All submissions will be filtered by a private judging panel (to ensure a certain level of quality) but the final outcome will be based on user vote.
- If there isn’t enough participation or if the replays submitted are not impressive, that particular category will not be awarded for the season.
- Worst SD = for entertainment purposes generally.

Subjective (replays not required)
~ Caused the most significant upset
~ Most improved
~ Best sportsmanship
~ Most versatile
~ “The person to beat”

~ "OMG LAG"

- The candidates and winners for these subjective categories will be based on a combination of user vote and filtering by a private judging panel. There will be an article written when the time comes around.
- Versatile can mean many things: the person plays a lot of characters, is comfortable on multiple stages, doesn't always start by ageeing to SV, has bipolar disorder, whatever. This category is probably the one people can be creative with nominations for.
- ”The person to beat” could be seen as a substitution for a 1st place trophy, but it is not necessarily.
- "OMG Lag": Does this person lag a lot? Is this person good in lag/only wins because of lag? Maybe this person is good offline but terrible online? Or do they hate lag with the burning passion of a thousand suns? I'm also going to leave this one up to user interpretation.

General:
- In the event of ties in voting, the card will be shared.
- All categories can be won in all ladders (I'm assuming we will still have low tier and Project M ladders since no one has said otherwise) except the highest placing low tier (regular singles ladder), highest placing mid tier (regular singles ladder), and best team combo (doubles ladder).
- Every player who gets a trophy will automatically get their card. These cards will also be distributed from ladder wins (at a lower rate than duos mind you) and there might also be a forge recipe for them (depending on how I feel).
-This is a completely new project and everything is subject to change depending on circumstances. (That doesn't sound encouraging, but I may need to modify things depending on what happens)

That’s pretty much it. I hope the categories are diverse enough that there's at least one that you are interested in and/or think you have a chance at. Feel free to leave any questions, comments, or concerns below and I wish everyone good luck with the upcoming season.

*Best finisher and comeback categories were removed because they were redundant with Best combo/string. Lag was removed because we had a bit too many categories. Also clarified that Worst SD means Funniest.

Doesn't everyone like site crashes? Neal has stated that the recent downtime was caused by a DDoS attack. Who would even bothering doing such a thing is a question a lot of us are asking.

Moving onto QotW - the judges weren't as impressed with the responses from last week's edition, but that's bound to happen at times. Perhaps this edition's question will inspire more interesting answers. And let's also hope the site doesn't crash again and disrupt participation/judging. The contest will be postponed accordingly if that happens.

These next few paragraphs with the contest information will be repeated in all issues, so you can skip over them it you’ve read them previously.

Results:
And now, here are the results from the previous competition! The question was: “How do you think your main would act if they had an account on AiB?”

★ ★ Winner ★ ★
Volke Aeno:
"If Yoshi was an AiB member, he'd be one of MANY* POSTERS in the INCREDIBLY ACTIVE Food Court forum. I could see no other place he could gravitate to. Yoshi would post many deep topics, like "What's the tastiest Shy Guy color???"** He would get no responses, naturally. Perhaps he would even get so bored that he just replies to himself. This goes on for approximately 3 months before anyone notices that there's posts there. It would appear that the forum has been spammed by a sole user for that time. Yoshi is permabanned for this spamming, and the Food Court is deleted. The end.

*exactly 1.
**You're a liar if you answer this as anything but green."
Judge’s comments:
"Volke does it again* and I for one would be happy to unban Yoshi if he ever got banned**
*like last QoTW
**No, not at all"
"He has enlightened me about the Food Court forum. Such an amazing place that has gone unnoticed."

= Runner ups =
ccst:
"R.O.B. would fix all the site crashes, ban all the trolls, removing all adds and making so all users only get R.O.B. trading cards. But seeing how AiB would die, he would plant a visual bomb and on 13:37, the site would simply crash. Then he would be the ruler of all smash communities, and those who disobey him will get banned! In the near future all activity would perish, and R.O.B. once again wondered why he was so lonely. He then decided to do a self-destruct, making his switch set to "off". "Odd", thought R.O.B., wondering why nothing did happen to him. Then there, suddenly in front of him, was a red letter with a familiar sign on it. He curiously opened the envelope, and saw that he had an invitation, a second chance. He decided to travel back in time, fixing all the trouble he caused, and then become a super mod here. ([OO] "

Judge’s comments:
“ROB is too good with his database powers."
"I'm going to blame ROB for the site crash."

Frozn:
“Fox would be a very ****y user. But he would try his best to stop trolls and be a pretty helpful user to the site. He would be constantly fighting with Wolf. Fox would be a good lurker, stalking everyone's profiles also he would try his best to beat everyone in a tournament to try to grab his well deserved first place. He would take ladder matches serously trying to beat Meta Knight. He would be a good friend and talk to you most of the time and he would be good for brawling advice. He would boast to everyone that he can fly a ship and he can save the lylat system. Fox would may get infracted but only because he would be harassing Wolf. Fox would decorate his profile with lots of pictures of Krystal and he would block anyone who said he's dating Falco. ”

Judge’s comments:
“Pretty fair description of what was shown of his personalities in the games.”

Foodies:
"Marth would attempt to play some wifi but then quit because he was tired of the lag screwing up his dancing blades and ruining his spacing. He then would check out other areas of the site and accept all the random friend requests sent to him, even from people that seemed somewhat questionable. Marth would follow the rules and even volunteer to help the staff. He would discover that there was a certain user that seemed to be obsessed about him, which would be flattering but at the same time a bit awkward. He wouldn't know what to do about that. o_o;"

Judge’s comments:
“A pretty accurate description, just hope Shiida doesn't make an AiB accout too...”

Congrats to the winner and runnerups!

10. How many users had over 2000 points at the end of the 2008 Brawl Fall ladder season?
Bonus: During which ladder season did CutestLilLucarion play 702 matches?

Be on the lookout for the New Scavenger Hunt group that will be made shortly. After 5 people get all of the answers I’ll post the results in that group and reveal the answers for the people who were stumped.

Note: If AiB goes down at any time today I’ll postpone the deadline to a day later.

So this is a couple days passed when I wanted to post the brackets up, but the timing isn't really my fault. I was originally going to post this up on Thursday; too bad the site was down. I don't even know when the site came back up, because come Friday, they randomly shut the internet down in my building without telling us. It's finally back on now, so I put this up as soon as I could. Needless to say, this weekend sucked.

Anyways, the Spring '13 Playoffs will finally be kicking off. Before we get to the brackets though, I need to tell you of a few changes being made this time around (the system will be tweaked until we get it right). Unlike the changes from last season, these won't be nearly as large. That being said, the information is still important so that you and/or your team don't get disqualified.

First thing I want to talk about are badges. Badges will be getting distributed about half way through the playoffs season. As I mentioned before, these badges will have all new color values attributed to them. The colors were released by E.Nigma a while back, and they're finally being put into circulation. The color given by the badge now corresponds with the color of the badge itself. The full chart of colors, as well as how they look on the different skins, can be seen here:

Depending on your placing on the ladder will determine which badge you earned. With the introduction of these new name colors, we're hoping activity for the coming seasons will increase. Also, the purple color given by the Top 64 badge can only be earned on the Brawl Singles ladder.

Speaking of Top 64, a few of you have mentioned that you'd like to see the singles ladder go back to including top 64 in the playoffs, rather than just getting a badge. I've thought it over some, and I don't think that'll be happening this time around. While this ladder was definitely more active than previous ones, I'd like to see the activity go beyond just one season. If the Fall Ladder receives just as much, if not more, activity than the Spring one did, then maybe I'll consider it.

One of the new things we're bringing to the site as part of the new playoffs system are player interviews. Towards the end of playoffs, or possibly shortly after they end, the top 2 players will be interviewed by a member of the Content Team, and the interview placed on the front page. I'm going to omit the player profiles that were mentioned in the new playoffs system introduction, mainly due to time constraints.

On a final note before I present the brackets; I mentioned in my previous article how I would be reviving a system used by a previous Head of Ladder for this season. The reason for this is that I believe it will make the process go by much smoother, especially since I know school/classes are right around the corner. The system we'll be operating for playoffs is as follows:

Playoffs participants will have exactly TWO DAYS to complete their match.

The original system allotted for one day, but I'm tweaking it some to allow more time. As with previous playoffs, if one player is available and the other isn't, the present player will be given the win. If for some reason you can't make the deadline, it is YOUR responsibility to contact me and let me know so that we can work something about.

So now that all that's been said, how about we get to the actual bracket? The Spring '13 Playoffs are now officially on. The round one bracket is as follows:

Singles Bracket

Doubles Bracket
Project M Bracket
Low Tier Bracket

Round One must be completed by Wednesday, August 14 at 11:59 PM PST.

In order to ensure that the match bracket is viewed by all participants, in addition to creating blogs with the link to the new brackets, the brackets will be posted in the stream box on the front page. The blogs will be released when a new round begins, but I'll try to update the stream box brackets daily. You may play your next match ahead of time if you'd like as well. Also, in order to make things easier on Doubles participants, I've included player names in the bracket, rather than team names.

Good luck to everyone participating in this season's playoffs. And don't forget to communicate with me the results of your match. I can't advance you if I don't know you played!

Ready, set, go!

PS: KaZi is willing to stream any playoffs matches you play, so contact him if you'd like your match streamed.

We have achieved a milestone of 10 WTU’s, woohoo! I was happy to see a lot of you participate in the last WTU, and I hope to see you guys keep it up! Let’s begin, shall we?
Last edition’s results: -Ness- was the mystery user of WTU #9. She is in the group I'll Protect You , has the letter “s” in her name, has a Pokémon module installed, has the same main in the original Super Smash Bros. and in Brawl, and joined the site during the Fall of 2012.  Boxerpupx7, Prey, Gentle, Blazer, and ccst were the first five to guess correctly, congratulations! There will be many opportunities to get it right another time (maybe even this contest!).

Let’s begin!

“I've always been told that playing video games was wrong and abnormal, and that you had yourself to blame for being short. Yes, I am very short for my age, and I was ashamed of that throughout my whole life. As confused as I was, this wore me out to the point that I didn't believe in myself anymore. My confidence was literally non-existent. Several times that old nurse at school told me that my life wasn't healthy, that I didn't eat enough and that’s why I’m so short and skinny, and she blamed the games for it. Even if that’s partly true, I've never really had any appetite for food anyway, it’s just how I am. But never did I hear anything about genes, ever! My parents are both short but no one explained that to me, nor that being short isn't a bad thing at all. I got such low self-esteem from this that I couldn't take it anymore. But instead of letting those feelings eat me, I had to fight back and accept myself. I can say today that I’m a very proud, short gamer that never gives up with what I love! The games helped me endure without judging and I have no regrets whatsoever."

In addition to the message above, this user...
- Is in the group I Lost Respect for Snake and Metaknight.
- Has the letter “s” in their name.
-  Has a friend code in which all of the numbers add up to 47.
- Has a Mario Kart Wii module installed.
-Joined the Spring of 2009.

And the questions you need to answer are as follows
  1. Who does the user main in Melee?
  2. Who does the user use for Mario Kart Wii?
3.   When did the user join the site?

Well, go find that user! And good luck! The answer to this week’s contest and next WTU will be posted in two weeks.

P.S. If you want to be featured in an article of “Who’s That User?”, just send me a PM with a short paragraph about yourself, your hobbies, something interesting that has happened to you, etc.

I also want to thank Foodies for helping me edit the WTU articles.

Do not forget to join this group if you want to be informed on any WTU news: http://allisbrawl.com/group.aspx?id=15868
It’s time for the next edition of QotW! (It's early because I got too little sleep yesterday and somehow thought it was a Thursday today!! Whoops. Not too big of a deal right?) We had a lot of creative answers for this round, which were fun for us to read. However, there were a few people that submitted past the deadline. Remember that entries close one week after the article is posted! There’s a chance that judges might still read your entry after the deadline, but I would still recommend you make your submission earlier.

*This week's deadline will be on next Thursday even though this was posted on a Wednesday.

The question was: “If your main had 3 wishes what would they be and why?”

★ ★ Winner ★ ★
Luckylime: “Hey ROB! What would you do with 3 wishes?

1. Oh, he has no mouth, he was never designed to convey thoughts. We need to use his first wish to add on a speaker so he can communicate!

2. There we go! Now what does ROB want most in the world.......?
ROB has no needs or desires and so he cannot wish. We have a catch 22, for him to be able to want something, we have to use his second wish to upgrade him with an emotion-emulation program.

3. Now then... with this last wish... what does he desire the most?
'
**This had to be made into an image because it kept screwing up the post
Judge’s comments:
“ROB talking in code added a nice touch.”
“Definitely loved his and how they all tied together, and the lines of code made me laugh.”
“Nice idea, made it really seem like ROB.”
“I love how made ROB able to talk in a way that would probably seem realistic.”

= Runner ups =
Kawaii Desu Otter: “Toon Link would wish

1# he wouldn't be cut from Smash Bros 4 (for obvious reasons)

2# Tetra would drop her pantsu (for obvious reasons)

3# he wasn't voiced by a wailing infant (for obvious reasons)”

Judge’s comments:
“(for obvious reasons) lol”
“Lol no comment”
“For Obv- Damnit Foodies.”

Volke Aeno: “I've done a deep analysis on Yoshi's characters to derive his wishes.

1) As a character much like Mario (aka generic heroic stuff), there's a good chance that he would wish for peace in the Mushroom Kingdom. This would eliminate the constant problems of Bowser kidnapping Peach or generic otherworldly evil character possessing _______. Through this, I firmly believe he can thoroughly enjoy his other two wishes as much as possible.

2) "Oh god it's been years and I still hear it make the crying stop make it stop MAKE IT STOP PLEASE AHHHHHHHHHHHhh." OK, perhaps I'm projecting.

3) MELONS!!!1!!!1!”

Judge’s comments:
“I don't really get #2 but MELONS!!!1!!!1! got me.”
“Melons.”
“Oh god that 2nd wish....”

-Pretty Flacko-: “Samus' wishes

1. People would stop mistaking her as a guy. Her job seems kind of manly and all being a Bounty Hunter, but I am sure she wants credit as a female doing a man's job.

2. That she would have closure by killing Ridley for good and ridding the galaxy of Space Pirates. Ridley led Space Pirates to her planet destroying everything and everyone on it, including her parents.

3. That she would stop losing all of her weapons and suits in the beginning when she embarks on a new adventure in outer space. It'll save her all the trouble backtracking looking for them all. It is really inconvenient for her. (Although, it makes her games more challenging and fun.)”

Judge’s comments:
“Answers were accurate and the third is funny and true.”
“I can feel for Samus being mistaken for a guy always, and losing her power-ups as they fall down the drain.”
“That 3rd one, I...I just can't.”

Congrats to the winner and runnerups!

Finally, here’s the question for this edition’s Question of the Week!

"How do you think your main would act if they had an account on AiB?"  - Hamek

What are you waiting for? Post your answers!

It's hard to believe another season has come and gone. I feel like it was just a few weeks ago that I was putting together the Winter Playoffs. Speaking of which, there are still some unresolved things from those Winter Playoffs, huh? Badges and other prizes still haven't been given out. Well I'm here today to provide you guys with some info on what's going to happen with that, as well as provide some info on this season's playoffs.

Let's start with the unresolved issues from the Winter Playoffs. Cash prizes which are due to the top two singles placings (Nairo and CT ZeRo), and top two doubles teams (Sanoscy & Patg and Legit & The ViRu5), can only come from JV, so I will do my best to get a hold of him ASAP. Hopefully you'll hear from either him or myself about that soon.

As for badges, I will get those created and handed out hopefully by tonight. If for some reason that doesn't happen, you'll have them tomorrow at the latest. Also, if you guys recall, we changed up how badges are earned in playoffs. After listening to the dissatisfied opinions of many of you, I've decided to revert badge earning back to how it was before. So, badges for the Winter season, this season, and future seasons will all be based on your final ladder placing at the close of the season, and NOT how well you placed during playoffs itself.

On a final note for badges, the Winter Ladder badges are the final ones in which the classic blue/silver name colors can be earned. This season's badges will sport all new name colors. There are now six new name colors available to be earned via your ladder placing. I'll post more information on that in a future article containing information mainly for this season's playoffs. Lastly on this topic, the classic colors may be gone, but you might have another chance at one of them in the future.

With badges and cash prizes covered for the Winter Playoffs, let's go ahead and move onto this season's playoffs. The Spring '13 Ladder is set to end tonight! I will be taking screenshots of the ladder placings at 12:00 AM PST. The scores and placings reflected in those screenshots will be used to determine playoffs eligibility, and any matches occurring after the screenshot is taken will be invalidated, even if they had been opened prior to the deadline. There are still a few hours remaining for this season, so nothing is set in stone yet!

I'm hoping to kick off this season's playoffs early next week. I still have a few things to get ready before that, but it'll work out fine. I'll release another article next week to kick off playoffs. The article will include the Round One Brackets, additional information regarding some of the newer prizes, and information regarding the two trial ladders we implemented this season.

So with that, I'll see you all next week! This is Linkz signing off!

PS: if at any point you have any questions or suggestions regarding ladder or playoffs, please feel free to contact me directly! I'll be a lot more helpful if you talk to me in person, rather than if you try to go through a third person (another staff member for example). Being the Head of Ladder, I'll pretty much be able to answer any question you have. Don't be afraid to approach me guys.
