GhaudePhaede010: I know, it has been a while since I have done an
interview. I know, I kind of got on my high horse, hit my walk-off shot
and disappeared for a while. I know, I was a snob about ever
contributing to the Smash community again. And I know, I said it would
take a special player and a special moment to get me back into the
groove of things. Well, this man is a special player, and this is that
special moment. I am very, VERY honored (and humbled) to be accompanied
by a multi-tournament winner, a National rising phenom, the younger
brother that is bigger than the big brother, AMERICA'S HIGHEST PLACING
PLAYER AT APEX!!!! Nairo! Nairo, thank you so much for doing this
interview. It means a great deal to me and lets be honest, this whole
community! Thank you.
Nairo: No problem. I am glad to do this! GhaudePhaede010:
I know that SKTAR is right around the corner but I want to start this
interview by going back to APEX. You placed third and only the Japanese
could stop you so my first question is: Why were you not seriously
interviewed sooner? Are you shy or were you not asked?
Nairo: Well, I was interviewed by Racheal but that didn't go very really. But other than that, I wasn't asked. GhaudePhaede010:
Rachael? No offense but LOL! I did say, "seriously interviewed" up
there. Anyway, your performance was legendary at that event. I admit I
did not see you doing that well; nobody did. Congratulations to you and
all your efforts there. With that said, I was immensely impressed by
your play. You were on another level that night. Being in the moment,
were you as impressed with your APEX performance as I was or were you at
all disappointed in yourself? What did that feel like, in thee
aftermath?
Nairo: LOL! Don't hate on Racheal! Thank you
that was the best I have played like, ever! Lol. I sure was impressed
with my APEX performance. I joked around with Cable like, the night
before saying I was going to get top 3. At first I thought I'd get like
9th or around there but I'm glad I was wrong about that haha! GhaudePhaede010:
I got Rachael's back. She is a solid interviewer and she is very
pretty. No hate, Rachel... LOL! You only lost to Japanese and you were
thee only American to scar THEE ALMIGHTY Nietono. What do you think was
the biggest difference between the Japanese players and play style
opposed thee American players and play style? I mean strats,
concentration, even their culture and if it bleeds over into their game
play. Were they doing things you had never seen before?
Nairo:
Yes, I did beat Nietono because I am the Olimar slayer!! There isn't
really a big difference between the Japanese and American players other
than I guess they don't like, lose confidence and they stay focused
throughout the set. They caught onto my habits more quickly than most
people I have played before, so that too. GhaudePhaede010: Be honest, did you feel Nietono or Otori was better? Who did you root for in Grand Finals at APEX?
Nairo:
I would say Nietono is better but Otori was the better one at APEX
luckily for him. I don't think I have watched all of Grand Finals of
APEX. I had to leave as soon as I lost Losers Finals because I had
school like, 5 hours later, sadly. I heard the Otori chant while leaving
the building so I knew Otori had won there. GhaudePhaede010:
That is interersting that you had to get your *** to class not too long
after winning such a large amount of money. Last APEX question: Did you
get to bootywarrior mad *****es after that performance?
Nairo: [Heavily Edited Bootywarrior Story Reply] Yes, yes of course LOL. GhaudePhaede010:
WOW! Holy wow! Get em! Touching on your history, you started out doing
mad work on Wifi, a lot of people do not realize how hard you worked to
get where you are. Did you walk into the scene and immediately dominate
or was there a due paying process for you?
Nairo:
Actually, I really didn't do much Wifi until I got like the good boost
and became good. But I started in '08. I won my first tournament with
Zelda (best Zelda forever). After that I like, didn't go to much stuff
until '09 but I used to get like last in all the stuff. I just kept
playing lvl 9 CPUs. I think I started becoming much better when I first
beat ADHD 2 times at some local. So it was a process. GhaudePhaede010:
ADHD is a huge talent and speaking of talent, SKTAR is a huge event
bringing out talent from everywhere, is there someone you want to meet
at this event that you have not met before? Does it freak you out when
people (like me) mark the hell out when we meet you? You are a celebrity
for your play so does it ever strike you as surreal?
Nairo:
Maybe Glutonny. I have met like everyone going at least once at a
tourney and it's his first tourney in America so him, I guess. And I
feel I will be playing him in tournament so I will at least talk to him.
It does not freak me out at all! It's nice to meet new people! GhaudePhaede010: You know, you could have said you wanted to meet me... That would have been nice. :::facepalm:::
Nairo: Oh SORRY LOL. GhaudePhaede010:
Actually, I am not going. Most people are aware of all the big names
that will be as SKTAR. From you to Ally to Gluttony from France, there
are a lot of people that will be showing up to take the pot. With all
that going on, who do you think may be flying under the radar a bit that
could surprise at this event like you did at APEX? I am not saying you
were not an amazing player but nobody predicted you to be America's
highest placing player (or to get third) so I am not saying someone has
to be unknown; rather, someone we may not be paying a lot of attention
to on a National level.
Nairo: Man, it is so hard to
think of someone that could surprise people here because there's so many
like, top players. I would have to say like, Ultimate Razer (if he is
coming still) because he is very good, does really well, but at
nationals he doesn't do as well as I think he should. I think he can do
well at this and maybe cause an upset. We will have to see soon! GhaudePhaede010:
SKTAR is obviously going to have hype matches but there are three
matches I really want to see go down. Instead of having you list the
three you want to see go down or something lame like that, I am going to
put you on the spot and ask you how you predict these three matches
would play out. Kind of fun but different. Your pro predictions are most
welcomed here.
GhaudePhaede010: Match 1: ANTi vs Leon.
Nairo:
ANTi would maybe take it. The only thing that would make him not take
it is that if he still has like his Marth problem. I think he is good
now. It could go either way but I think ANTi will pull through. GhaudePhaede010: You would favor ANTi. I have to admit, I agree though.
Nairo: Yea ANTi too good! GhaudePhaede010: Match 2: Nairo vs. Tyrant
Nairo:
Well, I can't say he is going to win. I don't go into a set saying my
opponent is going to win so: ME! It is most likely going to be difficult
but I think I could take it 2-0 or 2-1. GhaudePhaede010:
Hmmm. I am not sure I would have agreed until today. See, I asked
Tyrant to do an interview for this event, and he jilted me. So, I gotta
go with Nairo as well. 2-0. 2-stocks all around!
Nairo:
LOL damn. I see. Word, Nairo has the best DK so maybe he will pull him
out in a match if all things go bad for Tyrant for fun
GhaudePhaede010:
I can only hope that happens on stream. Seriously, what is up, Tyrant?
Why you keep saying yea then blowing me off? Maybe you need a live
stream blow up or something... /salty interviewer
GhaudePhaede010: Match 3 is obvious: Ally vs Gluttony
Nairo:
Ahh this! I think Ally has it this time. He has his strong Mk now vs
Glutonny. Last time with only Snake, that match up is annoying in my
opinion. Also, I think Ally was affected by the crowd over there but now
the crowd should be cheering for him. I know I will be. GhaudePhaede010: The crowd better be cheering for Ally! He better have home field this time around!
GhaudePhaede010:
SKTAR is a huge event that will be bringing out talent from not only
all over the country, but Europe as well. It is almost like an
international event. Do you feel pressure to perform at that APEX level
at this event? Do you still feel under rated at this point? At one point
you were taking big names to prove yourself, does it seem weird now
that you are a big name and others call you out?
Nairo:
Nah, not really. I feel confident that I can get like, top 5 if I am
playing pretty well. No, I think people know I am like, a big threat
now. Wait, people call me out? Must be like the people who don't do well
'cause I dont know any really haha. But it wouldn't feel weird. I
wouldn't care much. GhaudePhaede010: That is funny.
But yea, people say they are going to get you in bracket. Or I see
people on the boards saying you are the name they want to take down. It
happens when you are not looking, obviously.
Nairo:
Ohh! I think I remember a couple on the thread now. Who knows, maybe I
will get to play one or two of them in bracket or pools. GhaudePhaede010:
Moving along, doubles is where I know you started to make a National
name for yourself. If I recall correctly, you placed second at MLG DC
teaming with ANTi. I take doubles more seriously than singles. I also
enjoy watching doubles vs singles. Which do you prefer and do you still
see yourself as that big doubles threat? Who are you teaming with at
SKTAR? And lastly, . who would you like to team with that you have never
teamed with?
Nairo: I got 1st in doubles at MLG DC
beating Mew2King and Ally in Grand Finals set 2. It depends. I like
2v1's if I'm the 1 (unless they do the stupid grab release infinite) but
doubles is pretty fun most of the time and I do see myself as a big
threat in teams. I don't think I've gotten like, below top 4 or 3 in
teams (other than mk banned tourneys lmao). I am teaming with Ally. I am
confident we will win it all! The person I want to team with that I
have never teamed with is Mew2King. We never have a chance to team... it
is so stupid because everything is like, double Mk banned now so we
really can't do much about that other than like APEX or something. GhaudePhaede010:
My bad, where is my journalistic integrity? FIRST AT MLG DC doing it
monster over both M2K and Ally 1v2 style! My apologies!
Nairo: Yes, Nairo the doubles God! GhaudePhaede010:
Rivalry is a big part of the tournament community; Lord knows I have
plenty of rivalries and I hardly ever play the game anymore (Bizkit). Do
you have anyone in the community you have a rivalry with? Even if it is
friendly, is there someone that you go all out on every time no matter
what? Someone you feel you MUST get that, "W" over?
Nairo:
Ah yes. I would say Vinnie. I play him like, almost every tournament
around here. Also, Anti and ADHD if they go to more stuff. GhaudePhaede010:
Last question (I think) for you: Last tournament I watched you perfom
at, you took out Mew2King in Losers Finals. I am not sure many, if any,
expected you to win that set. Although you eventually lost to Ally in
Grand Finals, do you feel that performance was as good or near your APEX
performance?
Nairo: Yea, there's always some excuse
people say why Mew2King lost to me or almost lost to me but there
shouldn't be any. I think I did good but probably not APEX good.
Nairo: Shout-outs to the best DI that one game in Grand Finals though, LOL. GhaudePhaede010:
Nairo, thank you so much for taking the time out to do this interview.
It takes a lot to get me motivated to interview people anymore but the
fact that you are reaching so high and nobody was doing anything about
it saddens me. I am always watching, like the stalker I am (homo?) and I
wish you the best at SKTAR. If you have any shout-outs and/or e-hate
you want to send out, please do. And if you have a twitter/facebook
where people can add you and get at you, unleash that information on the
world. Also, if you win the tournament, can I get a live stream
shout-out? Okay so I said last question then asked three questions.
Nairo:
No problem; it was fun! Haha thank you. I know he would say something
if I don't say a shout-out to him and he sees this so shout-outs to
Cable for being my sensei even though I'm really the sensei!! I have a
facebook people could just add me. I don't really like, deny friend
requests. And you can get that live stream shout-out if I remember. I
tend to forget stuff like that by the end of the tourney x:
GhaudePhaede010:
Be sure to add Nairo on facebook (Nairoby Quezada). Also, add me on
facebook (Muhammad Ahmed-Hassan) and twitter (@GhaudePhaede010). Lastly,
add my homie Court (girl in photo) on twitter (@wikkidpedia). I am
firmly with Doom about getting a stronger network for our community.
Lets go!
