Hey AiB! How has everyone been doing? As most of have you probably gathered by now, Trish and I are collaborating on the AiB ladder updates for this season. This is my second article for you guys, and I hope it’s an improvement from my first. Thank you everyone for being patient and supportive as I get adjusted more to the Content Team. I would also like to thank Diska for helping me with the doubles ladder rankings, and making sure I had their teams’ mains and rankings in check =)

Now that we got that out of the way, there is one more point I would like to address that I didn’t on my first update. If you have any replays of your best ladder matches and you’d like to share it and have it featured on here for the ladder updates, feel free to send them to me or Trish via PMs. Depending on how much we get, we will post a max of 2 videos to post for the next ladder update.

Side-note: These top rankings have been taken on 5:00 am on Saturday [02/12/11].

Notes

Singles:

  • ADHD is still in the lead with a respectable 152 wins. He is also the only one consistently using Diddy who’s currently ranked.
  • Raffi-X stays high in the rankings being the only R.O.B and Alphicans as Mr. Game and Watch.  Going further down the tier list
  • Kimchi joins in with his Ike, and M to the Ekos continues displaying his Lucas. Good job guys!
  • Mcpeepants and Kain keep stepping it up with Wolf.
  • burntsocks (with an additional Yoshi and Snake), Aegis Angel Admiral Pit (all Pit), and Luckay4Lyphe (and Pikachu)  bring Pit into the light. Aegis Angel Admiral Pit has also taken an impressive leap half-way across the ladder rankings since the last ladder update. Nice work, Pits.
  • Zebra and Waft continue with their Wario, while lordDtimeouT and SlayerZ keep representing their Peach.
  • The following players were not ranked in the last update but join in for this one: Koolaid, Ramona Flowers, ChinaLee, judge, Dnyce, raytay824, Kimchi, Mintyflesh, and Luckay4Lyphe.
Doubles:

  • M to the Ekos and FOW lead the rankings with their amazing Lucas and Ness team.
  • Teams ( We both lost to Wolf, we r gud, Sunshine Snuggle Brigade~) currently have an undefeated streak! How far will they be able to maintain that streak?
  • Double, double, toil and trouble! Flame and Zakalicious join in double Meta Knight while Adam Gibson and Bizkit go double Snake.
  • Muramasa Baby! has been the only team who kept the same position since the last ladder update.
  • Top 5 teams with the most wins: Flame’s Team (31), DLK (22), Muramasa Baby! (19), Team Red (18), and Chinchilla Bros (16).

Remember, the ladder ends on March 31st.. There’s still plenty of time to catch up on your score if you’re behind on decay, and to join the ladder if you haven’t already. Once again, congratulations to everyone who participated in the ladder. Keep working hard guys! ^_^
Hey, everyone! How's it going? I hope everyone has been alright. Well anyway... you probably thought I was gone or something, but that is not the case. I was unable to work on the first ladder update due to my return from hiatus at the time, and I hope that is understandable. I thank Mocha for whipping up an update for me while I was gone! Also, if you probably didn't realize, she is currently co-working with me for this season's ladder updates. This is something I wanted to try out and to see how things go, so please bear with us as we switch off on each ladder update. Oh, I've also kept to my promise and racked up the most accurate results I can get by taking in today's rankings. We shall see what goes on here!

(By the way, I know this wasn't posted in the first ladder update of this season, but I'm still open to doing this. If you guys have replays of your best ladder matches you'd like to share and have it featured on here for the ladder updates, feel free to send me or Mocha any via PMs! Depending on how much we get, she and/or I will most likely pick a maximum of 2 videos for both singles and doubles to post up in the next update. After all, the ladder updates do need a little more spice on 'em, yes?)

Side-note: These top rankings have been taken at 5:45 am PST on [01/29/11].

Notes

Singles:
  • ADHD is currently maintaining his position at the top of the ladder with a 92-point lead. How long will he be able to last?
  • This time around, despite more top tier dominance, we're starting to see some Pits (from burntsocks, Luckay4Lyphe, and Aegis Angel Admiral Pit), Wolfs (from Mcpeepants and Kain), and a Mr. G&W (from Alphicans) added to the character variety from players un-ranked 2 weeks ago. Great job, you guys! And also, we have a Lucas added to the mix, as M to the Ekos is currently placing high with him. Very unique choice, I must say!
  • The biggest drop in the ladder at this time is Stingers, dropping from 8th to 31st with his R.O.B. due to some inactivity. But not to worry though, Raffi-X is just getting started, making sure that at least one R.O.B. main can try to leave a mark on the ladder.
  • Congrats to burntsocks for currently having an undefeated streak with his character variety of Pit, Snake, and Yoshi!
  • These following players have been dropped from the last update's rankings: [07]Amaterasu Okami, [10]CtL, [13]pkmonftw, [15]joe ST, [18]×MÁR×, [21]BoxxahBrown, [23]LNIAD, [26]BengalsRZ, [27]State Alchemist Roy, [28]ven, [29]MythTrainerInfinity, [32]-Remix-.
  • Top 6 Players with the Most Wins → Atomsk (111), Luckay4Lyphe and psp tie with 84 wins, Jules (63), Zero Heart (59), and judge (58).
  • Top 5 Players with the Highest Win % → burntsocks (1.000), So Fatal (.944), Atomsk (.938), chucknasty (.926), and ADHD (.925).

Doubles:
  • So, it seems 'Flame's team' and 'Murakasa baby!' have currently switched positions from the last update while 'BEND OVER CAUSE WE ARE GOING TO **** YOU IN THE *** icon_wink' are maintaining their 2nd place position. 'Flame's team' also remains undefeated with a streak of 20 wins. Nicely done!
  • With a few starting to decay, we have 4 other undefeated teams for this update. Besides 'We both lost to Wolf', 'we r gud', and 'Dat wiimote DI', we now have 'Sunshine Snuggle Brigade~'.
  • Speaking of 'Dat wiimote DI', if you probably didn't catch this, they are currently the only pure mod team on these rankings, representing a double Kirby team! If you try to take 'em on, you have the opportunity to earn a Double Danger badge!
  • These following players have been dropped from the last update's rankings: [09]u mad y, [10]Wasta~Pray, [12]Green Team, [13]Meaty Beasties, and [15]>icon_sad O^O.
  • Top 5 Teams with the Most Wins → 'BEND OVER CAUSE WE ARE GOING TO **** YOU IN THE *** icon_wink' (22), 'Flame's team' (20), 'Muramasa baby!' (18), 'Team Red' (14), and 'Sexy Beasts' (12).

So, the ladder ends on March 31st, which leaves us to having almost exactly 2 months remaining before the playoffs! Not to worry, you guys have plenty of time to get the position you deserve before that happens. Try out the ladder if you haven't and have some fun! It's a great place to experiment with characters, practice, have fun and make new great friends. Remember that there is actually prize money to be won at the end of the ladder season if you make it very far! A lot of people have already started and gotten high up in the ranks with no problem at all. Perhaps one of you can do the same? In the meantime, work hard and keep your flame of competition lighting up! Congrats to the current top 32 players and 16 teams who made it to this first bi-weekly update. We wish you all the best of luck for anyone seeking to be at the top and making it to the playoffs! Until next time, see ya~ :]
MLG Dallas, the final tournament for the 2010 MLG Circuit, officially has its 16 top players. Throughout the MLG Circuit, 8 players have made it into the championship bracket based on their previous performances. To join them, 8 additional players have worked their way through the MLG Dallas open bracket. The final 16 seeds in order are:

Ally
ESAM
Tyrant
Lee Martin
Nick Riddle
Rich Brown
Atomsk
Fatal
Gnes
Logic
Espy
X
DEHF
MikeHAZE
Dojo
MJG

Each player's first round opponent and the general bracket is shown below.

Now, for all you spectators keeping track of what's going on at MLG, here's your chance to give your predictions for how the top 16 will place! You can send in a list of your predictions for the final rankings of these players in order as a pm to Falln, and the the people with the three closest guesses will get a badge showcasing their knowledge of the top players at MLG. In addition, our good buddy Neal has offered to award the person with the most accurate list either a Virtual Console or Steam game on the PC of $15 worth or less if we get 15 or more submissions.
Of course, in the interests of fairness, you must submit your top 16 predictions before the start of the championship bracket, which begins at Sunday, 10:00 am central time. Good luck, and let's see who comes closest for the top 16 finishers!

The Championship bracket at MLG Dallas features some of the most revered names in smash. Here is a quick preview of all the likely second round pro bracket matchups!

(Disclaimer: So far at these MLGs, NOTHING has gone according to plan, and with names such as Gnes, Dojo, and TKD all in attendance, you can pretty much count on upsets occurring. The following matchups are simply based on seeding points, and the assumption that the higher seed will advance to the second round of bracket.

1. Ally vs Fatal
Ever since Brawl’s release, Ally has been universally regarded as the best snake. Ally has been fairly consistent in the MLG circuit, placing 2nd twice, 8th once, and 17th another time. Recently, however, such a title has been put into question due to the recent success of Fatal. Fatal recently 2-0ed M2K at MGC in Vegas, and is looking to ride the momentum of his MGC performance, as well as his MLG DC performance (where he placed 5th out of 174, taking out names such as NinjaLink, Tyrant, and MikeHAZE). While dittos don’t mean everything, a win from Fatal would be quite a statement.

2. ESAM vs Atomsk
The MLG circuit has given ESAM, a relatively unknown pikachu prior to MLG Orlando, a chance to prove that he’s one of the best players in the nation. ESAM has consistently placed very high at every event, taking out names such as Ally, Tyrant, and Lee Martin along the way. ESAM has tons of tricky setups that he utilizes to trap his opponents into bad situations, which has helped him get as far as he has. Atomsk, on the other hand, has a variety of characters he knows how to play at a top level, including MK, ICs, and DDD. Atomsk has come very close to top 8 at every single MLG event, but hasn’t quite broken through. Will this be the time Atomsk finally gets a big win and launches himself into top 8, or will ESAM continue his dominant streak through MLG?

3. Lee Martin vs Nick Riddle
Lee Martin and Nick Riddle are both looking to bounce back strong after very sub par performances at MLG DC. Lee Martin’s MK is very unique. He opts for random opportunities to hit his opponents, and lands attacks in situations which you wouldn’t expect him to attack. Nick Riddle has a very similar style, and has developed an excellent pressure game with ZSS. This MU will simply come down to who’s spacing is better, and if ZSS can do a reasonable job recovering against MK without taking too much damage.

4. Tyrant vs Rich Brown
The last time these two players fought was at MLG Raleigh. Rich Brown was on the verge of winning the set, but Tyrant landed a clutch shuttleloop and took game 3. Rich Brown, fresh off beating M2K at MLG DC, is hoping to get revenge in Dallas. Tyrant will rely on a variety of clever setups to deal major damage to Rich Brown’s Olimar while he’s trying to recover, as well as try to land the gimps. This MU really just depends on mistakes and how good both players are with punishes. In the Olimar-MK MU, both characters can severely punish mistakes, so whoever is more alert that day will likely take the set.

There you have it! Be sure to follow all the MLG twitters and updates, and be on the lookout for videos shortly after the event, as well as any bootleg streams which might be created!

Inui:  Good evening, Trevor.  It's nice of you to make some time for an interview, and hopefully this will help get that offline player coverage you and others wanted.  You're a top player from NJ and have been ranked 2nd there for a while right behind ADHD and you're an MLG pro.  You're very well known around here, so you don't need too much of an introduction.

Atomsk: Hello there Lucas :) . Thank you for taking time to do this.

Inui: So, you recently went all the way to Cincinnati from New Jersey for a Brawl tournament.  That tournament was School is in Session 3, an unusually large and hyped up Midwest tournament.  What made you want to travel that far?

Atomsk: Well, Elliot (Ally) was spending a week at my house since traveling back to Canada to come back to America cost lots of money, and there happened to be a tournament close by that said week. During the tournament, Elliot asked if he could spend the week again and suggested the idea of us (him and I) going to Ohio for Siis3. I was happy to house him again and more than willing to go + my parents love him.

Inui: It does seem like you two have a pretty solid friendship.  What was it like to be with the player widely considered #2 to Mew2King?  Did you get in any really good training and learn a lot?  Would you say it helped you win the tournament?

Atomsk: It was basically like being with an apathetic version of myself. Elliot mostly responds with "I don't care" to everything really so it was quite the challenge at first to do actually be active. Surprisingly, I believe in total we only played brawl like MAYBE 8-10 hours in total over the course of 2 weeks (not including the tournaments). Our time was mostly spent watching a wide collection of horror movies that I have and watching him play Dark Cloud 1. When it came to the "training" as you stated. I basically just focused on why I was losing when we were playing and kept trying to fix my habits. I learned like one or two new things, but nothing major. I feel in playing with him so much, I kinda got a better idea on how to fight/handle snake the character with MK over Dedede since I mostly played MK/Falco/ICs while Elliot and I played.  I ALSO LEARNED HOW TO PLAY SNAKE BETTER.  AS YOU SAW FROM GETTING THE **** IN TEAMS YA *****, AND IN SINGLES.

Inui: Yeah, you did beat my *** with Snake... I suck against that character.  Anyways, to get back to Ally for a moment before we continue, you ended your massive losing streak to him at that tournament.  You lost what, about 20 times in a row in tournament and money match sets to him until that day?  I doubt anyone expected it.  Ally won doubles and dominated his pool, so everyone thought he was playing well.  How did you finally beat him?

Atomsk: I pretty much just used what I had learned from the friendlies (aka handling Snake better) to win. I hadn't really taken notice of Elliot's habits while we played friendlies, but I noticed them more in the singles set, which I used to punish games 1 and 3. Game 2 he straight dominated me in Mk dittos(LIKE EVERYONE DOES) I believe it was last stock mid 30%. I counter picked BF for game 3 in an attempt to either A) have him stay MK so I could go ICs, or B) go Snake again and I could attempt again to go MK and try to win the set.

Inui: And as we know, he went back to Snake and you pulled off the win.  Then, in winners finals, you fought Zucco, which was another big surprise to everyone.  He got through Judge and Hylian to get to you and then put up a decent fight.  You two have played a lot, and you won as usual.  The one person there you were terrified to play was Lain, and he almost got to you.  How do you think things would have went if Zucco didn't stop Lain's rampage in the losers bracket?

Atomsk: In all honesty, I do not feel I am as bad vs ICs anymore as I made it out to be at the tournament. It's just my history vs that character that scared me. I believe if I had lost the first set, I would have been lame and abused the no ledge grab limit rule. Sorry Lain.  :(

Inui: I was actually sort of pumped to watch you play against him and expected him to take out Zucco.  He dropped a lot of chaingrabs, costing him that set.  Oh well.  You and Zucco, a normally pretty good team, ended up getting only 5th in teams despite everyone, including myself, expecting a clean top three finish.  What went wrong in doubles for you that day?

Atomsk: In my opinion, it was all my fault really. Zucco played amazingly well the whole day. I just played like a moron.

Inui: Nicole, a female Peach player, teamed with Coney, a top Dedede from MD/VA.  They beat your team and then ended up getting 3rd.  Did you underestimate her?  What are your thoughts on her exceptional performance in doubles?  She certainly impressed me.

Atomsk: I had visited Missouri not too long ago to visit Saffy. I had known about her skill already so saying I underestimated her would be ignorant. She preformed as well as I believed she would in teams.

Inui: I see.  Best female player in your opinion?

Atomsk: Nicole is by far the best female player, in my opinion.

Inui: Agreed.  From what I saw in teams, you were far too aggressive for some reason, which is usually the only thing that makes you lose doubles sets you otherwise would have won.  Hopefully you work on that and grow as a player.  How was your experience in the Midwest in terms of the event staff and the people?  Today, a girl player that has placed well a few times, was the main host, and Hilt helped out a lot.  How did the Midwest players and hosts treat their guests from Atlantic North and did you have fun with the people?  I sure did, and I thank Smash64 for housing us.

Atomsk: The event went very smoothly except for pools, but pools always takes far too long and that's why I hate them. I didn't really talk to any of the Midwest players that I hadn't already been acquainted with so I cannot say much. Hilt and Today both seemed extremely nice, and TKBro is always awesome to be around. Indeed, Smash64 da bess.

Inui: I feel silly asking this since we took my car and I drove most of the time, but how was the car ride?  Sometimes the journey itself can be fun.

Atomsk: While I stayed in Missouri the first time, Future, Nicole, Cook, MetalMusicMan and I went to a tournament in Iowa...which happaned to be like 6-8 hours away. This didn't bother me at all. On the way back we got lost making it even longer, so long car rides don't bother me at all anymore.   I had my iPod and Baby Zucco, Elliot, Allied the potmonster, and of course...you...

Inui: You love me so much!  =]  Would you take another long trip like that to the Midwest again?

Atomsk: Yes, I would.

Inui: I hope you keep it up and do well in the events to come.  KTAR 3, a big NJ regional, is a few days away.  How do you feel about it considering the hype around you after SiiS3?

Atomsk: I feel like there shouldn't be hype around me. I did well like the first time in forever XD....I will do my best though. If that happens to not be 1st or 2nd place then that means I still have work to do :3.

Inui: All right man, good luck.  Thanks for taking time out of your busy life of AiB wifi to get interviewed about that video game.

Atomsk: My busy life of watching TV.  Wifi is booty.

Inui: Haha, all right.  See you this weekend.

Atomsk: See ya.  Oh, and shoutouts to Allied! Stay free, stick to Farmville, WHICH I'M HIGHER LEVEL THEN YOU IN, YEA WHAT *****.
Greetings to everyone, and welcome to the first update of this year's Spring Ladders! We are currently on the season's second week, and after a month of the April Fools' ladder we are back to the real deal! I'll be looking over the ranks of both singles and doubles but I'd first like to state some changes from last season's "Weekly Ladder Updates". Our previous "Weekly Ladder Update" host, Dannykat, has gone M.I.A. Therefore, I'd like to introduce your new hosts: Enrish and, yours truly, lightlanayru. The two of us will be working together and switching off every week to supply you with the most recent updates on ladder. From the number one ranking player to the underdog low tier character, we will be exploring everything through both ladders in these next three months. Enrish was supposed to cover this week but due to lack of sleep, he has currently lost his mind. And so I’ve been asked to cover for him. Anyways, with that great news out of the way, I'd like to introduce you to this season's first weekly ladder updates!

Side-note: These top rankings have been taken at 5:30pm PST on Thursday [05/13/10].

We are just at the beginning of the season with two and a half months left until the playoffs will take place! Try out the ladder if you haven't and have some fun! It's a great place to experiment with characters, practice, have fun and make new great friends. Remember, there is actually money to be won at the end of the season if you make it that far and win -- $520 ($370 in singles and $150 in doubles) in total to be exact! A lot of people have already started and gotten high up in the ranks with no problem at all! Maybe one of you can do the same? Moving on, it seems that the ladder is running smoothly in this spectacular spring season. There are a lot of new names and also some familiar names! Some may even pop up back again next week as some players are dropped in their rankings, but to the current top 32 players and 16 teams, we congratulate you all for your hard work! Hopefully you can all keep your placings or aim even higher if you're not 1st already! We wish you all the best of luck for anyone seeking to be at the top and make it to the playoffs! :]

As you are probably aware of, our top ladder players have been duking it out these last four weeks. And now both playoffs events have been concluded. On schedule too, for once. Which is surely a result of the professional, seasoned veteran Playoffs host who fought bravely to ensure that the deadline was kept. Oh, and his assistant Enrish probably helped out as well.

There have been a few surprises this round of playoffs. Dabuz winning the singles playoffs is probably not one of them. And seeing HolyNightmare and Ally ascend to take first place in the doubles playoffs probably doesn't surprise too many people either. Congratulations, guys! Lets have a look at the two events, and the prizes awarded for the top placers.

Singles

The final bracket can be seen here: Click me.
Note that this is sadly not an accurate chart of who beat who, since unfortunately some players had to be given losses for not showing up and such. I think its safe to say that the Playoffs are tests both in Brawl skill as well as your ability to show up on time.
It's probably safe to say that the biggest upset in the Singles Playoffs is how Ally "only" got 5th place, losing first vs. Dabuz and then unexpectedly being knocked out of the tournament by Addy, who also knocked out Atomsk in Losers' Finals.

It should also be mentioned that San pulled off a fairly impressive 13th place using Ike.

Prize winners for the AiB Winter Singles Playoffs 2010:

1. Dabuz - $200
2. Addy - $100
3. Atomsk - $50
4. SS13 - $ 20

Unfortunately no matches were recorded from the Singles Playoffs this time.

Doubles

Feast your eyes on the sight of the final bracket for doubles here: Click me.
Ally and HolyNightmare made short work out of everyone who got in their way. SS13 and Raffi-X were sent to the losers side of the bracket in semi-finals by Waft-Oli and Debom, but managed to avenge their loss vs. them in Losers' Finals, thus advancing to Grand Finals to experience the onslaught of HolyNightmare and Ally.

The team that held the first place on the doubles ladder throughout the ladder season, Tearbear and Choconaner, ended up in a disappointing 9th place.
Oh and lets not forget.. The highest placing DK main this round of Playoffs was Dr.Grandpa. His team ended up in 4th place in doubles. Good stuff!

Prize winners for the AiB Winter Doubles Playoffs 2010:

1. HolyNightmare and Ally - $100
2. SS13 and Raffi-X - $50

We do have some replays from the doubles winners finals. Sadly match 1 and 4 could not be recorded, but lets take a look at what we got.
HolyNightmare and Ally Vs Waft-Oli and Debom, winners finals:

Game 2
Game 3
Game 5

Congratulations to all the winners! And thanks to Waft-Oli for recording, Enrish for helping out by hosting doubles, and lightlanayru, Masterkoga and Zolga for their great help in writing content.

Allright, I guess this was it for Playoffs this time. The next real ladder season will start in a few days, and the rat race for the next round of Playoffs will start. Good luck to everyone who plan on fighting their way to the top!

The Winter Ladder 2010 Singles Playoffs have so far been running smoothly, rather like the top layer of peanut butter before you have maimed it with your spreading knife. However, due to the handful of glitches and disqualifications due to unfortunate scheduling and alertness issues on players' parts, instead imagine the undisturbed peanut butter is chunky instead of the smooth variety. Please take note for future playoff escapades, matches played on time are very much appreciated. We're very sorry about the necessary disqualifications, and we understand that real life situations have the higher priority, but there is a schedule to stick to and lagging too far behind will unfortunately get you DQ'd. We hope you understand.

The Playoffs, as you may or may not know, were initiated April 8th and have gone through 4 rounds of elimination thus far. The paramount purpose of this article, however, is to alert players that the 5th round, scheduled Thursday, April 15, will be delayed due to many players leaving for MLG. Unknowingly showing up to play your matches tomorrow will be a detrimental use of your time, cause rampant confusion and chaos in the Brawl world as we know it, and you will indubitably suffer the consequences. Along those lines, all matches will be delayed until Tuesday at the furthest. However, playing your matches before then would be much appreciated.

As far as the matches themselves, a fascinating flurry of incredibly interesting action has taken place.
Concerning the business of the top 8 finishers in the ladder, wins and losses as following have taken place:

  • #1 (Ally) won 3 matches and was defeated by Dabuz. He awaits matches in the loser's bracket, where he must win 2 undetermined matches and defeat Atomsk to advance to Grand Finals.
  • #2 (Atomsk) Has succeeded in defeating 4 opponents, but was also crushed under Dabuz's iron fist. He undoubtedly anticipates his Losers' finals matchup.
  • #3 (Holynightmare) was defeated by Koolaid, swiftly followed up by Addy in loser's bracket. He is the only top 8 that has been eliminated thus far.
  • #4 (Dabuz) Has not lost a single match; defeated Rakan, Rayquaza07, Raffi-X, Ally, and Atomsk. His impressive feat has earned him a spot in Winners' finals.
  • #5 (Raffi-X) Lost to Dabuz after a few matches, and has defeated Negga in losers' bracket. To advance to grand finals, he must win against 3 undetermined players and Atomsk.
  • #6 (SS13) His 70-some winning streak on the ladder was no fluke; after losing to Atomsk, he lies in the same category as Ally in losers' bracket.
  • #7 (MJG) Also having lost to Atomsk, he must defeat 4 players and Atomsk to get into grand finals. It looks like a lot of players are going to have to beat Atomsk. BUT THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE. Or zero.
  • #8 (Addy) Despite significant wins against Holynightmare (And cheese!) he is farthest behind in the bracket, having to win 5 undetermined matches and defeat Atomsk to get to Grand Finals. Good luck buddy, we're all rooting for you!

Doubles Playoffs are also going rather swimmingly. However, let it be noted that ~Enrish's~ schedule is slightly different than the one for Singles Playoffs, so make sure to follow what he has said in his PMs. The top teams in doubles are a bit harder to keep track of; However, some significant teams still in the running are:

  • Holynightmare's Team, which is in Winners' Finals
  • Waft-Oli's Team, which is in Losers' Finals
  • SS13's and Dr. Grandpa's Respective Teams, both in Losers' Quarterfinals
  • And Finally, Tearbear's Team (1st in ladder,) and Flame's team (4th in Ladder,) are too far off to be pinpointed in the heavy thicket of bracket, but they are both still in the running.

THEREFORE, The singles and doubles brackets are progressing smoothly and will likely do so in the future for economical, social, and political reasons. Good luck to you all, and to all a good night!
Hello everyone and welcome to the sixth Winter ladder update! First of all, this really isn't a "weekly" ladder update if there really wasn't one last week, so I apologize for such an absence, but I was away from home. Anyways, I would like to thank anyone who has suggested some ideas from the last update and will consider a few for my future updates. These updates are going to receive a big change in the future, but first I’m just going to need a little more help on your guys’ end. As for the update this week, there will be less info under the notes section as an early change I am thinking about. I want to give you guys more detail and fewer boring calculations. But anyways, lets get back to focusing on what this update is meant for -- showing you all how the Singles and Doubles ladder has progressed since the last week!

  • Singles Notes
    • Atomsk takes his 1st place spot back from dabuz, as he has not lost a match since the 6th of this month. In dabuz's position, it doesn't really help that he suffered 2 losses in a row! One to Ozz and another to YoshQ!
    • HolyNightmare is known to usually be in the top placings in every AllisBrawl ladder season. He does it again and reaches the 2nd place spot, using his main, R.O.B.
    • Now something we all haven't seen in a LONG time...a Donkey Kong player in the top 32 since ook last season! He goes by the name of Dr. Grandpa and is performing quite averagely as I can see, but just playing really good people.
    • These rankings were taken at 7:30 AM ET on Friday, February 19, 2010.
    Doubles Notes
    • What's this?! There is a new team that has taken the 1st place spot and that would be "Da Dragonz!" This team consists of Key and Inspectah, as mikeray4 and Bizkit have fallen to 4th place, being kicked off their throne for once!

    • There are also a lot more activity and new teams on the rankings and they seem to not be playing around! I'm seeing a lot more good players from singles teaming and entering doubles, getting ahead very quickly! Tearbear and ChocoNaner, known as "flapjack and knuckles" used to team in the last season and did exceptionally well. Now they are teaming again and have made it to the top 16 already with 16 wins and 0 losses.
    • Something fun that I can spot is another team called "Da Dragon Slayerz," which consists of Waft-OLi and Chad81 (formally known as Debom, who one of the last season's champs). I am unsure if their objective is to actually defeat the top team, or just surpass them. Maybe we will see soon!
    Future Changes?
Now that the placings are shown and taken care of, I want to bring you guys back to the changes I was mentioning at the beginning of the update. As I said, these updates are going receive some major changes and you as a community will be a big part of it! I know I asked for suggestions last week, but still require a little bit of feedback from whoever is willing to help me out! Here are a few things I took into consideration and are thinking about:

-These “weekly” updates may become bi-weekly or even monthlies. This would make each update more to look forward to as the changes from the last update to the new would have much more changes. What do you guys think? Should the frequency of the updates change? Or should they remain weekly?

-Someone suggested I should maybe add in player interviews with the top 32/16 and have one each article. Only question I have for you guys on this is what questions would you guys expect to be asked? We have already provided player interviews in the past. I have heard some were boring and more interesting questions should be asked. I want to make these as entertaining to you all as possible. Help me out here.

-I was also interested in changing the notes section of the rankings. Reducing the amount of statistics, increasing more detail. Maybe going into more about certain players? What details would be nice to see?

-Adding in some more fun features to the articles. Maybe adding in featured replays from your ladder matches? Finding some funny feedback that some angry people leave on your profiles? Suggestions?

-Any other details I should be more into? Any suggestions help that would provide a better form of new entertainment for you all to read. Just be serious please.

So this is all I have on my mind right now. Your answers will influence my thoughts on the changes for the updates. I would be VERY appreciative if you all provide some feedback on here and maybe add in thoughts of your own. I just don’t want these articles to just be another boring thing to look at on the front page. I want this to be entertaining for you guys! The wi-fi scene of Brawl may not be as hyped as offline, but it is still something that can be very much fun! Thank you all for any help and feedback I receive.
There is a over a month left in this ladder season, and the competition is just as fierce as ever! Remember the AllisBrawl playoffs await the top 60 of singles and 30 of doubles, each event giving out over $350 in cash prizes to the top 4 placings! Everyday the rankings change and new names reach the top, as older ones drop. Who will still remain at the end of the season to participate in the playoffs? No one knows! Until then, we would like to congratulate the top 32 players and 16 teams in reaching your respective placings thus far! Until next time everyone!
Welcome to the fifth Winter Ladder Update! I've been thinking lately of how the updates are written and I really would like to tweak them a lot, but that actually would depend on you, the community, in what you all want to see! But anyways, I will always be keeping you all updated every week on the current ladder rankings! Check out the end of the article for more details! Like always there is a lot that has changed over the past week in both ladders! Everyone in the ladder are playing in hope to enter the playoffs at a chance of winning money! So let's see what the past week has brought us

    • Dabuz finally takes 1st place away from Atomsk! He has been known to do very well in his ladder performance with Olimar. Although he's been seen occasionally using other characters such as Marth, Samus, and Sonic at random. Good job!
    • Atomsk suffered 7 losses in a row last week, costing him a deduction of 112 points just because he was apparently using Falco in his ladder matches for once! He is currently using King Dedede again, which is his said main, and now winning more matches again.
    • The following players have dropped out of last week's rankings: [17]CutestLilLucario, [19]YoshQ, [21]Pikabunz, [25]Cheese, [26]John123456, [28]MegaPlox, [30]Big_M, and [32]Baki Hanma.
    • The amount of Diddy Kong players on the top 32 have increased! There are now 5 players what either main or 2nd him, with recent Pound 4 winner, ADHD, being the highest placed player of the bunch! They even outnumber the number of Meta Knights now! Of course, Snake still leads in character count though, with 7 players still using him.
    • Top 5 players with the highest win % are NAKAT (.978), Zen (.963), Negga (.950), xxpatgxx (.946), and Halz E Fresh (.926). NAKAT seems to still have his win streak going which is currently at 26. Will anyone break it?
    • Top 5 players with the most wins are: Raffi-X (150), Atomsk (149), Player-1 (102), addy (89), and Takeover1806 (76). Remember folks, the amount of wins on the ladder DO NOT mean you'll place high! It's all about who you play.
    • There are now 2164 registered players on the ladder. That's about 130 more players since last week!
    • These rankings were taken at 6:00 AM ET on Friday, February 5, 2010.
    Doubles Notes
    • Making a recent change to their team name, "**** YOU MORONS THAT USE KIRBY. HE GETS BETTER ON WIFI," which consists of mikeray4 and Bizkit continue to sit at 1st place on the double ladder. They are a double snake team, who also do quite well individually in singles!

    • The following teams were dropped from last week's update: [8]We want to be the very best! and [15]Green Team
    • "Orihime~Ichigo" make it into the top 16 with only 4 wins and 0 losses. The team consists of Orihime Inoue and Negga. Judging from the very minimal feedback, they may be a Diddy Kong + Olimar team, but many people change characters just for doubles specifically so you can't judge anything that easily until you play them.
    • Up to now, there are 395 registered teams on the ladder. Doesn't anyone else want to play in some doubles matches?
    Suggestions?

Something you don't see often eh? Well to explain it all in depth, I was thinking of changing these updates a bit to keep you all interested in reading instead of just seeing these as "another update" to just look at. I would like to know what you guys think I should change. What should I stop doing? What should I start doing? Any input would help a lot! If I find your suggestion to be very useful, I may reward you with a suggestion badge for all your help. As many hours as this takes for me to write, I still want these updates to be as much entertaining as possible for you all to read! Help me out here. But anyways.....
There are 2 months left until the end of the season, when playoffs will take place! So try out the ladder if you haven't and have some fun! Remember, there is actually money to be won at the end of the season if you make it that far and win -- $375 in total to be exact! A lot of people already have started and gotten high up in the ranks with no problem at all! Maybe one of you can do the same? Anyways, the ladder is running smoothly in this wonderful winter season. There are a lot of new names and also old names! Some may even pop up back again next week as some players are dropped in their rankings, but to the current top 32 and 16, we congratulate you all for your hard work for now! Hopefully you all can keep your placings or even aim higher if you're not 1st already! We wish you all good luck for anyone seeking to be at the top and make it to playoffs!
Welcome to the fourth Winter Ladder Update! This whole week has been hectic really with me being gone for about a week and trying to catch up to a lot of things, but I managed to be able to provide you all with another update this week. Like always, there are many changes in placement between the players. It is seeming to become a little more averaged out to foresee who will be in the playoffs or not. New names are popping up as older ones are dropped and also, doubles seems to be picking up a bit in activity! Hopefully that continues, but anyways, let's see what the past week has brought us:

Welcome to the second Winter Ladder Update! As always, the weeks after the the first are filled with lots of changes. Many previously ranked players are dropped as new people come in and take their places, which sometimes creates a good amount of different characters, instead of only high tier characters. Of course, that still doesn't change the fact that there will be a lot up there, but seeing change is nice sometimes eh? We would also like to apologize for the lateness on the last update and hope this one isn't posted too late for you all this time! Anyways, this one is the most recent, showing the top 16/32 placings on each ladder, where all the players battle it out for a chance to play in the playoffs at the end of the season! At this point, no one knows yet, but let's take a look at the current rankings this past week has given us!

    • iCario, leffen's team, and OhMyLLOD, are currently the only teams which are undefeated.

    Singles Notes
    • Atomsk takes 1st place quickly and has been there since day 1! His score difference from 2nd place is a huge gap, making many wonder if anyone can surpass him, and maybe possibly break his current 53 win streak!
    • It seems that this week actually has a more diverse cast of main characters, what with players such as ViceGrip bringing out his Ness again!
    • There are an equal number of Meta Knight and Snake players (5) on the top 32.
    • Top 5 players with the highest win % are Broken (1.000), Atomsk (9.80), xxpatgxx (9.74), narutoakatyrell (9.63), and ViceGrip (9.47)
    • Top 5 players with the most wins are: Amaterasu Okami (100...really?!), Atomsk (99), -Mav- (54), CutestLilLucario (44), and Raffi-X (43).
    • There are currently 1211 registered members on the singles ladder so far! The number will continue to increase like always.
    • These rankings were taken at 7:00 AM ET on Friday, January 8, 2010.
    Doubles Notes
    • So far, there are only 185 teams registered on the doubles ladder. C'mon guys! You can join in!
    • Currently "We want to be the very best," CutestLilLucario and Pikabunz, are in 1st place right now
    • Looking at the amount of matches throughout the top 16, it doesn't seem there has been much to play at the moment, so many teams still have their streaks. Maybe that will change soon?
The season just started, so there are basically 3 months left until the end of the season, when playoffs will take place!
