The Socal regional series is hosting the grand finale to their circuit on June 23rd 2012!  This is going to be an awesome event as always but there are a few things that are bringing some extra hype for you.

With the help of the smash community we've raised funds to help both Mr. R and Vinnie make it out to the tournament.  That's right - both the European swagmonster and East Coast grabguy will be at this event.  Neither one of these players have set foot on the West Coast before and with the high skill level at this tournament I'm positive pride will be broken.

Just to give you an idea of the difficulty here is a list of players confirmed to make it out:

We're having a special promotion for new players as well.  If you're new to the offline tournament scene you can save money.  If you print out the flyer posted in this article you will receive $5 off of your 1v1 entry fee.  This won't be a tournament you'll want to miss so hopefully that will serve as an extra incentive for you.

The tournament will be hosted at a Anime/card shop in Temple City, California called Desu-Nation.  They have an awesome collection of anime merch so even if you don't enter feel free to come by and check out the event/store.  The address is as followed:

Signups for both 1v1 and 2v2 begin at 11:00AM and end at 12:00 PM.  This is running on a strict schedule so do not be late, otherwise you may not be able to enter.

1) New Player Discounts - Players new to the offline tournament scene will receive $5 off of their Singles Entry Fee!  All you have to do is print out the flyer below and bring it to the tournament. 

2) Raffles - We will be giving away over $200 in raffle prizes!  All of this stuff is free to win - we will not be selling raffle tickets!    

You will receive a raffle ticket for entering the event. 
You will receive a raffle ticket for bringing a full setup. 
You will receive a raffle ticket for entering the cosplay contest.   

Prizes for the raffles include: SD Cards, Tri Wing screw drivers, Shirts, Anime Merch, a new White Gamecube Controller, and  much more!   

3) Cosplay Contest - You heard it right!  A full on Cosplay Contest will be taking place during the event.  The winner of the  cosplay contest will receive a copy of Skyward Sword 

4) Pools and Amateur Bracket- Pools ensure you get your moneys worth by playing a minimum of five different people, which is great because nobody likes to go 0-2 in bracket.  An Amateur Bracket will be offered to those who don't make it out of pools but still want vengeance!  The top 3 players in Amateur Bracket will receive pot money :). 

5) The Players - The best in the West will be attending and hype matches will ensue.  You won't get the same feel from watching these hype matches on computer screen.  We are expecting lots of tough competition including:

Hello AiB! I hope everyone has been doing alright, and I hope the ladder has been challenging and enjoyable. With the upcoming Spring Break and with us drawing closer and closer to the end of this season’s ladder, there is still time to join if you haven’t already, and maintaining your score so that it won’t stale too much from inactivity.  Or if you have a goal to get top ranked in singles/doubles/both, now is a good time to work on that.

Something I also want to bring up is the matter of the character mains listed for the people mentioned in these updates. I want all of you to understand that how this works is, your main gets listed by your ladder feedback and the character mains you have listed on your profile. The more specific you are with who you main, the easier it is for your mains to get listed here correctly. If your mains are not getting listed here correctly, then go to your profile and show what characters you have been using by installing the 'Super Smash Brothers Brawl'. Or send me and Trish a PM with the characters you wanted listed for the update, that way we can be as accurate as possible. Thank you.

Notes

Singles:

- Salem remains in the lead with his Zero Suit Samus. In fact, ZSS seems to be getting decent representation for this ladder. MeroKnight, Zero Heart, and xxpatgxx have also been a great job showing off our underrated, agile bounty hunter.
- FOW (10 – 0) and Waymas (19 – 0) have a winning streak with no losses. Will they be able to maintain that streak?
- We have eight people join us for this ladder update, and they weren’t on the last ladder update: eeVeeT, L_Cancel, Waymas, xxpatgxx, Vermanubis, Super Saiyajin, MintyFlesh, and So Fatal.
- Vermanubis makes it to the top rankings with Ganondorf. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Let the King of Evil relish in his moment of glory for a change. Good job, Verm!
- Zebra and Waft continue representing their Wario, respectively. Waymus joins in as well.
- Top Five Players with the Most Wins → ADHD (192), Zero Heart (147), Jules (146), Zebra (128), and MeroKnight (102).


Doubles:

- Flame’s Team leads the doubles rankings with double Meta Knight.
- Two teams have been added to this ladder update, and they weren’t in the last: Bettar den u and TEAM TIMOTEI
- Team ‘Just fartin in the dark’ went from being 15th place in the last update, to being 4th on this one. Nice job catching up, Chimpakt and Waft.
- The Ragnell Legends maintain their position with their double Ike team.
- Top Six Teams with the Most Wins → Flame’s Team (44), DLK (29), Fiendnation (24), Team Red (21), and Muramasa Baby! (20).

• YoshQ seems to be doing very well this time around, as he 'super-jumps' from 25th to 12th with his Luigi (and some Meta Knight).

• Teams 'We both lost to Wolf' and 'we r gud' are currently suffering some decay, despite having undefeated streaks. Meanwhile, newcoming teams, 'Desu Forever!~ o3o' and 'Just fartin in the dark' have entered the rankings with undefeated streaks. Nicely done!
• We first have double Snakes, then double Meta Knights, and now, we have a team of double Ikes being represented by a newcoming team, 'The Ragnell Legends'. Whew, this should be interesting.

Alright, with the season ending on March 31st, we've got at least about a month before the playoffs come around.We shall see who can make it to the top 64 in singles and top 32 in doubles by then! We still have about a month and a half till the playoffs come around. While there's some time remaining, you can still take a shot at any of the ladders and have some fun while representing your mains! Just remember that there is a total of $520 in prize money, as it gets split to first place prizes for each ladder: $320 for singles and $150 for doubles. Of course, some of the players who got (or will get) dropped will most likely try their best to get back to the top rankings. As each player and team continues to fight for the prize and the top of the ladders, the competitiveness and intensity will also increase! And so, to the current top 32 players and top 16 teams who made it to this update, we congratulate you for your hard work! Continue to aim higher as you try to maintain your current positions. We wish every player and team the best of luck once again as you seek for the top and make it to the playoffs! :]
