Another Sunday has arrived, so you know what this means. I welcome you to the 4th ladder update of the spring season! Now, you are wondering, "Why are you writing this for 2 bi-weeklys in a row?". Indeed, this is supposedly Invinicboy's turn to write this, but because he is on a little vacation for this weekend, he has requested that I will write it in his place. No worries, you'll see him around in the next one. Let's see where were at!

• After 4 weeks, ANTi and FOW the Creator have still secured the top 2 positions, despite their inactivity.
• Meanwhile, lloD is slowly catching up, as he is 39 points behind FOW the Creator. At the same time, lloD and Nairo The Booty Warrior have switched 3rd and 4th place positions.
• Currently, while FOW the Creator may be one of the undefeated, Atomsk joins him with 23 wins to no losses.
• Up to this point, a few mid tier characters are getting some decent representation as these players continue to rise slowly on the rankings: lloD and SlayerZ as Peach, HolyNightmare and Raffi-X as R.O.B., Flyro as Toon Link, Keeby as Kirby, Waldo as Ike, and Luckay4Lyphe as Pit.
• Top 5 Players with the Most Wins → FILIP (169), Z (125), Luckay4Lyphe (103), Amaterasu Okami (87), and SuperMarioMC (82).
• Top 8 Players with the Highest Win % → FOW the Creator and Atomsk tie with a win % of 1.000, SlayerZ (.917), ANTi (.913), Waldo (.906), and Nairo The Booty Warrior, judge, and Flame tie with a win % of .889.

Doubles:

• 'Midwest dabesssss' has managed to secure the 1st place spot, as they lead by 257 points. At the same time, the double R.O.B. team of 'You better ban Frigate mother ****ers!!' have jumped from 8th to being on the 2nd highest step of the ladder!
• With the doubles ladder contuinuing to have a little bit of activity, we have 3 teams who have joined the top rankings: '({[Forever Guiding]}) - §Infinite Tornado§', 'GreenTeam R.I.P Henry-Sake', and 'Sexy Beasts'.
• Top 5 Teams with the Most Wins → 'Midwest dabesssss' (37), 'Team Red' (26), 'U JELLY?' (24), 'Megapaw' (21), and 'Nanas, Nips, & Nuts' (16).

There is about a month remaning for those willing to reach the top 64 in singles and top 32 in doubles at the end of the season. If you haven't tried out the ladder yet, it won't hurt to do so. Not only will you be able to make a few friends and rivals, but you will also gain a lot of practice and learn how to get better with your mains. • Newcomer, Phoenix vX, enters today's rankings with the only user representing Sonic. Great job!
• MeroKnight has managed to get back on the top rankings, using a whole plethora of characters besides his main! Keep it up!
• YoshQ seems to be doing very well this time around, as he 'super-jumps' from 25th to 12th with his Luigi (and some Meta Knight).

• The top 4 of these rankings haven't changed much other than 'Flame's team' and 'DLK' switching positions.
• Teams 'We both lost to Wolf' and 'we r gud' are currently suffering some decay, despite having undefeated streaks. Meanwhile, newcoming teams, 'Desu Forever!~ o3o' and 'Just fartin in the dark' have entered the rankings with undefeated streaks. Nicely done!
• We first have double Snakes, then double Meta Knights, and now, we have a team of double Ikes being represented by a newcoming team, 'The Ragnell Legends'. Whew, this should be interesting.

Hey AiB! How has everyone been doing? As most of have you probably gathered by now, Trish and I are collaborating on the AiB ladder updates for this season. This is my second article for you guys, and I hope it’s an improvement from my first. Thank you everyone for being patient and supportive as I get adjusted more to the Content Team. I would also like to thank Diska for helping me with the doubles ladder rankings, and making sure I had their teams’ mains and rankings in check =)

Singles:

• ADHD is still in the lead with a respectable 152 wins. He is also the only one consistently using Diddy who’s currently ranked.
• Raffi-X stays high in the rankings being the only R.O.B and Alphicans as Mr. Game and Watch.  Going further down the tier list
• Kimchi joins in with his Ike, and M to the Ekos continues displaying his Lucas. Good job guys!
• Mcpeepants and Kain keep stepping it up with Wolf.
• burntsocks (with an additional Yoshi and Snake), Aegis Angel Admiral Pit (all Pit), and Luckay4Lyphe (and Pikachu)  bring Pit into the light. Aegis Angel Admiral Pit has also taken an impressive leap half-way across the ladder rankings since the last ladder update. Nice work, Pits.
• Zebra and Waft continue with their Wario, while lordDtimeouT and SlayerZ keep representing their Peach.
• The following players were not ranked in the last update but join in for this one: Koolaid, Ramona Flowers, ChinaLee, judge, Dnyce, raytay824, Kimchi, Mintyflesh, and Luckay4Lyphe.  

Doubles:

• M to the Ekos and FOW lead the rankings with their amazing Lucas and Ness team.
• Teams ( We both lost to Wolf, we r gud, Sunshine Snuggle Brigade~) currently have an undefeated streak! How far will they be able to maintain that streak?
• Double, double, toil and trouble! Flame and Zakalicious join in double Meta Knight while Adam Gibson and Bizkit go double Snake.
• Muramasa Baby! has been the only team who kept the same position since the last ladder update.
• Top 5 teams with the most wins: Flame’s Team (31), DLK (22), Muramasa Baby! (19), Team Red (18), and Chinchilla Bros (16).

Hey, everyone! How's it going? I hope everyone has been alright. Well anyway... you probably thought I was gone or something, but that is not the case. I was unable to work on the first ladder update due to my return from hiatus at the time, and I hope that is understandable. I thank Mocha for whipping up an update for me while I was gone! Also, if you probably didn't realize, she is currently co-working with me for this season's ladder updates. This is something I wanted to try out and to see how things go, so please bear with us as we switch off on each ladder update. Oh, I've also kept to my promise and racked up the most accurate results I can get by taking in today's rankings. We shall see what goes on here!

• ADHD is currently maintaining his position at the top of the ladder with a 92-point lead. How long will he be able to last?
• This time around, despite more top tier dominance, we're starting to see some Pits (from burntsocks, Luckay4Lyphe, and Aegis Angel Admiral Pit), Wolfs (from Mcpeepants and Kain), and a Mr. G&W (from Alphicans) added to the character variety from players un-ranked 2 weeks ago. Great job, you guys! And also, we have a Lucas added to the mix, as M to the Ekos is currently placing high with him. Very unique choice, I must say!
• The biggest drop in the ladder at this time is Stingers, dropping from 8th to 31st with his R.O.B. due to some inactivity. But not to worry though, Raffi-X is just getting started, making sure that at least one R.O.B. main can try to leave a mark on the ladder.

-ADHD isn’t only using Diddy, but also Kirby, Marth, and King DeDeDe. It’s interesting to see our offline ranked players toy around with different characters. Nice work ADHD!
-MeroKnight is also showing a nice variety of character usage including Pokemon Trainer, Zero Suit Samus, and even Ganon!
- As far as high tiers go, the usage of Meta Knight and Snake isn’t all that surprising, however Waft-0LI and judge have been sneaking in Wario; ADHD, ANTi and BengalsRZ have been displaying their Marth; pkmonftw, dabuz, and Sinnyboo242 with their Olimars. Sinnyboo242 has also been placing well with his main, Ice Climber
- lloD and Illmatic. keeping their Peach in check. Good job you two!
- Congrats to So Fatal for being the only one currently on a win streak with no losses with his Snake (14-0)

Alrighty, it's that time again. Welcome to the fifth and final ladder update of the fall season! I hope you guys have enjoyed stuffing yourselves during Thanksgiving. xD Anyway, seeing as my access is currently limited for a little while due to some terrible technical difficulties, the rankings still had to be taken the night before, so please bear with me. Though, I will most likely consider taking the rankings at a very later time for the next season. So, with the ladder closing very soon, many players have decided to step things up in their game. What suprises await us? What has been expected from this update overall? We shall see whose wishes have come true! Then again, I've got quite a few singles videos in my disposal.

In the spectator's corner, there were only 2 singles videos sent to my inbox by Kyleisreal. Though these actually seem more like friendlies (after a ladder set, that is) than ladder matches, it's better than nothing. Despite the top tiers galore, I'd say these are worth to watch, even though Ally isn't using his Snake in these matches. I think this is pretty well evened out. (Texture/music hacks are definitely used for your viewing pleasure. :3)

• Well, what do you know... Ally decided to stick to his word as he makes it to this final ladder update, currently ranking in 4th!
• The Addy definitely has the most decent jump in the rankings. He was in 29th place about two weeks ago, and with some serious catch up, he is currently placing 3rd with his King Dedede. Nicely done!
• Since October 18th, chiiiiiiiii hasn't been remaining active on this ladder. Yet, despite suffering some decay, he is barely moving down the rankings. I do feel that he'd do pretty well if he plays again.

As the summer weather winds down to cooler months the tournaments stay hotter than ever. This month we have MLG DC happening and then just a week later we've got our grassroots event Viridian City 8 right around the corner.

The Viridian City Series is organized and hosted by Alex Strife, one of the most well known tournament hosts in the country.
I spent some time asking Alex a few questions in regards to Virdian City 8 to learn more about the event as well as the host himself.

t0mmy: First off, let's hear a little something about the host. Who is Alex Strife?

Alex Strife: I am a tournament host from NYC, pretty much. I don't know how else to explain it hehe.

0: What events have you hosted in the past?

AS: Apex is the most famous but the Viridian Series and Saffron series are the most famous at this point in time.

0: What are some of your fondest memories that happened in some of these past tournaments?

AS: I always remember the upsets.  I remember when Ally first beat M2K, when Brood beat M2K...a lot of Melee matches like Axe vs. Armada as well.  Nothing really beyond that is as interesting to me...though sometimes we have craziness happen xD

0: Care to share some details about this craziness?

AS: Just adventures that me and cristin ( crismas ) had with smashers in our hotels...and random fun times and moments. Hard to explain XD
gotta be there really :-)

0: Now, let's really get into the head of Alex Strife. What is the voodoo that you do that makes such amazing tournaments happen?

AS: I like to encourage my region to just come by for a good event.  I want everyone I know to show up and give our community a great rep.
Also, there is the fact that I love to get well-known players out here for some hype as well.
Of course, lots of setups work as well xD

0: Haha, I kind of understand what you mean. The atmosphere in tournaments is really great. Let's turn our attention to your upcoming tournament, Viridian City 8.

AS: It's always a fun time at my events...or I try to have them be.

0: What are the difficulties you come across as being a host to a large event?

AS: Getting people is always a difficult thing to do. No matter how "amazing" people think I am I want to always strive to have a greater attendance.  I wanna make sure also that everyone has a great time.   I want you to come back for my next event and by working my tail off to help all players not just some I can achieve that.

0: Currently there are nearly 70 players signed up to attend here on AiB. This is a regional, yet it draws the interest of players from around the country (including myself). Why do you think there is so much hype surrounding this event?

AS: I hope it is because it's my birthday.  I always like having a great crowd on that day.  Beyond that I do not really know...most people just love VC.

0: I saw you organizing a fund for Havok and UTDzac; I find that very admirable to get players to your events in this fashion. Many times hosts will go out of their way to pay for players like Mew2King to come to their events. Why did you choose these two in particular to help fund travel expenses?

AS: Honestly...it's cause Jason usually comes to these events.  We need to get other players to come by also.  Hopefully this will start a trend.  It is not about the best player -- it is about the players that make things interesting.

0: Why did you choose the name "Viridian City" for the name of your event?

AS: We were thinking of a name in a car driving home and magically the song On the Road to Viridian City came on... HAHAH

0: What sets this VC tourney apart from the previous ones?

AS: If you mean what makes this better than VC7, a few things.  One, you have the amazing new venue I accquired called velocity-17 which is a giant area that I can use for tournaments.  Then, you have the food area which is IN the venue...of course you have the go-karts :-)

0: This event is also a birthday party, any plans on cake or party games? Will people be wearing party hats or will party favors be given out?

AS: I am hoping people bring gifts -- I never get stuff on my bday XD...but ya there will be a small cake for us made by emmy:-)

0: What kind of cake?

AS: Don't know; waiting for her to tell me.

0: It'd better be designed to look like a Pokemon... or Kirby...

0: Tell me something about the venue, you said the admission price is worth every bit of investment. What kind of facility are you using and some of its features?

AS: Well, there will be a street fighter tournament run by KOTC as well as a Halo: Reach tournament.  All info can be found at KOTCnation.com.  Beyond that, I think everything has been mentioned.

0: You mentioned upsets happening as being a memorable part of your tournaments. What kind of matches are you going to be interested in seeing take place at VC8?

AS: Zac vs Anti mostly is the one I want to see. They have never played each other before.

Yes, we sincerely apologize for closing the ladders about 2 days late due to Neal having some real-life matters. Anyway, we would like to congratulate our champion of the singles ladder, Anti; and the champions of the doubles ladder, Raffi-X and judge of team "Victorious"! Great job to you guys for making it to the top! Of course, determined by rank, badges will be given out momentarily to these champions as well as to those who made it to the top 64 in singles and top 32 in doubles, but I would like to re-cap on those badges that are distributed.

We had 2,789 players on the singles ladder; and 499 teams (998 players) on the doubles ladder! Though there were more players and teams during the last ladder season, this was still somewhat of a heavy competition, wasn't it?

We have about a month and a half till the playoffs come around. While there's still some time, you can still take a shot at any of the ladders and have some fun while representing your mains! Just remember that there is a total of $520 in prize money, as it gets split to first place prizes for each ladder: $320 for singles and $150 for doubles. Of course, some of the players who got (or will get) dropped will most likely try their best to get back to the top rankings. As each player and team continues to fight for the prize and the top of the ladders, the competitiveness and intensity will also increase! Greetings to everyone, and welcome to the first update of this year's Spring Ladders! We are currently on the season's second week, and after a month of the April Fools' ladder we are back to the real deal! I'll be looking over the ranks of both singles and doubles but I'd first like to state some changes from last season's "Weekly Ladder Updates". Our previous "Weekly Ladder Update" host, Dannykat, has gone M.I.A. Therefore, I'd like to introduce your new hosts: Enrish and, yours truly, lightlanayru. The two of us will be working together and switching off every week to supply you with the most recent updates on ladder. Inui: So, I've got ADHD here, who's known as the best Diddy Kong in the world at this point after dethroning a few other contenders like NinjaLink and Gnes by scoring bigger wins and just outperforming everyone besides Ally, Mew2King, Dojo, and Tyrant in tournaments these days. I remember when you first entered the scene and I watched you improve faster than anyone else. How did you improve so quickly? How does being at the top of your character's metagame feel?
