The Socal regional series is finishing up another circuit this Saturday, December 10th Temple City, California.  

This event is being sponsored by T MOBILE |Blackberry so expect a lot of awesome all around!  The venue is at an awesome anime store called Desu Nation - Check out the tournament page for pictures.   

Here are a few reasons you should get your butt off of wifi and make it out to Champion: 

1) New Player Discounts - Players new to the offline tournament scene will receive $5 off of their Singles Entry Fee!  All you have to do is print out the flyer below and bring it to the tournament. 

2) Raffles - We will be giving away over $200 in raffle prizes!  All of this stuff is free to win - we will not be selling raffle tickets!    

You will receive a raffle ticket for entering the event.

4) Pools and Amateur Bracket- Pools ensure you get your moneys worth by playing a minimum of five different people, which is great because nobody likes to go 0-2 in bracket.  An Amateur Bracket will be offered to those who don't make it out of pools but still want vengeance!  The top 3 players in Amateur Bracket will receive pot money :). 

5) The Players - The best in the West will be attending and hype matches will ensue.  You won't get the same feel from watching these hype matches on computer screen.  We are expecting lots of tough competition including:

*switches in* Hmmm? Oh hey there, AiB! Welcome to the 4th ladder update of the winter season! How are things going on in the ladder? We have reached way past the halfway point through the season, and I hope you ladder players are doing well as you try to storm for the top! Have there been interesting changes, or not much at all? • A Zero Suit Samus user, Agent Salem, currently takes first place with an undefeated streak while ADHD trails behind him by 112 points!
• Newcomer, Phoenix vX, enters today's rankings with the only user representing Sonic. Great job!
• MeroKnight has managed to get back on the top rankings, using a whole plethora of characters besides his main! Keep it up!
• YoshQ seems to be doing very well this time around, as he 'super-jumps' from 25th to 12th with his Luigi (and some Meta Knight).

• Top 6 Players with the Highest Win % → Agent Salem and FOW tie with a win percentage of 1.000, Ramona Flowers (.935), Koolaid (.934), ADHD (.917), and Atomsk (.914).

Doubles:

• The top 4 of these rankings haven't changed much other than 'Flame's team' and 'DLK' switching positions.
• Teams 'We both lost to Wolf' and 'we r gud' are currently suffering some decay, despite having undefeated streaks. Meanwhile, newcoming teams, 'Desu Forever!~ o3o' and 'Just fartin in the dark' have entered the rankings with undefeated streaks. Nicely done!
• We first have double Snakes, then double Meta Knights, and now, we have a team of double Ikes being represented by a newcoming team, 'The Ragnell Legends'. Whew, this should be interesting.
• These following teams have been dropped from the last update's rankings: [09]-WiFi GoDs-, [10]Team We Don't Lose To Lucas, [11]HATE US, [12]Debom and Flame, and [16]Sunshine Snuggle Brigade~.
• Top 6 Teams with the Most Wins → 'Flame's team' (41), 'DLK' and 'BEND OVER CAUSE WE ARE GOING TO **** YOU IN THE *** ' tie with 22 wins, 'Muramasa baby!' (20), 'Team Red' (18), and 'Fiendnation' (16).

Alright, with the season ending on March 31st, we've got at least about a month before the playoffs come around.We shall see who can make it to the top 64 in singles and top 32 in doubles by then! If you haven't tried out the ladder yet and you feel like proving yourself to be the best, go for it! And as for the decaying players, you have some time to make it up. Keep it up, everyone! After a long wait, So Cal has released its latest Power Rankings update! Here’s the list below:



 



Points of interest:


-These rankings have four MKs, along with one Falco, Marth, Olimar, Lucario, Fox, and Wario. Havok has stated he is going to use Snake until MLG: Columbus. TKD also uses MK from time to time. Overall, a very diverse list of characters.



-Tyrant reclaims the number one spot, pushing DEHF back to number two. It’s always a tossup between these two players, as they’ve never consistently beaten each other.



-The highest jump was made by TearBear, who went from the 8 spot all the way to 4.



-The biggest drop was made by Havok, who went from the 4 spot down to 6.



-Stauffy is the first ranked Lucario in So Cal since BoA back in late 2008. This is his first time on the So Cal PR. Congrats Stauffy!



-TKD and Fiction have both been ranked before, but were taken off the list due to inactivity. With some recent strong performances, however, they both found their way back on. TKD was actually ranked with his MK previously, and is now ranked with his Fox.



There you go! The next update will be roughly around mid-late summer.

The Winter Ladder 2010 Singles Playoffs have so far been running smoothly, rather like the top layer of peanut butter before you have maimed it with your spreading knife. However, due to the handful of glitches and disqualifications due to unfortunate scheduling and alertness issues on players' parts, instead imagine the undisturbed peanut butter is chunky instead of the smooth variety. Please take note for future playoff escapades, matches played on time are very much appreciated. We're very sorry about the necessary disqualifications, and we understand that real life situations have the higher priority, but there is a schedule to stick to and lagging too far behind will unfortunately get you DQ'd. We hope you understand.


The Playoffs, as you may or may not know, were initiated April 8th and have gone through 4 rounds of elimination thus far. The paramount purpose of this article, however, is to alert players that the 5th round, scheduled Thursday, April 15, will be delayed due to many players leaving for MLG. Unknowingly showing up to play your matches tomorrow will be a detrimental use of your time, cause rampant confusion and chaos in the Brawl world as we know it, and you will indubitably suffer the consequences. Along those lines, all matches will be delayed until Tuesday at the furthest. However, playing your matches before then would be much appreciated.

  

As far as the matches themselves, a fascinating flurry of incredibly interesting action has taken place.
Concerning the business of the top 8 finishers in the ladder, wins and losses as following have taken place:

• #1 (Ally) won 3 matches and was defeated by Dabuz. He awaits matches in the loser's bracket, where he must win 2 undetermined matches and defeat Atomsk to advance to Grand Finals.
• #2 (Atomsk) Has succeeded in defeating 4 opponents, but was also crushed under Dabuz's iron fist. He undoubtedly anticipates his Losers' finals matchup.
• #3 (Holynightmare) was defeated by Koolaid, swiftly followed up by Addy in loser's bracket. He is the only top 8 that has been eliminated thus far.
• #4 (Dabuz) Has not lost a single match; defeated Rakan, Rayquaza07, Raffi-X, Ally, and Atomsk. His impressive feat has earned him a spot in Winners' finals.
• #5 (Raffi-X) Lost to Dabuz after a few matches, and has defeated Negga in losers' bracket. To advance to grand finals, he must win against 3 undetermined players and Atomsk.
• #6 (SS13) His 70-some winning streak on the ladder was no fluke; after losing to Atomsk, he lies in the same category as Ally in losers' bracket.
• #7 (MJG) Also having lost to Atomsk, he must defeat 4 players and Atomsk to get into grand finals. It looks like a lot of players are going to have to beat Atomsk. BUT THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE. Or zero.
• #8 (Addy) Despite significant wins against Holynightmare (And cheese!) he is farthest behind in the bracket, having to win 5 undetermined matches and defeat Atomsk to get to Grand Finals. Good luck buddy, we're all rooting for you!

Doubles Playoffs are also going rather swimmingly. However, let it be noted that ~Enrish's~ schedule is slightly different than the one for Singles Playoffs, so make sure to follow what he has said in his PMs. The top teams in doubles are a bit harder to keep track of; However, some significant teams still in the running are:

• Holynightmare's Team, which is in Winners' Finals
• Waft-Oli's Team, which is in Losers' Finals
• SS13's and Dr. Grandpa's Respective Teams, both in Losers' Quarterfinals
• And Finally, Tearbear's Team (1st in ladder,) and Flame's team (4th in Ladder,) are too far off to be pinpointed in the heavy thicket of bracket, but they are both still in the running.
  
  

THEREFORE, The singles and doubles brackets are progressing smoothly and will likely do so in the future for economical, social, and political reasons. Good luck to you all, and to all a good night!
