I don't know how much you know so I'm just pointing it out just in case you didn't know. As much as I hate Windows, I actually recommend dual-booting. There are still so many programs that don't work in Linux, sadly. Especially games. |

I haven't tested either one of Unity and Gnome 3, so I don't have an opinion of either. Some people love both, some people just like one of them, and some people hate both of them. It should be pretty easy to try them both out though, and they're probably customizable.
When I get an HDD (only have a pretty small SSD right now) for my new computer I will install the latest Ubuntu on it (currenly I only have poopdows 7) (And I'm gonna make it so that the operating system itself is on a separate partition. That way I lose pretty much nothing if I upgrade by re-installing. At least, that's the idea.), and then I'll test the different environments out.
If you want easy Linux, Ubuntu or Mint Linux are the ways to go. |
