GameClucks Monthly - Sept 3rd 2011

Location: Lynnwood, Washington, United States
Setting: In person
Date: September 3, 2011
Organizer(s): GameClucks
Game(s): Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Size: Large local

Description

Monthly Smash Event

$5 Venue
$10 per Event (Brawl 1v1, 2v2 and Melee 1v1)
$5 per person if we have a N64 or Melee 2v2 event

START TIME IS NOON
Noon: Brawl 2v2
2pm: Brawl 1v1 AM Pools
4pm: Brawl 1v1 Pro Pools + Melee 1v1
Melee 1v1 HAS TO START ON TIME and has to actually be played and get done. We have way too many hold ups with cross over players.

Brawl 1v1 Pools
We will take total entries in Brawl 1v1 and divide by 6 to get the # of pools. We will take the top placers from last GC Pro Bracket, the # of players equal to the # of pools we have (so 6 pools, top 6 from last Pro Bracket) and remove them from Pools. They will advance to Pro Bracket.
Rest will play in Pools.
We will take top 1 or 2 ppl from Pools and advance them to Pro Pool.

Brawl 1v1 PRO Pool
Top * from AM + Pro Seeds will be placed into 2 Pools of 8 each (total of 16 players)
Top 3 from each Pool will go to a Final Pool of 6 to play for Cash Prizes
Paying top 4 from that. (50%, 30%, 14%, 6%)

POOLS will be scored in the standard 2 Game Format (0-2, 1-1, 2-0)
Final Pro Pool will be 3 Game Sets (3-0, 2-1, 1-2, 0-3 scoring)

Side Events: Will not start until other events are done.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL: - Rumor has it this was abused in August...
Leave them at HOME.
If you decide to go smoke up or drink, just simply DO NOT COME BACK that day.
For 90% of you both are illegal activities.
Should something happen at GC while you are drunk or stoned, its my responsibility. I am not willing to be responsible for your dumb ***.
Red Card/Yellow Card?
RED is the only card I will give out. Kiss Genesis good bye if you get one.

Jem, no prob; I really don't get upset over stuff like that. We'll make sure stations are setup correct.

Most people prefer 1-stock rematch over %-based wins so it keeps people from running the timer and we have a good fight (especially with livestream) and helps reward skill over cheap tactics. What I had to pull off was spacing, timing, and control in order to pull off a successful advanced technique to score that KO (and only 15 seconds to put that together). A %-based win would have just given you the win despite the fact that R.O.B. is is heavier (%-based) than MK -- and I am not so keen on some of the weight-based %-based tie breakers.

I'm just happy to see Oregon breaking top 3 at regionals again. Shoutout to Jonix and Brick for their strong performances as well as Kyle (first tourney outside a few locals) as well as a lot of other Oregon players like Noah. Good meeting some of the new players up there, really liked playing with Sero, 100%, Focal, and everyone.
Hopefully I can find a way up to these more often and get that 1st place again and give all my livestream fans some more hype matches ([^^]
